I too bought that book. I aim to cover the whole 12 week program on my channel. Your invited to follow along. Thanks alot for your video. You are very helpful.
I was invited to join a challenge that is based on this book. I ordered the book yesterday but was a little apprehensive about it. Your review makes me look forward to reading it. Thank you.
About three years ago, I bought a book "Walking in this world". I sincerely spend few weeks on book, did my journal, walking and an artist date every week. Within 3 weeks I notice dramatically changed in my life. When I was working on the 4th week/chapter, I felt like I really shifted to another world. I really got scared, maybe I was scared to see all these achievements, I am so care to go back to this book, this book really works, its just I am not ready...
Have faith, my friend. We all have the power to change ourselves for the better. You are ready to change, but only if you choose to change. Have faith, my friend, and make the right choice.
I read the book, Julia has other great books, the best I think is, "Answered Prayers," When one meditates and trusts in the divine, nothing stops them. "Gut feelings" are intuition, follow your feeling its never wrong.
yea pretty cool review. I kind of did the same as you. That is just going through the book, and now, I am currently reading it for a second time because it has so many insights that i think is hard to get all on the first time you read it...
You sound like a very intelligent and articulate person. I enjoyed your insight and what you had to say about the book. Just curious though, did you actually spend 12 weeks doing the tools, readings, and tasks? And if so what was your favorite artist date? I run an online Artist's Way Circle and I am always looking for intriguing Artist's Date ideas for myself and my group. Take care :D
Interesting thing about that. Despite my love for this book, I didn't really follow the instructions. I don't like rules and obligations, especially concerning my creativity. I did some morning pages, and some artist's dates. But really, I'm always doing these things, because I'm always thinking, writing ideas, and dealing in introspection. I saw no real reason to formalize my normal activities. So really I just read the book within a couple weeks, and merely dabbled in the assignments.
That said, I'm not actually against assignments per se, particularly when you really don't know what else to do. It's cool to hear that you're running an Artist's Circle. I should get involved in something like that, if only to have a sounding board for my random creative stuff. (I have alot of stuff in my head, but hardly anyone to talk to about it. And I'm kindof wary of putting some precious stuff out on the internet, you know?_
As for Artist Date ideas, here's one (which may or may not already be in the book): invent a fictional place, and draw a map as you go. Don't worry about anything, especially not your artistic ability. Just draw a dot (for instance) and say "ok, that's a city". Then name the city. Make some "^" shapes and call it a mountain range. Name that too. Again, don't worry about anything; just make it all up as you go.
When you make a mistake, come up with a fictional excuse for it. Like if your river takes a right-angle turn at some point say "Um...ah, yes! Of course! That's because of the stupendous aqueducts built by Emperor Schmelian after the war of..." yada yada. I did this once, and I was surprised at how much stuff can be faked and still sound convincing.
