  • i love summoning i can listen them over and over again, specialy when is winter and never get bored of them.

  • @Nikolinanin same here. like many say, Summoning is not just music, it's a journey to a different world.

  • damn you Summoning...this is too good for this world...oh well, it's made for Middle Earth anyway :) hope they'll start working on new album very soon, this wait is far too long now...

  • Let their flame never die...

  • Divine music!!

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs that I've ever heard. I'm reading The Lord of the Rings yet again, and I love having this play while I read. Aragorn's coronation, Gimli showing Legolas the Glittering Caves, the beauty and mystery of the Mirrormere at the exit of Moria, the glory of Minas Tirith or the host of the West marching to the Morannon; so beautiful a story deserves equal beauty of sound, and Summoning just nails it with Ashen Cold.

  • Good to know that they are playing at Hunter College, which happens to be the college that I am attending right now EPIC

  • There playing in Hunter College in December? I can freakin' walk there...

  • pure magic!!

  • The dragon on the album is, Smaug?

  • @Emanuelsson93 Probably, I just finished reading Hobbit two days ago :D Smaug got owned bad! :D

  • @Emanuelsson93 I think so

  • @Emanuelsson93 I don't think it's Smaug "the Golden", because the dragon seems black to me or very dark. But it might be Ancalagon the Black.

  • @Emanuelsson93 I believe it's Ancalagon the Black too, for there are only three dragons named in Tolkien's work, as far as I know. Those are Smaug, Glaurung and Ancalagon. Since indeed Smaug is nicknamed 'the golden' and Glaurung has no wings, this must be Ancalagon the Black, which was the most powerful dragon to ever have lived in Middle-Earth.

  • I got pissed off when read this

When I heard this for the first time in some way it changed my view on music. I felt that perfect connection of metal, dark ambient, classic music, ancient times, fantasy world and dreams in a single band. They are NOT just simple talented "metalheads". They are composers which I easily can place next to Mozart, Bach, Wagner...etc

    Morbid666999

and my computer hung up and i couldn't give him thumb up xd

  • THE best Summoning song in my honest opinion. It really transports you back to middle earth.

  • "Acquista "Ashen Gold" su: iTunes"

  • na grób Durina !

  • A grin and a word is his trade

From these his profit is made

Though his body is not tall and his courage seems small

His fame will take longer to fade

  • Beyond the ocean brews a battle

Beyond the battle blood shall fall

To a place where man forsaken

Dwells the one who should not live

  • It's a divine gift if you can read this message, thus listen this music!

  • 7 months has passed since I was last time listening this masterpiece. 7 years will pass and I'll be still amazed with it. 70 years will pass, I'll be ashen cold and some new kid will discover how to run away from reality and drown himself in to dreamworld of Summoning.

  • @Morbid666999 well said. i feel the same way about music I love

  • Listened to this on a hike today....

  • Summoning+Tolkien...Speechless

  • @Zoroastrist actually it's tolkien+music=summoning

  • This makes me feel so much better.

  • @Mermaid587 I know what you mean...

  • I seriously regard this album, in its entirety, as my favourite Summoning release to date. I've never heard anything like it before. It's so unique and beautiful.

  • This song evokes an intense sadness and elation simultaneously for me. I fucking love it. One of my favorite songs of all time.

  • Isn't it ashen gold...?

  • @Stragulia

nope ... Tolkein's original poem reads:

The world is grey, the mountains old,

    The forge's fire is ashen-cold;

No harp is wrung, no hammer falls:

The darkness dwells in Durin's halls

  • ab 2:27 !! purpose-built !!

  • From beginnig this song is fucking great !! This is one of the sounds prefect for my burial !! geil danke fürs hochladen !!

  • I JUST BOUGHT THIS ALBUM..can't wait to get it in the mail

  • The forge's fire is ashen cold!

  • This music is like hot young pussy. I love it!

  • @Tomasznik69 I'm sorry mate, but that was probably the worst description of Summoning's music I've ever heard :D It's way better. It doesn't even have anything to do with that kind of feeling. Summoning is... <--- That.

  • @Corey6781 Words... They never describe accuratly what you feel... But I'm huge fan here!

  • epic black metal!

  • This really takes me somewhere else.......so beautiful

  • the fame of 2 people will not be sung by mortal heroes.

  • Wish the keyboards didn't dominate the song so much, other than that it is great!

  • Epic, tearjerking, brilliant, and Archaic. It feels like tales from middle Earth are breathing into me and revealing something beyond words and images.

