Notice how everyone is complaining that there is no girth on the horses saddle... Yea well there is another video after this one ends with the same girl saying "How to attach a girth to a saddle" lol
Hahaha i love how everyone is talking about how that pads are messed up... They clearly are not?? God people are so hypocritical. These people are just trying to help. Why do some people feel like they can critique them?
@aa14x2 i agree so much, on every single horse video i watch, there are ALWAYS people, mainly girls, who think they actually know it all and leave snotty comments or try to correct the owners 'mistakes'. Im like, just watch the god damn video, it helps certain people out there (including myself) and keep ur techniques to urself and ur horse!! :') x
@aa14x2 Cause they feel like there is one way and one way only, and that is their way. Honestly, I don't ride English but I like watching these types of vids just for fun. :) Being around horses can bring out the snobbiest people. ;)
its funny! this is (expert village) and people always say never walk under neath a horses neck no madder how trusty they r ! people do it but shes supposed to be an (expert)
You cant really you can always just buy a new one or if you go to a profesional you might be able to get them to help but its the thing that keeps the saddle in place so if its broken then you get it fixed, it wont be as strong and that could be a problem.
@Kelpiehorsegirl95 You cant really you can always just buy a new one or if you go to a profesional you might be able to get them to help but its the thing that keeps the saddle in place so if its broken then you get it fixed, it wont be as strong and that could be a problem.
all u people on youtube who have horses and ride them english, could u give me some help+tips on jumping/riding and tacking up?? i have been riding western for 3 years and i just started english so i REALLY need help in tacking up. last time i rode, my english saddle was toooooooo far foward! help!! :)
Just my two cents. Everyone has their own opinion. Not a bad video. For those who are mean with their comments....if you don't like how people do things in their video why don't you post your own video showing how to do it? It is YouTube, it is the internet. Don't take it so seriously.
Actually you can do both with walking behind a horse. It depends on the person you are learning from and depends on the horse you are working with. You can walk far behind a horse or you can walk close. Several people I know recommend 6 feet or further so if they kick they aren't hitting you. If you are closer than that then you should cross right behind the horse with your hand on their rump so they know that you are there and are less likely to spook. If they do kick it won't do as much damage
aokamins11's videos are MUCH more thorough and specific and easier to understand than these expert village videos. And she knows what shes talking about, it doesnt sound like she had to memorize andything... :D
You shouldn't really just plonk the saddle on his back. Put the numnah on his withers and also the saddle. Slide the Saddle and numnah down his back to where it fits. Voila!!
You should really put the saddle on the withers and slide it into place instead of just placing it on the horses back, because the hair could be out of place and if you sit on it back while the hairs gone odd, then its gonna bend the hairs or realease the natural warmth under the fur.
iButterscotch it is the safest way to walk around your horse in close quarters! There is no point in walking far away from your horse just to get around it!!! The vid was practicaly pefect even mentioned about pulling the saddle cloth into the gullet so it doesnt sore your horse!!!!

NEVER WALK UNDER YOUR HORSES NECK always walk rather a far distance behind or in front.
and if you know the horse and the horse knows you, you can go VERY CLOSE to the horse butt running your hand across the top or ur horses butt so they know your there. but you NEVER walk under a horse neck
I do it all the time. I would never do it with a horse I don't trust, but it's not a big deal if the horse is on cross ties and he always knows where you are so you don't startle him. It's not that much different than walking behind them because you're in a blind spot either way. Don't get me wrong, I will never approve of crawling under a horse's belly or sitting between his front legs or any of that nonsense.
Thats anot a saddle its a fucking wannabe jockey saddle and why walk far away from behind a horse all he has to do is back up and kick your too tense i can tell right now your just way to tense RELAX!
It's a hunter/jumper saddle. Of course she might be a little nervous, she's posting a video that people like you might post rude comments on! She's not nervous around horses.

NEVER WALK UNDER YOUR HORSE!!!!!!THAT IS A GOOD WAY TO GET KICKED OR TRAMPLED!!!!Even the sweetest and most trusted horse can spook. If he lunges forward u will get run over.
when u do this, be sure that the horse knows where u are at all times. i made the mastake of not leting him know my location, and he got spooked and reired up. thank god he was tied, because he reired up over me, and because of the tie, he couldn't fully reir up. that gave my an opertunity to push him away whail avoiding the hoovs, and run out from under him. DON'T MAKE THE MASTAKE I DID. IT COULD KILL YOU!
I think you should have a lead rope for sure, but I don't think you are safe just cause you tie them up. If they get claustrophobic they have no where to go.
If you have a 12 footlead rope draped across your arm then you can let them drift to gain their confidence if they need to.
@horselover99100 I realize that. The comment I was responding to said that, "I think you should have a lead rope for sure, but I don't think you are safe just cause you tie them up. If they get claustrophobic they have no where to go." That's why I said there should be a quick release knot. You need to understand the conversation before you jump in and make assumptions.
@satouame i dont even have to have a rope on my pony's halter when shes out in the open to tack her up cuz i kno her an she knows her boundaries it all really depends on the horse

U shouldn't actually walk under a horses neck unless u are certain that they are trained well enough
U shouldn't walk far away from their behind either, if u stand close to the horse, if it dies kick it won't have as much force
U should also run your hand along their back to let them know you're there so you won't accidently frighten them and make them kick

Why do you need the cross ties - If you prepare your horse properly you wouldn't even need to tie it up.

You should always tie your horse when tacking up, doing serious grooming, etc. It prevents nasty accidents.
