  • Love Oswald's game play, His and Gwendolyn's story. =) I'm a hopeless romantic.

  • Comment removed

  • Very emotional. but somehow sorrowful and sad

  • Is this game good? Wow, I'm in love with the music.

  • @remaininghope

It's amazing. But it's hard as hell(or maybe I just suck at it).

  • @SuperHapa It is hard even on easy mode boss will rip u apart if u don't pay attention to ur heath meter.

  • @Ichigo1423jfk

They'll actually rip u apart even if you pay attention to ur health meter

  • wow that song is just plain awesome, I never knew that game had such awesome soundtrack.

  • I love this game. I am on Velvets book, Fate and the storyline is just incredible. The music was composed by hishimoto something, the composer of the music in ff12. The gaming is incredible and you can really embrace it and i looks like it is in real life. I recommend this game to all you budding amers out there. Unfortunatly, since this game is ps2, it may be hard to find.

  • I too wonder why leave Cornelius out of the pic?!

  • this song, was so powerful it sent shivers down my spine. good ones! the Exciting kind!!! it just takes my breath away...

    LOVE IT!!!

  • is it just me or does ozwald just decimate in this game so his campain has the hardest bosses! i mean the fire king as a 2nd last geez!

  • I love this song just....beautiful....as the game.

  • I can see the fairies dancing in the sunset when I'm listening to this.

  • This game WAS SO AWSOME! Will never forget about it - much memorable like chrono trigger is. The music, the characters, the STORY and how it all combined TOGETHER. The FOOD that made u wanna eat ur TV and ignited your hidden passion for onions :D Loved every part of it, and been praying for a sequel or something based on the same gameplay. Thanks Vanillaware! ^^

  • I can almost picture Gwendylon, or Velvet singing this (Sorry Mercedes fans ^_^;; ) This is definetly in my top 5 favorite themes, and also the game itself in my top 5 favorite RPG's I plan on finding and getting it again next check, along with a PS2...I kinda sold it and hearing the themes made me get a very late case of Sellers Regret -.-;;

  • @Keto26 Haven't played this game in years, but I'm still backtracking it in my 800+ favorites because I just <3<3<3 the game and it's music/feeling. And here I am again.. xD - *<3* to everyone on this site.

  • When I finished the game I cried.. Love this song & the game... oh gawd now im crying again...

  • Nice list. Personally, I would have included FFX and FFIV.

  • Nice little selection Zapper, not a 'tales of' fan, or just didn't find them ranking? I found alot of their stuff to be real emotionally charged.

  • Mercedes...

  • Is there any better ending then the order cornelius, oswald, mercades, velvet and gwendolyn because it really was quite dark for the good ending?

  • It's a beautiful theme, but Odin Sphere wasn't exactly an RPG.

  • This is a beautiful piece, and worthy of no. 1 :) I recommend a re-listen to the Sol Sanctum music from Golden Sun. That is truly haunting.

  • #1, 4Ever =)

  • you forgot leen's theme from grandia

  • Just out of curiosity, how come FFX wasn't on your list? And this music reminds me of Ghost in the Shell ^_^

  • Loo shoomaku mo alah nabore dwaah dajuu wa

    :3

  • This song...made me get the game :P It's truly awesome. (since I'm a huge 2D fan)

  • Fu kinukeru kaze no koe Todoke yoru no hate made Hajimari no toki Shi zumiyuku kimi no yume Tooi hi no negai wo mamori tsutaeru Tooku tozasareta kuni de Nemuri tsuzukeru Kanashimi sae mo Yasashiku tsutsumu Yakusoku no ame Nakushi ta na wo sagashi te Hate nakichi wo samayou Kegare naki sono te wo nobe Kibou no hana idakou
  • Love this game. I bought it at Wal-Mart for $40 new. And haven't finished it. I only got up to half-way of Cornelius. I loved it but I don't know. Couldn't get myself to finish the game. I think I lacked drive. I used to be so hardcore for JRPG's. *SIGH* I got Muramasa and beat it but I think this is still better. Great choices with music. Loved all of them.

  • Hey, a good song is probably the Fresco Theme from Sweet Home. It might not top #1, but it's definitely worth a look. Seeing how it was never released in the US, many were not really aware of the game's existence.

However, since it was referenced to be the inspiration for Resident Evil, many flocked to the translated ROM of it. In short, it's on par with some of the classics, and what makes it so great is that it was made on the NES. Very few good songs were on games for that console.