  • @GoldenBoySwallowSea

    That was a nice description...

  • Gänsehaut pur !! Danke für den Upload !! Das Lied läuft auf meiner Beerdigung !!

  • That's it !! Best melody ever at beginning !! Pure sweeping music... ab 2:27 ....

  • YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is insulting to call summoning's music metal, this is way over it.

  • summoning is so fucking good

  • Reminds me of a gloomy puff the magic dragon.

  • It's nice seeing a non-Satanic black metal band for a change, especially one as epic as Summoning. Hail from America \m/

  • I awake to the light of dawn filtering through the stone window next to my bed. I reach for my ebony longsword before adorning my Lord's Mail, whilst thumbing through the number of jewels and gems I acquired from last night's expedition. And as I strap on my shield, I head for the wooden door.

Today will be a good day to explore the green fields of Vvardenfell.

  • this is pretty sweet

  • one of the best bands ive ever heard...<3

all people who dislike should go out and stab themselfes

  • is this black metal?

  • @TehKmm yes, epic/atmospheric Black Metal

  • This is so great. Who have thought that an "Abigor" can create such Melodies ;)

Dont get me wrong..Abigor is great too .

  • When I heard this for the first time in some way it changed my view on music. I felt that perfect connection of metal, dark ambient, classic music, ancient times, fantasy world and dreams in a single band. They are NOT just simple talented "metalheads". They are composers which I easily can place next to Mozart, Bach, Wagner...etc

  • @Morbid666999 Not even. Summoning is a good band, but nowhere near the level of Mozart or Bach. They were geniuses.

  • @Morbid666999 i think i love you

  • @Morbid666999 dude you are awesome, visiting your utube page is like looking into my Itunes library, you are the first person besides myself who thinks Summoning is on par with Bach, Mozart and Wagner cheers!

  • @Morbid666999 you have no ideea how stupid your last sentence is, clearly...

    too bad, you mean well

not to diminish the talent of these guys but you're comparing bonfires with jet engines

  • @flatronl1915SLG Well, you can never compare art music like classical and popular music like black metal, classical is just too different in the method it's produced.

  • @Morbid666999

You have described it nicely and accurate about how I felt too when hearing this first time

  • GREAT FANTASTIC MUSIC!

    Ave Summoning!

    From Turkey...

  • This is quality, only heard it for the first time this week.. Me like.

  • @killfeehelyDystopia Check out a band called Bal-Sagoth. It's not quite like Summoning, but it's another fantasy/black metal band and just as good in my book.

  • Irreplaceable ! Love this song !

  • True music with soul and heart ... not for money just for pure enjoyment.

  • @SuperiorPeter i'm waiting on an answer. i DO want to know why these "kvlt kids" get snobby abouit black metal which is fast and brutal and then listen to shit that sounds like soundtrack music saying its "real" metal

  • @statetheobv are you mad because you are listening to something you dont understand?

  • @statetheobv Listen to Summoning's first album and you'll see why

  • @statetheobv nobody said how real metal this is, we enjoy summoning so much that we dont fucking care about subgenere labels, not even about his musical genre

  • @statetheobv

Well... maybe because it IS fantasy music with a BM vocal?

  • @statetheobv you can not compare summonig with dimmu borgir... summoning is a two man band. and for my part most songs give me goosbumps

  • what the fuck i would like to die while listening to summoning.....

  • I love this song!

  • What makes Summoning special and different from "normal" black metal bands is, that they are not just yelling, but creating a melody, an atmosphere, something...epic to go along with their message. Which is why I don't like most of the black metal bands and why I LOVE Summoning.

  • @oOWeltUnterOo There are a LOT of black metal bands that use harsh vocals to create atmospheres. Just search a little deeper and you would be surprised how many good ones there are out there :) But I have to agree that few do it as skillfully as Summoning

  • @rachskald No, no, you've got me wrong! It's not that I think the harsh vocals created it, I was also referring to the music and the choir, which are very special I think...I know, lots of Black metal band use harsh vocals, which I often DONT like. But in this case, I like them. No, I LOVE them.

  • @oOWeltUnterOo I should have been more specific - There are many good bands that use great MUSIC in combination with well-used, subtle harsh vocals to create atmospheres similar to, or completely different from (but just as 'pure' and powerful) as Summoning. Somehow, Summoning is quite 'popular' as far as this type of music can be, so people tend to stumble upon it sooner. Many bands just as good are often overlooked though, getting lost in the enormous amount of bands in general.

