  • This is how they talked for MEDIA attention back in the day. usa exaggerates it so badly in this movie.

Now these days we have tv or computers with ads with music or nudity and so on. You know the "STRATEGY" they do.

  • @DarkPrinceNH5570 Why do you narrow it down to one country when even you know what there are movies out there from other countries that do the same? The problem with news and entertainment today is that it is able to reach us faster and that puts more pressure on those developing the ideas. There is nothing original left and everyone knows it. You are preaching to the choir..Enjoy the video.

  • This is a beautiful movie. It's funny, smart, lovely, and sad.

  • He sure has a way with words...sexy ;)

  • When Chaucer first introduces "Sir Ulrich" in his speech, the crowd does not react at first because the Czech extras could not understand the speech. Mark Addy's loud prompt was what tipped them off to start cheering. This awkward moment was left in because it made the scene funnier. just thought you'd all wanna know that =]

  • ....walk in his turbulance!

    (awk silence)

    Roland: yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

    crowd: YEAA!

  • i love that they seem to love chaucer more then william. haha he's brilliant.

  • I was hoping the part where he says "God! I'm good" would be in there. The sound of his voice cracks me up! I love Paul Bettany. And great video, he was my favorite in the movie!

  • @crossvariation That was him? Wow.

  • i want to marry this film

  • I'm crying a bit.

  • LOL! I give you.... 'the protector of Italian virginity'

I wish ya would've put in the one at the sword fighting: Behold my sir orich... "It's too late he's already been announced"

  • @Onlinepoetrycafe Sorry, but I decided to include only full introductions and not the partial ones..I know there are 2. If I had, it would have killed the mood of the whole video..

    CLASS FILM! R.I.P Heath...Love youx

  • 3:09

  • Makes me feel proud to hear that Ulrich is from Gelderland.

  • Gotta love how the filming of this was actually a mistake, apparently the townspeople were suppose to cheer at the end of Chaucer's speech but because they didn't speech english....... they needed a little help from Roland.... XD

haha lucky the producers kept it in the move :)

  • 2:34 Heath ledgers face... I died

  • 2:48 .. defender of his .. enormous manhood . LOL

  • his making a speech like ther about to fight in the war lol

  • Paul Bettany is pretty much my favorite person ever...

  • thanks so much

  • @rockykid7 Anytime!

  • how do you take this clip and put it into a powerpoint presentation??

  • @alliebam55 I actually tried doing that once before and to be honest, I was told it was very difficult to do..PP doesn't have the capability to embed videos..Try to find another way. hope that helps! of course, I could be wrong and someone might correct me..

  • @Crucifier61 You're totally wrong. Powerpoint has been able to do video embedding for years. I used it for that back in 2003.

  • @lostisagreatshow Thanks for correcting me. Like I said, I could have been wrong.

  • @alliebam55 If you check out Prezi.com you can make a presentation like powerpoint, but it takes a bit to get used to. Very easy to imbed youtube videos and pictures, and it changes things up a bit from the traditional powerpoint.

  • amazing role for paul bettany! i just fell off a hollow block chair laughing on this intoduction thing! a movie worth a watch... not just once, but over and over again and again! RIP heath ledger! i will always love you and will always be your fan..

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! so funny, really hahaha

  • At 1:15 I love how he begins to lose it... LOL

  • of his enormous manhood,-- excuse me my lord ---- love this movie - best movie ever

  • @stillmissheath2 Hah. I did fine. I was too nervous to laugh. But I went all out to an almost hammy extent, got a lot of laughs and cheering. So I think I did good.

  • The Ultimate BS haha wish he could write my essays

  • i love this movie

  • Paul Bettany is definitely an acting deity. .......he should totally play Quicksilver if there ever were in an X-men movie XD lol

  • The second introduction is the best piece in the movie. I laughed so hard when he finished with the wrestling-like scream I almost choked.

  • @mikosoft I love that part too but the last time, when Chaucer said "Good people, I missed my introduction." that's just intense !

  • Paul Bettany is awesome. =)

Little fact about that first speech:

The silence bit was completely accidental. No one in the crowd spoke english, and the script wasn't properly translated to them, so no one knew they had to cheer after the speech. Thankfully Mark Addy solved everything. =)

  • @Katakuna51 Really?? haha that's great! I also noticed in the 3:40 speech there is a little screw up- he's standing on the Lords chair but at 4:02 it doesn't show him there. Still love this speech though! gives me goose bumps every time!

