  • I loved the editing, dancers in full flight!

  • I wonder just how the hell much airplay this video got when it first dropped in 1983. Life wasn't anything then like it is now.

  • @roosevelthighschool Constant airplay

  • Talk about bringing back memories. Great song!

  • this was the opening song to her 2011 perth concert, she was amazing

  • The most beautiful song from Stevie Nicks! The second one is "Edge of seventeen" <3<3

    I love you, Stevie.

Your songs much better than the shits now a day

  • True story: Stevie was cruisin' SoCal, heard "Little Red Corvette" on the radio, & pulled over with a fragment of a melody stuck in her head. She called Prince & hummed/sang the melody. Prince showed up at the studio, & without saying a word, sat down & played the entire synth/keyboard riff, laying it down in 1 take. He then got up & "walked outta my life 4ever, like a dream", as Stevie tells it...Amazing.

  • @Tarantulisimo Prince actually played more instruments on this song, but they decided to only use that synth bass he did on the Jupiter-8 that dominates through the entire song. His appearance is uncredited - although he does get some type of co-writer status

  • @TheLOCATION100 by the way all the men in this video are gay so why are you just singeling out the man at 1 13 .

  • The Master!

  • it''s so funny reading the comments here, about how today's music "sucks" and this was "real music"...

I was a VJ in Phoenix in 1983 when this song first came out, and I CLEARLY remember then how people thought this song sucked and how people would make fun of her "little New Wave dancers" in the video and how terrible she sounded and real music was hard rock.

Just goes to show it's all subjective. It would be nice if people we're so judgemental, but hey, that's people.

  • she is enough to make me leave my wife

  • The fairy goddess herself. Amazing!!!!

  • Thanks for putting up the original version!

  • I liked Samantha Obernik's version - until i heard this one! It's magic, she has a great voice!

  • released may 19 1983. fore day after i tuned 3 so i was still 2 when this song was being made. im going to need a walker son

  • i was 3 when this song came out . great talent but this song makes me feel old . i cant believe im almost 32 i mean what happend to the 80s 90s 2000s . i mean im more then half way to 60. i dont get it time keeps marching on.

  • Her voice is so sexy!

  • She is a gifted woman , who has a strong authority, love the voice peace and grace.

  • Stevie Nicks is a Gifted and Beautiful woman and is a Class Act that can't be equaled.

  • Stevie Nicks is a Gifted and Beautiful woman and is a Class Act that Can't be equaled.

  • 5 people stood back.

  • Did Stevie win any awards for this song?

  • i love her shes so awesome!

  • the choreography is simply amazing i love it stevie nicks its a hero :D

  • Stevie is beyond beautiful, her voice is impeccable, but some of this choreography is horrible! LMAO!

  • I used to watch this video on "MuchMusic"...from canada....

  • I so remember when I first heard this song. The year was 1983 and I was born in 1985. Go figure.

  • I can kick it on a run with this on my iPod.

  • Lady goo goo sucks not even in stevie nick's class

  • Sheer beautie!! 1983 was my favorite year in my life growing up!! Mtv actually showed nothing but music videos and it was all rock and roll.

  • @kevieization I remember taping this song on my cassette recorder in 83 when I was eleven years old to take it with me to a trip to our summer home when I lived in Panama. I had a Sony Walkman I use to play this song in my trips and I didn't even know English.

  • @kevieization YUUUP THAT'S RIGHT THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAY'S! REAL MUSIC VEDIO'S NOT STUPID SHOWS LIKE TILA TAQILA BULLSHIT! BUT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BUNCH OF MONEY HUNGRY HIPPY JEWS TAKE OVER THE MEDIA T.V. SHOWS! DAM FUCKIN HIPHOP JEWS!

  • @ogbarris I COULDN`T AGREE WITH YOU MORE. HOW I MISS THOSE DAYS. WHAT HAPPENED?!? I`M IN A TIME WARP BECAUSE OF THESE SONGS HERE. I USED TO WAKE UP FOR SCHOOL WATCHING MTV.

  • @kevieization I sure miss the REAL MTV! Now its just a waste!

  • I LOVE Stevie Nicks.

  • I hate coming to Stevie Nicks videos, I love her but the people hating on Lady GaGa annoy me.