  • Oh and I cried at the ending of every nintendo rpg (Quest, paper mario, mario rpg, the first 2 3d zelda games). Even from a subjective stand point though this odin sphere song is probably one of the best songs I've heard and arguably a number one for anyone's who's heard it ( like I did just now) Thanks for the share

  • Wild Arms 2's opener will always make me shoot. Also I'm really surprised aeris' theme isn't on here. I've never finished a final fantasy game ( I like em' they're just fricking long and I forget them) but i heard the orchestral version of aeris' theme and it's amazing. The Kingdom heart's songs that I liked were all by utada so that doesn't count. However my number one is wind nocturne from lunar silver story. Never played it. Gay song. But it makes me cry

  • This games music is beautiful, a pity the game was not as good.

  • @JrockPvWorld

    This game was beautiful so.....

  • Hey Zapper.. this song reminds me of the song in Grandia II, the song sung by Elena.

That's even sadder than this (and beautiful)

It's not in your list yet.

  • I have one suggestion: Final Fantasy X: Wandering Flames: You said its opinion well my opinion is you should make an "honorable mention" list..............D.O.V.E.

  • You know i'm pretty suprised "You're not alone!" from FFIX isn't even on your list :O

  • I think this is the first time a song has never made me tear up with beuaty.

  • Bala666: no doubt about it.

hmm not sure i know that song actually.i haven't had a chance to play ffix.i may have to pick it up sometime.

  • I love this game! C:

  • have u played any of the lunar games? they got pretty good soundtracks as well. great classics the latest being the remakes of 1 and 2 for playstation

  • i have and I agree

  • i think i would have to disagree.final fantasy VI "terra's theme", to me, had the greatest impacting theme song.ah man just so powerful.

  • @mangaka08 for me too. Terra's theme is the best theme i ever heard in a game, along with the "not alone" theme from FFIX. Both master pieces.

  • Game has an epic story, I only cried on Mercedes' endings, her story is so sad and she is my favorite character.

  • I really liked this list, but there are 2 emotional themes that are sadly missing;

    1. June Mermaid - Xenogears

    2. The Day the World Revived - Chrono Trigger

Both are by Mitsuda and they would probably be the top 2 of my list. Anyway, good job on this on and hopefully you will do more of these lists in the future.

  • do u know the song of Drakengard 2 -Growing Wings, its really awsome and really sad too, awsome list

  • a god game is i like a good book you dont read it you live it and this game let living you an epic story with great fight and themes and wonderfull ending

sorry for failures my motherlangauge is german

  • Even though it wasn't released by the time this was made, I think #1 should be Xion's Theme from Kingdom Hearts 358/2. It's undeniably the saddest song in existance IMO

  • I'll look into it if I ever do bonus themes for other categories like battles.

  • @CutManRules that game was such fail. The clock tower scenes failed badly.

  • @CutManRules Roxas' theme was more emotional for me.

  • Haha, when I beat this game I was just completely stunned. The way the story was told and how deep it really dove was amazing, and the final boss battles were amazing and were ineffably epic. But then the ending itself, after you let everything sink in while watching the credits your just sitting there, wowed. If anyone has ever crapped themselves to boss battles that epic and then an ending like that, I can't blame them :P

  • ...great. Now I have to beat Odin Sphere now. This song is that beautiful that after a hiatus too long to remember, I may very well have to put a few games to the side (except MW2; that'll never happen) in order to endure the game. I swear, it took me about 20 hours just to beat Gwen's part, and I haven't even finished the Pooka's first stage.

  • don't feel bad i can't beat the last stage and the thing is im the only one in my school that have this game because it never came out in canada and so no one can help me

  • *speechless from the beauty*

  • ...I'm going to have to say that Oswald is a badass :)

  • Gwen and velvet are the hotties for this game =3

    but i am velvets fan

and i agree cornelius is a total kickass with his double jump and speed

  • No FFVI on your list................wow

Celes Theme, Forever Rachel, Epitaph.....even Awakening. And no Chrono Trigger either.

No WRPGs either, "Water Dragon" from Jade Empire and "Vigil" from Mass Effect....

Celes Theme should be #1, the song it stems from "Aria Di Mezzo Carattere" is a masterpiece an dher theme plays during Celes's darkest moment, her suicide attempt.

  • Indeed.... I expected to AT LEAST see "Searching for Friends", which also happens to be the second Airship theme, and probably the best Airship theme in the entire Final Fantasy series (so far).

  • The game was magical. And so is the music. I love everything about this game. :] It's amazing.

