This is probably the most baffling decision I have ever seen. I know the Oscars regularly get it wrong, but seriously? I personally thought this was a poor song by Newman's standards. I was surprised it was nominated in the first place. Nevertheless, I See The Light is so superior it's laughable. And it is a joke. An absolute joke.

Alright! To all the Tangled fans who are upset over their favorite song losing, here' what I've gotta say. Ahem. Alen Menken, who wrote this song, won at least two or three oscars before. But Randy Newman only won one oscar before this. So, the Academy is trying to even it out. And also, I know, "I See The Light" was a good song, but "We Belong Together" was just so special, that it DESERVED to win. Sorry Tangled fans, but BUZZ AND WOODY 4EVER!!!!!!

@Liisha2theMoon dude, you're getting so upset that a song didn't win. whatever. you can enjoy whatever song you want and prefer one song over another, but why ruin a joyous moment of someone who's worked very hard. yes, tangled had good music too, but with your comments it seems as if u were personally injured in some way because ur song didn't win. all the original songs were good, and everyone worked hard at them. im sure alan menkin and glenn slater are both gracious for the nomination

Not only did the best song get robbed that night, but by doing so the Academy gave a big middle finger to the return of the animated musical. It was bad enough they didn't nominate Tangled for best animated feature, would it have killed them to at least give it this?!

the song, cheesy and upbeat as it seems (although it's true), has a stronger force to pull out our feelings inside. tangled centers to love. TS3 also. but it centers to friendship. it's just that We Belong Together's meaning is stronger that I See The Light.

Randy Newman is good for making a song for Toy Story 3, but "I See the Light" from Tangled composed by Alan Menken and lyrics provided by Glenn Slater deserve this award, since Disney is starting to make the Classics a come back.

@TheAC29 I have listened to 'I See The Light' and I didn't really like it. It got better as the song progressed but it didn't really have that quality that Alan's Oscar winning songs had.

@reptongeek - I agree - there were other songs on the Tangled soundtrack that I enjoyed more and I think would have been more deserving of a nomination, but I'm very glad Randy won again.....
