nice dreads but Sounds like a lot of work! why not let them be and have great dreads? by fussin with them tryin to get dreads quickly you have prolonged the process! I was ther in @ two months! Heres my tips:1- black; white whatever dread with a crochet needle 2- keep your dreads clean, wash them twice a week 3-use cheap shampoo for oily hair and NO CONDITIONER. 4-blow dry 4- oil scalp after wash to prevent flaking. thats it. just redread/tidy with needle after each wash, eventually they stay.

I'm 100% black, but i had the same problem. My hair is too soft. So I went for a different technique. It's called interlocking. Some people say they aren't "true" dreads, but whatever. They look the same over time. When you first get them done, they look very neat and over time, they look just like the dreads that were made with the palm roll technique. I've had mine for about 2 1/2 yrs now.

What you can do to stop the dandruff is use a different shampoo. it could be the shampoo you use thats causing the dandruff. that's wat happened to me..

Or maybe your dreads are new and your scalp is still getting used to not being washed as frequently as before. in both cases, a new shampoo could help, or some over-the-counter dandruff products might work.

well when you stop washing your hair like you normally do, your scalp will be itchy for a little bit. this is cuz ur scalp isnt going to be used to being washed less. but over time, your scalp will learn to take care of itself without shampooing so often. as for me, it got kinda itchy, but not a lot. i was more worried about the smell than the itch. but luckily, theres a lot of products to stop the itching.

but as far as using wax and shit like dat, i slowed down a lot with all of that. i realized that the dreadlock process isn't gonna happen overnight, and that i needed to stop relying on wax to make my dreads look good. so unless one of my dreads has a lot of frizz or is comming undone, i dont use wax. i just let them be.