  • @mgotts3562 maybe he's moved to the rail for the cutaway at 4:02 you can just see his heel - also the nobility seated is looking up at him - although at 4:08 he's off the rail and on the seat arms again - good eye for detail - could tell you really got into it too.

  • "In Greece...he spent a year in silence...just to understand the sound of a whisper..." EPIC!! I laughed so much the first time I saw it! one of the best role playing I have seen indeed

  • Doing the Chaucer speech at :30 for an audition. This should be interesting.

  • @Mifian Good luck on your audition!

  • @Mifian Haha I'm doing the same thing. It's an excellent speech. Hope you do well!

  • @dagniranum Awesome! I hope you do well man! Good luck. :D

  • @Mifian Haha, did it work? :D

  • @thereisallwayshope I rocked it. It was epic. Got callbacks, still gotta get slated for a part, but I got high hopes.

  • @Mifian Haha, awesome! Chaucer never fails ;)

  • @Mifian its one of my few monologues i use!!! I got a job working at a castle as a knight, using it haha, and now im using it in 2 days for drama school. THANK YOU CHAUCER!!!

    So am I :D

  • I Missed my introduction! *Applause*

  • We walk in the garden of his turbulence...*akward silence* Yeah!!!...*crowd cheers*

    lol

  • Crucifer61, I am interested in using this compilation of footage in a presentation I am making, and am wondering if you may grant me permission to use it. A quick reply is greatly appreciated, and you have my thanks in advance.

  • @MeaganHasGotFinesse By all means....ohh and if it is alright with you, Can I see your presentation when it is done and after it has been presented? I'll understand if you don't want though...I just wanted to see what it was used for..that's all... ;-)

  • @Crucifier61 Oh, well, we sort of just used it as an icebreaker. We had a powerpoint presentation afterwards... it wasn't really all that remarkable. But it did serve us well! I was going to video it, but it didn't really seem necessary for how awesome it was.

  • Gotta love Chaucer!!!

  • @leewo5 I don't know what you are saying...

  • @Crucifier61 i know what he/she is saying

  • @RoseofSithis96 Ohh, what are they saying?

  • *akward silence* yeaa......lol

  • YAHHHHH! hahaha!

    I missed my introduction!

  • Days like these are far too rare to cheapen with heavy-handed words .. RIP Heath Ledger

  • I love Geoff! Can I keep him? Can I? Can I? Can I?

  • The bitch at 4:02 looks mad WHY THE FUC*???

  • You can tell that "Just to better understand the sound of a whisper" was a hairs breadth from being an outtake.

Hairs breadth? I've been watching too much Chaucer, I never say that, haha what an inspiring movie!

  • This is Paul Bettany redefining the term: EPIC.

  • Everytime I watch it, no matter how many times, I start laughing so hard, he's just so great :]

  • omg, its Geoffrey Chaucer

  • THE PROTECTOR OF ITALIAN VIRGINITY

  • LMFAO!! i love this movie

  • Thumbs up if you saw the Old Lady cheer before the actual cheers

  • defender of his enormous manhood...lolololol

  • The beginning is the best. The part when the crowd is silent after Bettany's speech. They were actually Czechs and did not understood, what he was speaking in English. Only when Mark Addy (the guy playing Roland), yelled "Yeaaaaa..." did those folks remember, that they were suppose to cheer. The crew found this part so funny, that they added it to the movie. ;]

  • lol im from gelderland in holland xd

  • 1:50

  • i love wat at 1:14. HAHA. gets me every time

  • Paul Bettany is Brilliant.

  • I love that last one - gives me shivers every time.

  • I love this video so so much <3

I just watched the film and I had to watch these bits again!

  • I think it's funny that the heralds name is Geoffry Chaucer and A Knight's Tale is based on The Knight's Tale from Canterbury Tales. (Which was written by Chaucer. =3)

  • R.I.P. Heath Ledger

  • @stigpp Heath Ledger :)

  • I get shivers during that last speech every time.

  • why so william?
