in my humble opinion, Honda Pilot is still not as good as Land Cruisers when it comes to rugged terrain maneuverability. Pilot is good, but It doesn't have the necessary rugged terrain maneuvering features and technology that Toyota Land Cruisers posses, such as Body-on-Chassis frame, Semi-Floating Axles, Multi-terrain ABS brakes, height adjustable suspension systems and Crawl function. All of them critical to negotiate really rugged terrain. of course Pilot is so much more cheaper too.
@wstcw You're right, the basic frame of a Honda Pilot is that of a car. It's not meant to go offroading. The 4 Wheel Drive in the Pilot is primarily for winter driving. Besides, only a small fraction of SUV's end up doing serious offroading. Personally, the Pilot is a great and very reliable car. That being said I would never take it somewhere like this...

@stifreak14 my family owns 3 chryslers. We have never had a problem with any of them. Bad reliability of chryslers is a myth. 2 of the chryslers i own are over 11 years old. I would love to see a honda try and top a truck as great as the 2010 ram, a car as amazing as a challeger, charger, or 300c, or an suv as capable as a wrangler. They never will. Chrysler goes all out on their vehicles. Honda builds mediocre cars that are boring, underpowered, and ugly. Mopar for life!

BTW the '96 Intrepid i brought up, still wont shift into gear...whole tranny valve body has been replaced, twice...Now we are trying to diagnose and electrical problem with the TPS...We are coming up on the 4th month of non-op...Shoulda bought a Honda
@superduck714 lets see, the 300c/charger is built on a outdated Mercedes Benz platform, Wrangler is a great toy, give you that. 2010 Ram is too new to make in reliability claims...do like the look though. And try reading some reviews on Honda's. All of there cars tend to be a t the top of the class, while Chrysler, somewhere near the bottom. Most of Hondas cars, have great handling, strong power plants, spotless reliability, smooth trannies. List goes on. Only real problem with them, road noise.

And if hondas are so good, why does motor trend say the accord has " ergonomic shortcomings, interior racket, crummy trunk, homely styling, and horrible road noise. And you say the 300 sucks? thats why it has 6 "best of" awards for numerous years and 5 star crash tests? forgot to mention 425 hp!
@superduck714 Honest to GOD I have owned 93 dodge colt, 95 plymouth voyager, 97 grand caravan, 99 voyager, and 2000 grand caravan and every single one has had to have the tranny replaced not to mention constant engine repairs. We now have an 04 Honda Pilot and No its not a powerhouse but i bet in 20+ years it'll still run like new as oppossed to cars that don't last 10 years w/out major work.

What you guys talkn about the pilot is actually a great off roader best in its class I test drive them at honda, you can put them in 4 wheel locking and they do awsome on trails. Its no minivan or wagon it may share the same chassi as the oddessy but its AWD and has bigger stiffer, more rugged suspension and chassi on it, not to mention way more ride hight than a fukn minivan dumbass.
look a honda went down a hill with dirt car and driver should call it there suv of the year grrrrrrrr there should be family crossover/minivan award and real body on frame truck based suv of the year
