@taxo Actually Fame amps are based out of the original Labogas and for some time where made in the Laboga Factory in Poland. Now Fame amps are made in china.
Blackstar, Marshall, Laboga and Soldano Avanger.........very hard to choose....they all sounds great....I'm impressed in particular by Blackstar, actually......
@mainlymusicman They're not really comparing which one has more gain, you know... They ran a reamp setup into each high gain amp (since that's what those amps were) for comparison, not having a most-gain contest.
Only one high gain amp soldano slo 100! i nearly bought the avenger, then heard the slo! thats why there 3k! just ordered mine been saving for months! im totally chuffed with myself lol!
It's really interesting that blackstar do not sound horrific compared to the other heads,it sounds really good indeed.Soldano avenger's another planet, for sound but for price too...
@jklop91 - looks to me like they have the speakers in the semi-soundproof room, record each head, and what this video shows is them playing back the recorded sound through the pc & monitors. The video guy might just be pointing the camera at the amps that you are hearing the pre-recorded sound of.
@exacyzm I think they might actually be using a DI-Box...that way they can actually tweak the amps individually each time they set them up there. But I don't know for sure.
@DB73093 2205. It's a two-channel version with more gain, this one more likely the later model from about 1985-1989. It's easily my favorite out of all these, though it seems like a lot more people are talking over the Marshall than the other amps... I guess they figured that it was the only vintage one and they already know what it sounds like.
I like the laboga and the blackstar the most. I also love soldanos but maybe they are too tight for me. Although the blackstar was tight it sounded pretty open and im sure with the ISF it can open even more. The laboga had this great presence to it. The marshall sounded pretty good too. Well technically all those amps are great. But i liked the laboga and the blackstar more. Plus the laboga looks are damm great!
why dont all these jerk offs go to a coffee shop and talk...STFU while the amps are being tested and maybe you will learn/hear something...waste of time.
I've just come around to Blackstar amps. I must say I'm really impressed. I used a Dual Rec which has been my workhorse for over 15years now and I think I need to look into the Blackstar 200, or suck it up and get an ENGL Powerball.
Great Dream Theater Sfuff!

maxsurban1970 10 months ago
@maxsurban1970 it costs n-times the blackstar head...would be a shame for soldano not being hugely superior
taxo 8 months ago
@taxo The Blackstar is a series one, so it's about the same price as the Avenger, and only a little bit less than the Hot Rod 50.
lonewolfsx29 6 months ago
@lonewolfsx29 it depends on the location...here in italy that blackstar is 980 euros and the avenger is around 1800 and the hot rod plus is 2150
taxo 6 months ago
@taxo oh wow I didn't realize the prices were so drastically different overseas. For that huge of a price difference, I'd go Blackstar for sure!

this is a bit like having a noodling contest...
who the hell cares who can noodle the fastest?: who the hell cares how much gain an amp has? gain does not equal tone!!!
actually its the opposite of tone. now an early 80's JCM 800 single channel, theres an amp with tone.
it will cut through any of these amps like a knife through butter.
thats including the crazy expensive ones like the soldano SLO. i know i have both...

Is the sound already recorded in the computer and then sent into the amp?
If so, how is this possible?
Thanks

I think think the ENGL is obviously a great choice, but also the correct one. Spend wisely! Then you can get the little HT-5 for practice...lol.
