Skin color is caused by geography, where people live. Less sunlight means less vitamin D can be absorbed by darker skin, so the natural adaptation in colder climates is lighter skin. In hot climates, darker skin is necessary as protection against UV rays. That is the ONLY reason people's skin color differs. And it happened gradually, not within a few generations, but many thousands of years.

Most white folks don't realize that they are mutants. The skin lacking melanin(skin pigment) came about 40k yrs ago(Dr. S. Wells). Our ancestors were all melanin enriched. Lots of variants but not the lilly white of today's 'white' folk. I love to point this out to my bio class so that they can educate their bigoted parents.

yes true, but do not call it lilly white. its an adaptation to harsher colder climates with less sun radiation, providing caucasions with more sunlight wich is important for the production of Vitamin D and D3 and thus the synthesis of calcium, phosphor and Vitamin A.
when you call it lilly white you make it sound as if it were inferior. it is both inferior and superior. it is different. please do not make this mistake in class or again here on youtube.

Yes, I am aware of the need to convert vitamins in the skin in a less sunny clime, therefore the natural selection pressure for the melanin to decrease. My use of the word 'lilly' was intended to point to the level of severity of melanin deprivation only. How the hell does one get class from that statement?

@saxmanchiro It is NOT deprivation to have less melanin. It is a positive advantage in less sunny climates.
Having too much melanin in the past, led to those ancestors being unable to breed and dying off, it was not an advantage, this is why levels changed.
it is called evolution.
In other climates melanin levels were advantageous and remained the same or evolved in another direction.
Unless you dump the bigoted language your comments will be regarded by most as racist trash.

@saxmanchiro: Let me clue you in: you, too, are a mutant. Everyone, everything live is; being a mutant is another way of saying alive. The reduction in melanin occurred in the parent of the whiter (probably imperceptibly whiter) child. The average person acquires some 175 mutations in their germ cells per generation, almost all neutral, a few bad and a very, very few helpful, including this one (for a tribe headed away from the equator).

All sexually reproduced ( and conjugated) offspring are more or less mutations of the parent(s), considering Meiosis and add to that, germ cell mutations from replication and mutagenic factors the parent is exposed to, and you have a wonderful engine of evolution. Cool stuff for sure.

In summary, the melanocytes in our skin produce a pigment called 'melanin' which gives us our different skin colors(which is polygenic type of inheritance). When I say 'White', I am referring to melanin deprived(low amt of pigment, hence whitish) people. Melanin enriched(high levels) are darker complected. Where do I come across as 'superior'? We are told that Pluto was discovered in 1930 but the ancient Sumerian's engravings made over 5000 years ago clearly show Pluto. That shows a lot to my science brain.

@revskull As I posted earlier, every time a sexually repoduced organism produces gametes, they are slightly genetically different than the parents, helping variation at each generation. I get a kick out of so many 'sensitive' people out there over a word such as "white" or "Coloured" or "Black". The original post that started this used the word "white" out of universal usage. Again, you can use melanin enriched(very dark/black/coloured/brown) and melanin deprived(white/pink/light complexion)

I have never experienced anything supernatural, demons, ghosts, etc. What are ghost's made of? Can ghosts be weighed or do they have weight? Can the soul be wieghed? Where do aliens come from?
