  • Grande Diego, veramente straordinario. Una composizione coinvolgente e immediata ma al contempo estremamente raffinata, la ricerca timbrica è audace e mai volgare. Bravo, bravo e ancora bravo=)!

  • While playing AC Brotherhood I recogniced Experibass right away when it was played.

  • This is awsome, amazing idea and sounds, when can we have it as a sample lib? ;< )

  • I heard an interview with you on NPR and went looking for this... and also re watched Sherlock Holmes... and will be looking for any CD's you might have shortly. I love that great crunchy sound you get in the bass mixed with the percussive stuff. Excellent!

  • pretty gimmicky if you ask me, but i give him props for doin what he wants.

  • Exactly the right man to work on the Omnisphere psychoacoustic section. Love it.

  • YOU ARE A MUSICAL GENIUS.

  • No thinking inside the box, here!

    THANKS!

  • how do you know things are going to work before you start making it? i mean, instuments have to be expensive

  • @aricacat Actually I don't, I start building and adjust until it works.

You'll be surprised to see the amount of cheap parts or damaged instruments available around.

  • As an independent filmmaker, I want to make a movie just for this music. As a fellow musician, I am inspired!

  • This is awesome man! :) I can't believe you made such an amazing instrument- and you rightfully deserve getting on Assassins Creed! Keep it up!

  • If Dr. Frankenstein and Mozart were abducted by aliens and forced to make music, then you would have Diego Stocco. Awesome stuff, one of my favorites.

Ever thought about taking an Aeolian harp and combining it with a vibraphone?

  • That was beautiful the way that you turned that into a percussion instrument

  • Besides Assasins Creed, I think this music suits well in certain parts of the Hitman game series.

  • one word:

    INGENIOUS

  • I love how you've somehow managed to get the sound of an 808 cowbell out of a double bass :P

  • Good music comes always from good artists and there performances. Diego is definitely one of those guys! Good job man! Very very cool! If you are in munih, whenever, let me know...

  • Muy buena música,

  • TOP!!

  • senza offesa e senza rancore, 'TACCI TUA! XD ho sofferto per il contrabbasso, ( anche perchè venderei un rene per poterne avere uno e poterlo mantenere )XD ma sentendo il risultato ne è valsa veramente la pena... grandioso!

  • at first I was like WAHHHHH!? What are you doing to that bass!? But then I heard what you were doing and I was like AMAZING

  • OMG! How can anyone dislike this...are they crazy...it's great!

  • This is just too epic.

  • Pretty cool

  • musicians are crazy people. i love it.

  • Sounds like some japanese drum stuff. Good work.

  • kind of reminds me of assassin's creed

  • @TheDragonCael Yes, it's because you actually heard it on the soundtrack, I played as a soloist on that video game : )

  • @DSSessionVideos really? wow! That's awesome!

  • At first I was shocked to see what you were doing to such an expensive instrument, but then I smiled when you started playing. It sounds pretty awesome, and it reminded me of the music from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

  • What a crazy instrument

  • I just fell in love with you!... and your music! =)

  • THAT IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Sounds like something from a movie soundtrack.

  • he is a genious

  • This is brilliant, this and the Bassforte, and I'm wondering if there's anywhere I can buy the track you linked to.

  • @HollyRoseFowlCasson I second that. I would buy and "Experibass" album right away if it existed.

  • I can see this added in trillian :p

  • I love it.!!

  • you're simply just briliant

  • YOU ARE TOTALLY "CRAZY" MAN... LOVE YOUR WORK SO MUCH !!!

  • that bass is an mp3 all in one music paradise!!

  • amazing!

  • Now here's an artist. Love your work; you expand the medium in great ways. You're the next Hans Zimmer! Enjoyed Bassoforte, too.

  • did anyone else say the same thing when they came around his shoulder to show the experibass.....'holllllllly.....'

  • awesome

  • Wow - you've got an amazing way of creating music. It sound so incredibly deep and epic!!

    Veeeery good mastering!!!

  • Yeah, barely noticed you on the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood credits! It made me feel special when I recognized your name and the instrument. Looking back, though, I could totally hear you in the background. Nice going!

  • And the God of all instruments descended from the sky.

    And it's name,

    Was Experibass!

  • In my opinion you define good instrumental music :)

  • Genial.

  • Diego, I just finished Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and while the credits were rolling, I was browsing Facebook on my iTouch. The one time I decided to actually look up was during the music. "Music By: Whatever His Name Is. Vocal Solo: Whatever Name. Acoustic Guitar: Whatever Name. Experibass: Diego Stocco." HOW COME YOU HAVEN'T PROMOTED THE FACT THAT YOU WORKED ON ONE OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED GAMES OF 2010!?