  • man, with all due respect that a music lover deserves, you really should used chrono trigger/cross, tales of phantasia and brave fencer musahiden and ff8 music among this list, i think i didn't see any of them...WHY??????!!!!!

  • It's all opinion.

  • Brave Fencer had good music? I didn't bother to play much of it, since that game was absolute crap.

  • well, maybe it didnt have a such a beautifull song like this one, but once you dealed with the clicheness and horrible graphics at the beggining, you will have encountered a very charming game as an experience that would have made you live a game as a child again!!!(its hard to explain)...paly it through, i seriously recomendt it. That game has something really special

  • A perfect rich beautiful song. Well brought and the song evolves correctly. Definitely one of the best songs I have ever heard so far. Thanks Hitoshi Sakimoto, you've done your role of a great communicator and thanks to the uploader to have brought us this gem. :)

  • good game, this music is so soothing

  • qq so cool *-* oo

  • from 1.03 min starts give me Goose bumps. thats how good this song is

  • I have never played this game, but wow....this song is just...wow, off the charts.

  • i cried when the game ended. it was like wow, it's the end... it was so perfect and complete that i cried.

  • I have this game and im still stuck on the part where i fight Odin but the sometimes when the game starts i just look the background of the beginning and just stare for a couple of minutes

  • This song is the best.I LOVE GWENDOLIN,MERCEDES AND VELVET

  • i loves Gwendolyn too!

  • XD Gwendolin is the most beautiful, but poor Mercedes, the end of her story is very sad

  • yeah...but Velvet...man i had a hard time choosing between Gwendolyn and her...i mean, just look at Velvet's legs and waist...

  • Yeah, the game was repetetive, but the story made up for it.

And the reason there's no Cornelius is because he's a bonafide sissy. Worst character. He had even less backbone than Mercedes...

Oswald would kick his ass any day. :P

  • Yes, I also think in anytimes was repetetive, and hard. Then, the history is impressionant

  • This game was remarkable. I can't find the music anywhere.

  • I can send you a link for it

  • No thanks I just found the music the day I posted this. How do you search for things on Megauploads?

  • Just another comment on how on EARTH could you leave one FF6's Terra theme out.

All opinion like you said. Heh.

  • I'd call Forever Rachel more emotional, but opinions and such.

  • Finally, someone who agrees with me. :D

This is also my #1 Emotional RPG Theme.

  • Never heard of this game before... Gotta give it a try.

P.D.: Wow. Why didn't Terra's song from FFVI hited the top 25? You know, World Map song. It also appears at various cutscenes.

  • It personally did not captivate me much. All opinion.

  • you already have Suikoden II Reminiscence, but Suikoden 4 - Rune of Punishment is good too, even if the game isn't as good, lol

  • Played FF6?

    Celes's theme bro. Celes's theme :(

  • where's

Chrono Trigger - At the Bottom of the Night

on your list it should be atleast in your top 10

  • It's all opinion my friend. *pats*

  • fair enough, this just clicked with me more.

  • is the singer of this song also the one who singed for the legend of dragoon opening video?

  • I'm not sure at all.

  • i dont play that game yet..but i think i give it a try after hearing this song...its great...especially the part from 2.25 till the end

  • 1:11 I agree, Cornelius is amazing ^^ my favorite of them all, but the picture is still awesome ^^ and i love the song.

  • hey how long does this game take to finish? i like games where i can play for at least 50 hours.

  • Around 40 hours

  • Zapper101... I tried the links in the info box, but none of them worked. Would it be possible for you to fix them?

  • Hmm odd, well can seatch for them and find their playlists hehe.

  • Wow... It's been a while since I finished this. I forgot how incredibly beautiful this song is. Thank you for this list, there were a lot of fond memories that I remembered because of it.

  • i love this game it is my fav even though it got me sayin tis alot lol

  • Can't help but notice that there (as good as) all JRPG's

  • I've wanted to buy this game. Is it really good? I dunno what it's about.

  • gameplay is not that bad but the final chapter sucks so bad

  • dare I ask why? is it like epically sad like Dawn of Mana or something? Or is it one of those unexpected plot twists like FFX?

  • if his talking about the armaggedon chapter,it sucks because if you dot pick the characters in the right order you will get a really crappy ending,if you pick right you get the awesome ending.

  • oh, alternative endings! those are always neat

  • sometimes, like in this game for example,if you screw up on the armaggedon book(the one with the characters and the order)you will get the bad ending,if you do it right you will get the awesome ending and 2 extra books,i had to replay the last book 3 times to get the right ending, and its hard, super hard...

