Im starting airbrushing and whent and bought paint from the local auto paint shop , it's a paint that you have to join a catalyst or hardener, is this used to thin the paint aswell? or do I have to get a proper thinner? thanks
Nice video bro it helped me alot... what airbrush do you recomend because i have a 20 dollar one and it keeps cluggin up even tho i reduce the paint.it looks like a good airbrush gun but i know theres better ones like the one u use.. im using the auto paint ...and what do u use to reduce the air on the little compressor

Seriously... This is amazing piece of work, but I was a little bit dissapointed... I loved that skull as it was all foggy and ghostly :)) in silver with blue fire I would paint that image all after my wall :D
@BerserkCustomPaint I guess it depends what thinner you use. and of couse the paint as well. i paint mosly with acrilics but i have done a few projects with urathane

gret work!!!! just a shot in the dark but would you happen to know where you found that image of the skull. i have searched for a month and only found it on a t shirt and it was all distorted. wuold love to use that image on a piece of mine. understand if you dont its been a while. any way tank turned out amazing!! i have watched it 20 times or more!!! thanks.
Hey man, i just bought my first eclipse CS and I have been practicing a lot. I have been tattooing for 8 years and I am starting to airbrush to expand my art.
I have watched all your videos several times and I just love the techniques you show and EXPLAIN!!!! Thank you for the help in advance.
im just starting airbrushing im really good but my airbrush gun sucks and cant get into the small detail so when i make a stencil i have to make like 2 or 3 of them to use them for my shading any tips?
you should consider making instructional dvd's because you do alot better than most i have seen! most artists do not include the little things like what ratio paint to thinner or air pressure they are using.that stuff is really helpful to new guys like me! i've watched a lot of these videos and have bught a lot of dvd's and tis one kicks ass! thankyou for sharing this and hope to see more from you!
@wizzinonafence hey man, tip i use when doing more important (expensive) jobs and need to make quick stencils i'll use basic computer paper, but as youll find out, paper can bleed through so i keep a can of rattle can clear coat to clear the paper stencils. it not only keeps the paint from bleeding through, but works great if you wanna reuse the stencil later on on another job
very very nice work. As a artist for most of my life, its good to see creative people sharing their skills. You really have no idea how your video has inspired so many to accomplish their dreams. They tell us that we make it look so easy, it only took 40 yrs to do that . lol I wish you well, health & prosperity to you
Awesome job! I have been drawing for years and am just now starting to experiment with air brushing, how did you get started and what did you do for practice?
i want to airbrush my motorcycle tank! how do I go about doing this? I should mention that it's factory painted and cleared i just want to add a name to it.
Take it apart and sand it with 800 grit then add the name and reclear. If you don't want to do all of that you can always just brush it on with One Shot striping enamel on top of the clear.
been searching the net trying to find good advice on skull painting, your top of the list loads of stuff i never thought about . Especially using the outer part to define the edge of the skull. Thanx
I´m a airbrusher too and I love to work freehand, but I learn so much from your video, so now I have to brush a scull like your´s too! AWSOME WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi , Ryan just found you on youtube and have to say fair play mate your art work is very good and your information is very helpful. just wondering if you can get standox paints in smaller maybe 120ml bottles don't know anything about this paint. I am using autoair at the mo but want to experiment with new paints. also how do you transfer an image on to your support ready for airbrushing. anyways keep up the good work hope to here from you soon peace out.
Go the the airbrushtricks website and click on the ultimate airbrush starter set link. That's everything you need. You can also get all of that stuff at Hobby Lobby too. I recommend the top feed Iwata Eclipse for your first airbrush.
If you're airbrushing on cars and don't have access to a mixing machine like I do then use HOK. They cater to custom painters. The most affordable way to go is to start with the primary colors and build up from there. You DEFINITELY need to have some solid knowledge of how to use your paints correctly, so study up! I may make that my next video. Kind of a starter thing. I think airbushtricks has a good video on this too.
Wow man, you are truly an artist! I wish I knew how to work an airbrush with any kind of talent.... I can imagine it, but can't make it look like in my head.
Just shot four more videos and am in the middle of editing them rite now. Just some basic stuff like real fire, taping off flames, and a very advanced portrait tutorial. I will also be making one that is just airbrush advice. It will most likely be just me telling about little things that have made a big difference in my art.

