As much as we all appreciate the Marine Core Memorial in DC, that statue and picture are inaccurate in that a smaller flag was put up before that just after the battle at Iwo Jima. This larger flag was simply put up to notify the troops below that it was over, and these Marines were simply putting it up. Anyhow, enough history, it's a good tribute

That's not the point the point is that the second flag raising is the one captured in the famous photo and inspired a nation to continue there support for the cause, right when they where loosing faith in it.

I would consider the fame of such a false momentum to be immoral in cause. The raising of a false flag after that of the true original deserves no more, if not less, fame than the first and smaller flag. The battle was already won, and personally, I don't think that the Marines had much influence on the outcome of the wars in the Pacific, most credit goes to the US and Britist navys. But other than that the vicotory at Iwo Jima was one not earned easily, but strategically.