  • this is the music of my soul, I feel the energy! I feel it so deep! ohh man... Summoning is king!

  • from mexico esta chingona la musica bravo un saludo al resto del mundo bye

  • Question: is that Gollum/Smeagol at 3:05 ?

  • I heard this probably 10 times today withing the past few hours.

  • @yinzx7 oh well theres a pentagram

  • @Arkanai111 yea and?

  • sre they satanic? y is there a pentagram!

  • @Arkanai111 They arent religous. they say in an interview they hate all religions equally.

  • @Arkanai111 pentagram has a lot of meanings, not just "satanism"

  • IS FANTASTIC...

  • @MIKELLARO check out,,,YMIR-(Balders Omen)

  • I'm in love

  • best song i've heard so far...

  • The only song that I like of this band u.u

  • Ewig nicht gehört, immer noch top. Danke!

  • This is the black metal I like. I'm not to big on black metal.

But this is just wonderful. The sound, the instruments, the atmosphere and it isn't over-produced like all this new Dimmu Borgir and Lord Belial stuff we are hearing these days.

    Great music!

  • @Capuano231 Don't categorize Lord Belial along with Dimmu. Besides, what's so over the top about that band?

  • Fucking great song!

    Verfickt geiles Lied!

  • @varg1942 Excuse my stupidity, but why does everyone say that on Summoning videos?

  • more albums please !!!

  • I've probably listened to this album 100s of times over the last several years. I may have burnt myself out on it, but I haven't listened to it in a pretty long time now. While listening to this song, chills ran up my spine. I used to always say that Summoning was my favorite band, and now I've reaffirmed that fact. Pure fucking magic, that's what this band creates. There's no other way to put it. Thanks for getting me addicted to this album again.

  • unglaublich.danke dir für das..............

  • One of my top 10 epic black albums XD

  • love this song

  • this is my favorite song off this album

  • Really doesnt get much better then this. so different. who ever would have thought there would be black metal that puts you to sleep.

  • 3:03-3:10 im falling in trans...

  • I feel like im in the shire after listening to this

  • damn good song..

  • Wow im not used to listening to metal that is truly relaxing. Most "relaxing" thing i have is Insomnium. The ONLY thing i wish is that the tempo would pick up into that traditional metal sound at some points but that might be because im not used to it yet. Will definately be checking this band out.

  • @ZodiacDragons

This type of metal is definitely hard to get into, but if you stay open minded to it, it will cause some of the most amazing states of mind of your life.

You should also check out Nazgul. They are similar to Summoning, but also occasionally pick up the pace to a more traditional black metal sound, without losing that epic baroque feel. Their best song in my opinion is Solvitur Ad Elfmuth.

  • @Blashyrkh22

Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely check them out.

  • Now, take what I said and add the black metal intensity to it. Makes for a very dark, eery, exciting feeling out of this song.

  • I just... love this song. It takes me away to a far, noble time in distant lands with knights in armor and towns full of bells and booze. Old castles. Town halls with old friends cheering, eating and playing music. The sounds of wheel barrows and their wheels turning as the next shipment of wheat comes into the town.

  • i lol'd , yet thought ur zoneout to this song is unique .. i zone out quiet differently, iwhen i hear this song'' and the rest of the album'' i ust imagine that am so far away beyond this planet if humans.. seriously this song shifts my mind !!

  • This awesome "feeling" of listening to their songs is still there... never goes away.

At least you agree with what I said though, and about the awesomeness of this song. You should never "lol" at creativity and freely expressing one's ideas. I stand by what I said proudly.

I "lol" at your interpretation as well.

  • naah man you got it all wrong, i lol'd in joy to what i saw in how someone meditates '' zone-out'' so a certain song. for me? a melodic black metal song, or a epic black metal song like this one, or a death/doom or black/doom zone me out to worlds far far away, however it's always different, sometimes am in a rainy wilderness, sometimes am flying in universe..etc . the important thing is i get shifted !!

  • Ok sorry about that Aymanasad, you know there's just a lot of stupid fucktards on Youtube, even in my short time here I've dealt with about 23 of them. So I must have perceived at the time you were trying to be a prick, but I remember I was also coming up from a MAJOR acid trip... so my bad.

I know what you mean about the zoning out and the wilderness part. Sometimes I can imagine myself on like another plane of existence.