  • Hey, I'm a great fan of your work, I hope to see more of it!! :)

  • Diego sei davvero un "cacciatore di suoni" dalla fantasia ineguagliabile...fai "suonare" qualsiasi cosa...sapresti far suonare pure una pizza margherita!

  • great!!! nice working space BTW!!!

  • Its funny how so many people automatically associated this music w/ a visual component,i.e., movie or video game soundtracks. I think its great...but for me personally....this music stands completely on its own with no need for any visual context. Truly great stuff....I could listen to this instrument & your composition for an entire CD with my mind fully engaged w/ the complexities and subtleties.....just f-in' brilliant. BRAVO!!

  • What monitors/headphones are you using? Clean mixes man.. looks like a rode nt1k on the bottom of the bass? Love the fork as a percussion , again..inspirational

  • Man. I love you.

  • is the song for sale?

  • This is the song that plays at the center of the earth...

  • You are Amazing! If I were a film director, you would be the first person I would go for producing soundtrack. Thank you for your work in 'Sherlock'. Keep on developing your passion! Wish you all the best!

  • Hans Zimmer would be proud.

  • Cheers from Russia, that was awesome beyond belief. Thank you for this musical delight.

  • Has anyone noticed that Diego is in the credits for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood... while playing the Experibass? That's how good he is.

  • F R A N K E N B A S S !

  • Italian people love you

  • WOW!!! Holy sh#%!!

That was absolutely bizarre...AND you made simply the coolest sounds from this instrument! Fastastic! Bravo!

Just that you had the nerve to cut apart other violins to put this together and try this idea out...is amazing! That takes balls!

    Brilliant job, Mr Diego!

  • first i was like:

WTF is he doing with these wonderful instruments

    but then i was like:

IT'S THE BEST DAMN THING I'VE EVER SEEN

  • basskenstein

  • This is kind of how sounds are made for film, TV and video games and projects similar to this are within everyones reach. Thanks for being an inspiration!

  • Nice :-)

  • Wow awesome dude !!

  • 59 people don't use forks.

  • my mind = blown!

    -------------------------

It is fine! I am engaged in sound design - and I in delight from fib of the maestro!

  • this is so amazing. 0_0

  • i like the way you think about the music!

  • anyone notice that the last sound of this video is the first sound of "discombabulated"? or at least quite suggestive of it :)

  • @MarkoRuzinOfficial Hi, yes you heard right, that's me playing on Sherlock Holmes, I'm one of the soloists : )

  • @DSSessionVideos When I first saw this video a good 2 years back, I thought: this should definitely be on a movie soundtrack. I guess I wasn't the only one with that idea in mind :P

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • I'd very much like to make a similar style video. I know this is a techy question, but how did you put this together? Particularly mixing the audio recorded through the Cam mic and audio captured through the DAW? The sync issues seem daunting - how the devil did you do it?

  • Diego sei un genio... :-O

  • Awesome

  • do you make music for videogames or movies?

  • This gave me chills, but in a good way.

  • !!!!!!whaaat!!! thats awsome!!!! u do the coolest stuff dude keep makin music!!! *subscribes*

  • Discovering new sounds is one thing, putting them together in such an intriguing and fascinating way is completely another story. Ingenious, love your music!

  • So Kick Ass!!! :D

  • Diego - This really is quite the most extraordinary piece of music and playing I've heard in a very long time - it is no wonder the great Hans Zimmer asked you to work with him.

Me? I'm just madly jealous (and highly appreciative) of you both.

  • wow dude that was incredible

  • you are brillliant, you have a great sense and understanding of rythm :)

  • Wow... and here I am only just pondering about making a two-string electric stick bass with all the old bass strings I got laying around. Loved the kick pedal on it too, do you have to go softer on it or can you really go whack-a-mole on it without fear of it punchin through?

  • Crazy genius!

  • Sounds like a movie soundtrack of the best kind.

    Incredible job, I am amazed!

  • that is the single most awesome string instrument I have ever seen!! i wish this was around when i took up the cello.... maybe i would have played for longer!!!

  • I felt alive listening to that beautiful piece.

  • If anyone asks you what instrument you play, you can now respond with:

"oh, um I play the 12 string bass."

  • @EverydayAdventures ''and the mutan super-piano, tree, bonzai and also sand :)''

  • @EverydayAdventures LOL> But actually I believe it's a 16 string bass. I think it actually has 4 necks. Yes. Stop on 2:27 and you see all 4
