This was the first gay parade in Bulgaria and I can see that some idiots already talk about how uncivilised we are. This is a city of 2 mln. people and just 60 of them had something against the parade and were arrested. I am sure that the first parades in cities like Berlin and New York didn't go without problems. Bulgarians are tollerant and you can see that in the reaction of normal people in the streets of Sofia.

I'm only noticing the facts, that the things are not so simple and pink. It's not simply "the idiots against the tolerant people". The limits of the term tolerance are not defined, the ethics that we use in this debate is different for the different sides.

What do I mean:

If I say "I am intolerant agaist the crime." is this something I must be ashamed of? No, because in tolerance is not an ultimate value and the deffinitions is not so one-sided.

The pro-side uses the so called ethics of autonomy(Haidt) and they are perfectly right because by homosexualism nobody is hurt and the gays are consenting adults.

The opposition uses ethics of community and ethics of divinity. So they are perfectly right also. They want to live in a certain society with certain norms for what is right and what is wrong in public. You can't go naked on the street even if nobody is hurt and you are adult. To be continued...

Yes, they might not be rational, but they also have the same feelings as you and they should be respected. If show youre gay only in the club and at home there would be no problem at all. When it comes to your argument about "community norms", I have to disagree somewhat. Norms are not a constant my friend. Norms are very much fluidic. Thus, what was considered to be the norm a century ago is no longer acceptable today by the standards of that very same society. There are two prominent ways, in my opinion, in which norms can be affected/altered/amended: public debate and revolution.

To understand the idea behind the "gay pride movement", one has to study the history of the civil rights movements in the U.S. and Europe. The gay parades that you could watch in places like Belin or New York City are the product of the civil rights movents in those countries. What you see today is the end product of 30 years of evolution of that event...as it originally started as a political tool against institutionalized discrimination and today is a mere show that attracts people from all over the palace to sing, dance and have a good time.

Again, the only problem is that in 2001, I and many more people were under 18, so technically we were never given a chance to decide. What is more, identification with a religion does NOT automatically affiliate a person with a religious institution my friend...you need to know that. The question in the census was 'what is your religion' and not 'are you an affiliate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church'.

For that matter, religious weddings are not recognized by the law as such. Защо тогава има само 4 повдигнати обвинения? Има два варианта. Или 83-ма са задържани безпричинно или прокуратурата не си е свършила работата. Ако прокуратурата е виновна то как точно?

а) Не е имало достатъчно доказателства т.е. хората са задържани без причина.

б) 83-ма са били или с връзки или са си платили. На четирима не е имало кой да им услужи с по няколко стотин лева. :)

в) Но на прокурорите не им се е занимавало и са проявили двоен стандарт.

Часове преди самия педерастки парад бяха арестувани всички младежи в радиус от 1 километър на събитието, само защото стоят на групички по 2-3. Без да имат нищо общо с граждански или политически организации, повече от 80 младежи са били задържани и над тях е било приложено полецейско насилие.

И на теб и на мен ни е ясн, че тия "момченца" с бръснати глави, с боксове, палки и бомби в джобожете не са отивали за сладолед. Полицията има 100%-во право да ги задържи в интерес на сигурността. После прокуратурата решава дали да повдига обвинение; тъй като трудно се доказва в съда умисъл без наличие на потърпевщ, прокурората не е повдигала обвинение срещу тези които са арестувани