  • @irock1101 Lady GagGag deserves it – she's a talentless hack.

  • @HellBlazerRaiser Sure. In your opinion.

  • @irock1101 It's fact, not opinion.

  • @HellBlazerRaiser If you say so.

  • daisuki!!

  • Gotta laugh at the dancers: early videos had troupes of dancers.

  • @cochranexyz They sure did!

  • Stevie is and always will be the queen of rock.

  • she called Prince, hummed the tune. He came over, laid down the synth and bounced.

  • @hippyblood4 WOW!!! You learn something everyday. I didn`t know PRINCE laid down the synth. Thanks

  • ah the 80's! this is one of the best of all time!

  • This song was influenced by Little Red Corvette. :D

  • 80'ss hair.........

  • Comment removed

  • beautiful song and class act

  • loooooooooove her at 2:29 !

  • I think this video predates Madonna. Stevie and Debbie Harry are quite influential with all of the blond pop stars out there.

  • I love how everybody is spinning around and trying to look cool and not disoriented as hell :D I must admit though, I sing this song like a total fag everytime I hear it.

  • @5stringofFernandoSor Don't worry man, I'm 41 now and was 13 when this came out. It takes a bigger man to admit something like that!! Who gives a flipping crap what other think of you. We were not put on this earth to impress anyone but ourselves, well maybe one other and that would be our mate. Mine is a woman like my old world/old school train of thought!! I can hear the comments now about what I believe is right!! It's called morals in my book....bite me bitches!!!!!!! Bring back my MTV!!!!!

  • Oh now this brings back memories....love it

  • Hmmm.... people act as though this song is old. Am I the only one out of millions of people who scream with joy every time I hear the start and see Her Holyness belt it out again and again at every sermon. Some songs DON'T get old. They get BETTER! This IS the example :-)

  • @Servodude1 so true..so true

  • I love da strat !

  • wow , now this is music people, this brings back so many great memories for me in the summer of 83 when i was 10 years old, playing with my friends, ice cream man came at night, little league, getting nervous going into the fifth grade, just turned 38 man where the hell did these years go.also reminds me of all my loved ones we have lost over the years,

  • That come hither, over the shoulder look in the beginning is too damn sexy. Love the spinning also. That will be how I always remember Stevie, spinning through infinity.

  • The strat is killer !

  • Love her vocals on this song how they were back then than her latest ones today.

  • This is the video from MTV!!! I REMEMBER this video! They say that MTV doesn't play videos anymore...Sad....

  • Stevie hit #5 in Billboard, 8-20-83. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Cowritten by Prince.

  • THE VOICE that others can only ASPIRE TO!

  • The good old days! No Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Fergie...

  • @ArmandoRoqueCCS none of them cunts have shit on stevie nicks even combined they cant even touch her left toe

  • I love Stevie Nicks! :)

  • This song was so ahead of its time, it still rocks today

  • this is in my top 5 songs in my life. this is cool to see the whole video again with the fame like dancers ha ha!, good times..

  • the solo guitar part was done by the late David Williams - the same man responsible for another similar classic guitar riff on Michael Jackson's Billie Jean.

  • I can't understand why anyone wouldn't like her...She's" The Best " How do you think she's lasted this long? Plus she has clothes on...how about that!

  • I can't understand why anyone wouldn't like her...She's" The Best " How do you think she's lasted this long?

  • No comparison to Rhianna,Britney.Kylie.,Stevie is a legend and is the benchmark of these female artist ..loved her songs afrter all these years..

  • @alexnicdao they show their bodies to distract attention from the fact that they can't sing&have zero talent.

  • Excelent dancers!! Of course Stevie is a star, I love her! But THIS vídeo clip she and the dancers equally star this wonderful work! Congratulations! (sorry about my English).

  • Excelent dancers!! Of course Stevie is a star, I love her! But THIS vídeo clip she and the dancers equally stars this wonderful work! Congratulations! (sorry about my English).

  • to this day,, 30 years later,, I still love Stevie

  • "Stand Back", sounds nothing like Prince's, "Little Red Corvette" to me. If this song sounded like another, that song would be CeCe Peniston's, "Finally." I'm surprised "Finally' wasn't mentioned here. "Stand Back" came before "Finally", I think.

  • shes one kinda

  • all hail the queen of rock!!! there has never been anyone quite like her nor will there ever be!!