  • I've never played thsi game before honestly, but I've heard of it through magazine reviews. is it really good? I might buy it if somebody wants to suggest it

  • its good,it might take you five to eight hours to complete each book(8 counting the extras books)its hard sometimes but its a beatiful and awesome game, its a bit repetitive sometimes and it has slowdown, but when it happens it looks like the game is in slowmotion, wich is awesome,if you like games with good stories and awesome artwork, you sould buy it.

  • I think I will if I find it somewhere, thanks!

  • You won't suffer the slowdown if you play on the PAL version.

  • PAL? Sorry, no knowledge on those XD call me dumb but yeah.

  • wich one?the armaggedon or the something of fire(i forgot the first word)?

  • <3 this game.

  • Odin Sphere is monumental in all aspects except the most crucial one...the gameplay.

Grinding for materials is unbearable for someone who isn't used to mmo games.

Still, this theme is godly and totaly deserving 1st place.

  • I'm really annoyed. I'm at the end of The Pooka Prince levels and my disk snapped and now i cant play it no more. 'sob' 'whine' now i'm gonna miss out cause i can't be bothered to replace it cause i'm reliving good old Dragon Quest games. Great vids by the way. Remembraces deserved 4th place in my opinion but Never mind. a great collection of emotional peices of music.

  • this song reminds me of .hack

  • I like how your list is different than the other shmucks that post top lists.

  • Hehe, thanks.

  • YO pooka prince man hes missing its just not the same

  • Yeah, but I like the picture though. :(

  • Thank you very much for making this list Zapper.

I was rather perplexed running into this beautiful song never even hearing nor reading about 'Odin Sphere'. What's an even bigger surprise is Hitoshi Sakimoto composing this piece as he is one of my favorite composers that I've loved since Final Fantasy Tactics.

It's sad that while I've been focused on real life, I've missed out on so many RPGs. I miss the days of being young.

Thank you again for posting all this beautiful music! ^^

  • I was going to make a count down like this, but the 4 of you used most of the ones I wanted to use. xD

  • hehe still go for it.

  • You're missing Cornelius o.o

I loves this one too, especially that 3rd verse

  • this is good but I would have put the opera from FFVI at the top. It was great.

  • You probably have to play the game to fully appreciate this song, because on its own, although beautiful, it isn't that heart-wrenching.

  • Man going through this I thought for sure 'You Were There' off of Ico's soundtrack would be #1. I was surprised its not on the list hah. This one is pretty good for 1 though. Hearing the CoP song at #2 really made me want to get back into FFXI hahah.

  • Ico wasn't an RPG...

  • Lol yeah that was just a dumb moment for me XD. I was thinking of all-time not RPG.

  • I'll admit I was disappointed since the ending theme to Lufia II wasn't on your list, but nevertheless I respect your opinion.

As for Odin Sphere, it was a fun game and the soundtrack was great, but I prefer the track Sinking into Darkness, at least I believe that's what it's called.

  • This list has many songs I've not heard before but are quite good. But you're missing so many themes Half of Chrono Cross ost(The Girl Who Stole The Stars)and(Radical Dreamers) Your also missing Aeris' Theme and On that Day 5 years ago from FF7 Melodies of Life from FF9 Eyes on Me from FF8 To Zanarkand and Suteki Da Ne from FFX If You Still Belive from Legend of Dragoon Memories of Green and Schala's Theme from Chrono Trigger TERRA'S THEME FROM FF6 will you create a file of the list?
  • I forgot about some songs, mainly the stuff form the chrono games and some I did not get into as much personally. It's all opinion after all, and matters of tastes.

  • What a great choice, anything with a Celtic influence always gets me. Lovely list. Good job.

  • What, no Suteki Da Ne from ffx?

  • Nice song, but it did not personally click with me as much as the other songs.

  • Very very nice choice as #1!

Completely lovely and the signing fits so well ^^

Ever thought of finding out what she's signing about? Would be pretty nice to know.

Well, great list, looking forward to your next list =P

  • Thank you. :)

  • This game is really amazing. I'm in the middle of the second book and I don't want to move on because I'm afraid that my heart might break. Or maybe I'm just exceptionally emotional lately. x]

Hopefully I will play more though, simply because this is a fun game.

Great list and a terrific number one. Looking forward to see your next videos!

  • Been in a (and still am) a huge rut irl, and a lot of things are getting to me personally so it would be a while until next list.