I have been airbrushing for about 2 years and I have watched every video on airbrushing that i could find....you have the absolutely best description of stencil work, shading, paint reduction and light source use that i have seen!!! not to mention you give some good advice on the use of a Micron....thank you for your efforts and great art work!!! Gotta give you a major thumbs up with this one!!!!

My PSI is so low because of my technique. I work with my paint so thin that I couldn't get as tight with my details with a higher psi. The paint would splatter or skate. This it just the way I prefer to paint. I can achieve an insane amount of texture and detail this way. My style is less like airbrush and more like shading with a pencil.
nice video man & great work!!! i have an iwata eclipse & im using createx & it keeps cloging up my tip & paint wont flow through. i tried to reduce & strain but no luck. any advice on how to get good flow? do you think i should try different paint?
Createx is good for t-shirts and canvas work, but you should use House of Kolor, or I use Standox on my cars and bikes. The automotive paints have a very smooth flow. The createx is a water based paint and if you let it dry up in your gun it can be like concrete to get out. You might just play with the reduction and air pressure though to try and fix your problem. Sometimes you can have your air pressure to high and it can dry your paint before it has a chance to leave the tip.
Thank you Ryan for taking the time to respond. I had looked at hundreds of pics, but 'screaming skull' was the answer. Keep working on that 3d skull, as I would be one of the first to buy one from you. Thanks again. You are a true inspiration.
NICE!! I love this video. How long have you been doing this, you are awesome. I am still in my first year and getting better. Keep the videos coming man and keep up the good work. Thanks
just type screaming skull in google, or bing images. you should be able to find it. I am also working on a 3D posable skull for reference that you guys might dig.
I've been meaning to make more videos and will soon. Just real busy on some jobs and having camera man issues..
wicked vid mate....it'd be great to see some more....not many guys do a how to vid with an explaination as you go......great work......I just subscribed so how about some more.....chiko
Hell yea that looks bad ass I am jest starting out I can do like drop shadows on flames and shit like that still working on doing some bad ass shit like that thanks to guys like u who take the time make the video
Nice work Ryan! So you used 2 different airbrushes? I'm using just a an HP-C Plus and struggling with fine detail. What's the tip size on the micron? Do you find it makes that much of a difference? I'm thinking I need to invest in a second airbrush.
Nice work Ryan! So you used 2 different airbrushes? I'm using just a an HP-C Plus and struggling with fine detail. What's the tip size on the micron? Do you find it makes that much of a difference? I'm thinking I need to invest in a second airbrush.
Ryan, you redefine 'bad to the bone!' It's people like you that make the rest of us feel even worse about ourselves ;) No matter what you show us, we could never do anything close to you. You understand light and shadows to a level we could never imagine. You are a true genius. How long have you been doing this, and I don't recall what paint you use? Thanks again you sick and talented artist!
nice video i just got into airbrushing and found this video very helpful, i have a master g23 and an iwata eclipse and am looking forward to hopefully become as good as you and some of the other pros i have seen on you tube, so once again thanks and your work is excellent.
@BerserkCustomPaint Just got the step up in airbrush and will upload a pic or short vid of both first &2nd attempt. I thought a brush was a brush. WOW was I wrong. Its amazing the difference to detail level that a half decent brush can make even for a newbie like me!

@Thundering34
just type screaming skull in google, or bing images. you should be able to find it. I am also working on a 3D posable skull for reference that you guys might dig.
I've been meaning to make more videos and will soon. Just real busy on some jobs and having camera man issues..

Nice work Ryan! So you used 2 different airbrushes? I'm using just a an HP-C Plus and struggling with fine detail. What's the tip size on the micron? Do you find it makes that much of a difference? I'm thinking I need to invest in a second airbrush.
Keep up the good work!

@BerserkCustomPaint Just got the step up in airbrush and will upload a pic or short vid of both first &2nd attempt. I thought a brush was a brush. WOW was I wrong. Its amazing the difference to detail level that a half decent brush can make even for a newbie like me!