  • no biggie dude, i understand. youtube is filled with little pricks that have nothing better to do than talking shit .. and oh, acid trips are fun :D i was commin off of a MDMA trip my self , hahahah

  • Hey are you Arabic? Your username seems like you're of Arab background. My room mate is Arabic, he's from a completely different country and culture, and yet he loves this song just the same as I do. Summoning somehow seems to erase the ethnic and cultural divisions of music..

  • yes i am Arabic, and yes music in general erases cultural divisions, and/or strengthen them. weed has that kinda affect too haha .. i studied everything about sound engineering and when i hear an album like Let Mortal i simply love life, the composition is fuckin amazing .. the melody and black metal guitars and tempo and vocals ..i've been listening to this album since 2003 !!!!

  • I know what you mean dude, I assumed from the name you were Arabic, because of my room mate I'm more aware of things like that now. I even known one Iraqi guy who likes Summoning. It's quite odd I must say.

You know, Summoning has altered my perception of nature. I used to love green pastures and deep hills and huge forests, now I love fog, and trippy looking trees, and murky swamps, and I love it when the sky is gray. I also like rocky mountains and when hail and rain falls.

  • not many people can recognize arabic names, so am impressed you recognized mine, thats just shrinking the gap between our cultures. and seriously. i know people from china, india, afghanistan and iran that listen and love summoning, and other black metal bands .. theres a huge Metal scene in Arabia .. at least 300 bands playin doom and death and black metal and it's spreading wider .. yeah dude, Globalization!! hahah i've been listening to BM since 1995 !! i was hooked right after i heard Burzum

  • Where did you live in the Arabic world?

  • occupied Palestine. grew up in war, misery, agony and despair, so black metal and doom metal helped me release my massive agression towards the occupiers. lol, i rememberd when my mom caught me listening to Ancient when i was 13, thought i was devil posessed haha .. some days

  • My room mate is a Palestinian. How did you leave, and when?

  • great

  • awesome song 5*

  • I remember having to oreder this album a while back, hard to find good music in stores here it's depressing. This music is incredible, It leaves me at a loss for words sometimes. Long live Summoning !

  • the last comment made little sense, but yes, its great !

  • Probably the best Summoning album in the world!:P:P

  • it sure is ''in my opinion'' but never neglect the greatness of albums like Stronghold and Lugburz and Dol Guldur, However this album shows great balance between melody and black metal .. where other albums might have had more of the melody, or more guitars influence .. songs like South Away display some of the greatest guitar skills everrrr ... makes me fuckin shiver

  • Summoning are Epic-Gods!

  • is epic music with balck metal reminiscents

  • @Naterfosth89 "epic" isn't a genre. I would say it's "tolkienesque epic symphonic second wave black metal", but that would imply that it's music, and I think Summoning have ascended past music and into something else altogether

  • Epic :)

  • Oh my gosh... I just started listening to this and I'm instantly... it's just beautiful!

  • Check out-GRAVELAND-

  • You're not the first to post that on a Summoning video. Organised spam?

  • ммм-ммм-ммм-ммм-ммм-ммм-на-на-на

  • Summoning is a great band.

  • \m/

  • This is absolutely beautiful.

  • There abillity of summoning to create such a diverse atmosphere than must any other metal or any other music is incredible to me. the production is sick i would never think of using instruments like they do... maybe im just drunk ut this song is easily one of the highlighted songs in my music collection

  • @purplemarek i agree with you :)

  • Klasika Death metalu...není co dodat!

  • This is no fucking Klasika Death Metalu xDD

    This!

    is!

    Epic/Atmospheric Black Metal! :¨D

  • nicely said :))

  • @papajaga death metalu? nepi uz. epic black metal.

  • Melodies are awesome! But the singing voice is mixed too quiet. Still one of the best bands.

  • It's made that way to give the vocals a more "far off-ish" sound, which adds to the atmospheric value.

  • the mix in this song is soo epic... the reverb makes this prolly one of the most progressive metal songs i have ever heard with an amazing ability to create a mythic atmosphere

  • Do you realize this is one of the best songs EVER?

And explain what you mean by progressive. If I could die listening to music, I would listen to this band, they are sooo epic!

  • beautiful music.......really makes you think

  • they're great!

  • One of my favorite Summoning songs they are fucking awesome!

  • i'm in love...

  • Isn't it "Ashen Gold"? Not "Cold"

  • No it isn't

  • Yeah, my bad. Winamp shows it as "Ashen Gold" for me when I play it from my album.