  • Stong lead guitarists like Prince or especially Lindsey Buckingham could add a lot to her songs with their arrangements, and Stevie has been pretty generous in the past about their contributions.

  • @529wes Agreed. In this case, Steve Lukather (Toto) & Waddy Wachtel shared lead on this song. But I think it's the funky rhythm guitar that really stands out in this song. It was played by the late great David Williams who also played many of the songs on the "Thriller" album.

  • Roosevelt, Prince contributed a small segment of what was basically

    stevie's song.

  • Don'tcha just love the video dancers back then?!?!

  • If the song was written by Prince why didn't he sing it?

  • The way she looked when she sang the "stand back" part at the end...POWERful.

  • Trivia:

She bit this song off Prince's 'Little Red Corvette' [pay attention to similarities in sound]. She then had him work in studio recording. If finally bothered him cause it sounded a lot like his hit so he got up & left. I would have left too.

  • @Hardliner1269 Not according to Prince, who clarified the long standing myths about his participation in recording Stand Back. During a radio interview conducted last year, he said Stevie called him to say his song inspired her to write Stand Back and would he come to the studio to hear ti. He showed up a hour later to hear a finished song. He didn't cowrite or play on it. All he did was program the drum machine Stevie was struggling with. Stevie offered him cowriting credit. He said no.

  • @rickdunn101 When Stevie interviews she said he just got up & left. When I say she bit off his song, I didn't mean she plagiarized but instrumental version sounds TOO much like his. She just kept the same beat inside her & speeded up the tempo. His hit had just been released 3 months before & had not reached TOP status. I respect him for his artistic integrity. He wanted to not be included in the history of this to make sure people counted his hit as well. Him & her both did well.

  • @Hardliner1269 She was inspired by it, and Prince was not upset at all. He actually came down to help out and listen to it! The two became friends. There are interviews that say so.

  • I love Stevie Nick's roque voice! Based on this video, me and my cousin, used to say she could pass for one of Dracula's brides! ha-ha!... Still a great song today!

  • This groove could be a sick rap beat. Where you at Kanye!?

  • Heard this on the radio this afternoon at work. I really needed it! Love this song and the video is hilarious. I'm entranced!

  • @AndresAndres8401 Where do you work and did you sing along with it?

  • 2 people need to stand da hell back

  • Classic 80s. This is when life was simple and dreams had real meaning.

  • I stumbled on this song looking for Britney Spears. Britney is the new Goddess of rock and roll.

  • Great Music of the 80s. Stevie Nicks today, yesterday; and forever.

  • Someone please respond to my comment.

  • An epic masterpiece of the 80's marred by a horrible video. The dancers are pointless. the only thing saving this video is Stevie, herself, and her brilliant song.

  • Now this is the only treadmill I would ever consider getting on...1:54.

  • We must stop comparing La Gaga to every popular female artist of the last 30 years. Please, get a grip.

  • She sounds like a goat. I'm glad i wasn't around in the 80's. What a load of shit.

  • @norgeviking90 I bet you look like one! If you don't 'like' the video, there's the option to 'didlike' it. Nobody wants to see your rudeass comment.

  • Stevie Nicks is soooooooooo HOT.... GAGA doesn't even come close... GAGA would need a 100 life times to even come close to what Stevie Nicks belts out... as an artist

  • oh Stevie!

  • i love this shit right here... ijust love her yo'...

  • I would have to just say that noone does this song better than Stevie Nicks. Not even that bimbo Lady Gaga.

  • The God-Mother of Rock-n-Roll and she stands alone

  • @getnervousedy c'mon there aren't anymore great singers, but don't limit greatness. Pat Benetar still has one of those kick ass voices with no comparison. Stevie Nicks is good but she's better with Fleetwood Mac.

Pat Benetar can make the case for best female rock singers.

  • @gregmmck I 100% agree with you about Pat Benetar she to me is the Queen of Rock-N-Roll with a voice like her's she stands alone as the Queen of Rock-N-Roll but Stevie Is the God-Mother of Rock-N-Rock. Now Stevie is Fleetwood Mac. !!!!

  • @gregmmck I gotta agree with you,I saw Pat out in San Fran. Cow Palace.Shes awesome then and just as good as today.
