  • The chords?

  • Thanks for this, man. I was having some trouble hitting that chord off the G. And I honestly think it sounds better that way! You have to change the picking up a bit to make it sound right, but it works.

  • that would be cool if was the same way elliott smith played it

  • Do you know what chords are used in the bridge that starts with "Don't start me tryin now, uh huh uh huh uh huuuh"?

  • thanks for pointing this out.

  • this is really good man i've given it 5 stars!!! But to me it sounds like your e-string is slightly sharp...just a suggestion dude...

  • That doesn't sound right to me. I believe that it's actually a Bm shaped chord. The 1st chord before the A is a Bminor shape using open E(D) for the base note.

  • is that ur toilet in the background???

  • capo?!?!?!

  • oooh my thank you so much...i just cant play that e chord he was using : (

  • When i play Angeles, I use the Em that you use in the beginning of the song. this is for the guy who wanted to know the chords..(i'm bored)

    1st chord:*Em variation*

    002032

    2nd chord: *A*

    002220

    3rd chord: *Em variation*

02443x (then quickly change to 00443x)<-then quickly change to 4th chord

    4th chord:

32003x <- then just hit 2 on low E and start it over again.

  • Move the 2 up to the 4 on the d string imo...

    1st chord:*Em variation*

    004032

  • Man, PLEASE, do a tutorial on how to fingerpick like that (I guesse I've commented on a lot of covers of this song, but seems that none of the guys who can finger picking like that is listening!! LOL)

  • the picking in this vid really sucks as i was just demonstrating a chord and not the fingerpicking...

put simple, i figured out my own method of fingerpicking due to years of patterned strumming and learning by ear. its funny, a couple months ago i actually looked up some traditional fingerpicking lessons online, and they were crazy. i really sucked at the traditional way of fingerpicking. i would not make a good teacher

  • that is exactly what i was looking for. can't seem to get it to sound right...

  • go tetris!

  • the original way sounds better. i think to make it easier during the fingerpicking though you can not put your pinky down and just not play the d string for that chord while fingerpicking.

  • yeah man you should make a quick tutorial showing how to play the whole song.

  • I like your version better, do you think you could write out the chords you use really fast? (simple x32010 format or something)

  • well, yes. the finger picking is completely inaccurate, im not very good at another man's interprtation of the travis style picking. thats what makes smith's style unique. he didnt use the traditional travis picking method either. it was like a cross between strumming and travis combined with early folk picking. its very hard to emulate. but the point of the vid is to show an alternate Em which is more accessible from the G chord.

  • This sounds good to my ear. Thanks for the tip!

  • nope, he's right.

  • I admire anyone who can play Elliot Smith or does

  • Your tone is beautiful
