so beautiful. I saw a tv program and the lady's parrot slept in her bed with her. Just snuggled right up. I don't think most people realize just how intelligent, social, and affectionate they truly are.
I m training my grey to go on command. I make it fun using the 'bomb drop' sound ending in a 'splat'
Today I had him on my knee sitting on our leather couch and i thought it was 'about that time' so told him to 'poop, go baby go' and made the sound and he went in my hand, which I held out cuz i didnt think hed really do it lol...better my free hand than the couch XD
we praised him effusively and gave him a cashew for a treat. its gross ya, but sum gotta change diapers so I'll survive heh heh
I've trained cockatiels, a conure, just my Grey is a little... let's say, disobedient? They go on command, unless I haven't taken notice of the time. It's all about timing, mostly.
yea cliped wings are sad, but sometimes necessary. I have a bird and he HAD unclipped wings (he didnt fly much though)and managed crash into something and cut himself while flying around. he then picked out all the feathers (for the record, not a plucker) in the area of the wound and opened it up more. he almost died from blood loss. we clip his wings now just in case. he is just as happy now as when he had all his feathers (except at breakfast when he cant fly over to steal my cereal)
you wouldnt say that if you realized that clipping them means he can go outside.
Its a good trade since otherwise we couldnt bring ours to the park to play. we throw him up inthe air so he gets height and can work his musckes...trust me, I think hed rather go out than be house bound. I am sure hed love to fly too but hes happy and loved and get the sun in his face and the attention of kids.
clipped wings mean more freedom as a pet than some would expect,
I'm not really sure. My grandma bought MJ in 1998 - from a pet store - and I don't really remember. I think it was close to $1000. His cage was either $550 or $600. Hope this helps.
MJ loves his mom and gramma hehe Was funny when he noticed you had the camara. Parrots are so wonderful. Now that I am home fulltime and could give full attention around the clock, I would love to have an african grey.
I have got the same parrot there so fun, shes a part of my family, my lil sis.
