I'm European, but I admire both the American and Russian effort to put men into space (it was risky business in many respects); and she did play a part in putting Korea on the map in that respect. Actually no, she's giving it an objective comparison and where Korea and other countries need to catch up. I don't think blindly praising one's own country isn't a patriotism. You need to be able to look at things objectively and be able to criticize yourselves. It's true what she says. US put money in Space technology then anyone else. Their technology is so far ahead of anyone else's including Korea. Why should that be a surprise?

Space programs exist because they are potential military projects in development. You think the US will just explore, conduct a few experiments and stop at that?

They've already exploited and fucked up this planet, they'll have no problem with doing the same to other ones. Korea is a fucking trend whore, thinking that if they go to space too, they'll be just as powerful as the US, or just as "technologically advanced." The thing is, unlike what she said about the payload specialist thing around 2:30, she is classified as a "Spaceflight Participant." The only "Spaceflight Participants" who didn't go with their own money were an American schoolteacher and a South African in a similar program.

A Japanese astronaut, Chiaki Mukai, for example, was in fact a "Payload Specialist." So idk if Soyeon didn't know about it, but she was a space tourist.
