WAN, Wide Area Network. As above comments says its for ADSL, but more the the point its meant of means to access the internet rather than the Ethernet which will give only internal IP addresses.
The WAN can give an internal address but mostly used to connect the world to your device or even allow offsite via mobile me file viewing.
Great vid. One question - can i get rid of my current speed touch router and replace it with this? or do i need to buy the extreme base station and the time capsule to back my mac up?
The Time Capsule is a full 802.11n Wi-Fi router as well as a storage device. So the answer to your question is, Yes, you can get rid of your old router. Simply just replace the leads with this one.
yes you can but it took me quite a while to figure out. You have to add something to the settings inside Airport Utility so it shows up on the Network in the explorer. I will try and find it for you if you message me..

@techkid1000 may be not coz nowhere on apple site says that it does external driver

@techkid1000 It's jjust a regular hard drive, that also connects through Wi-Fi.
Actually, Time Machine just keeps everything on a folder, so you have the rest of the drive for yourself.

The WAN port is to connect a cable/dsl modem to. The Time Capsule doesn't have a built in modem.
