Im not too happy with the sample tbh, made better ones ;). Its not just one sample, its about 5 all merged together. One being a low snare which hits at 200hz, One being a mid(ish) snare (hits about 280hzish), a high snare @ about 4khz and a couple of claps in there too :]. I usually take the best parts out of samples to make one snare, same goes for kicks (+ basses, +leads..etc ). Think i got em off Vengeance essential club sounds.

i think i get it, so just layer a really hi-heavy snare, mid-heavy and low heavy, eq each one seperately and then together, and add/eq some claps/hats and stuff in there too?

pretty much, try not to go furthur than 5 or it starts to get a bit messy frequency wise :]

also bare in mind the low snare HAS to be mono, maybe make your mid snare a bit wide and the high snare a bit wider.....to 'widen' up the snare ;D

I really like the mix, but what I'm most impressed with is the progressive nature of the track. That's something I really struggle with when using software like Reason - I tend to get stuck in a loop and struggle to bust out of it without first going (a) mad, and (b) completely audio blind.
