To me Sarrif industries, just sounds like a dump copy of a "wanna be i robot" movie, there's no plan or long term objectives appart from some vague idea of a better world, and we do not have that kind of technology either. Basically, its just stupidly idiotic to even consider, from anyone, investing in such a company.
@DrDeso1 But who says those machines will be as reliable as the human body? Sure, the body needs lots of care and maintenance to work properly, but most of it is within reach of your average joe. maintenance of those machines would be much more complex than your average doctor visit.
@lozoft9 we already use machines to mass produce complex equipment needing 99.9999% accuracy in manufacture. Humans are incapable of it. The maintenance is surprisingly very little actually, and only needs proper program coding and new parts (really easy to do) to keep up production whenever it starts breaking down
@vgcatsfan1 The game is "Against" Augmentations because of Neuropozyne, an anti rejection drug that is pretty much needed to survive. It's highly addictive, and expensive. Most Augmentation recepiants die within a few years.
I seriously think that the game is painting a pretty accurate forecast of the future. When we (humans) really start getting into genetic engineering, when artificial organs and body parts become better than the originals, there will be a lot of people who will feel very strongly against it, and many people who will want it. The abortion issue will pale in comparison. Plus, the 21st century appears to be all about riots and radical activism.
With BALCo, HGH and the plethora of "designer androgens" we're well on our way to an "augmented reality"... Bionics or Hormone manipulation; not too much difference in the two.
@Besik32 Isn't it like it works even today? The winners are those, who put more money, more sacrifice, in their pursuit. And I'm not even mentioning steroid use (which is also a good point btw).
True, but nowadays they have at least bit of decency and keep it in secret. It looks like professional athletes achieve thier level through hard work. With augmentations sports would became boring , because you know that boxer 1 has "SuperArm2000" wheras his opponent has only "SuperArm1000" so it becomes clear that he will win. Another thing, is self-development, I find it plesant that my muscules grow after traning, with augmentations i'm on constant level of skill. :)
@Besik32 What if i'm not interested in petty competitions or thrill of working out; what if i just want to become useful right now, modifiable when i grow bored of one form, design my own modifications when i feel creative?
I'm sure there are plenty of humans who would choose to remain pure and still be into sports and other activities. Augs could take difficult / dangerous / repetitive jobs, rescue efforts etc.
I'm not against augs I just think that it is not proper to use them in sports (as shown in advert) because the idea behind sports is defeating your own limitations with your hard work (unfortunatley idea, not reality) :)
@Besik32 The original idea of many things humans do is about improving ourselves. Unfortunately, most are now defiled by pursuit for most profit with the least effort. Instead of celebrating when others push limits for all mankind, we now see them as mere competition that could jeopardize our status, jobs and whatnot, so we try to push them down, not realizing that we push ourselves down with them.
I've always been wondering.... Leg Augmentations... getting them means you lose your penis, right? Or is it just from the calf down? If its from the waist down, I Wonder how Adam Jensen feels about that.
oh look, you can play the piano and throw a football! Wait i can do that already?
Sarif's Resonse- Yes, but you can spend hundreds of thousands on the upgrades, plus you can get a two for one deal!
WARNING- Sarif Industries is not responsible for any damages caused by augmentations nor is Sarif accountable for all addictions caused by drugs required to consume. Also a small chance of death or self-destruction of users have been reported but not investigated.
@TheUnit332 You are completely missing the point, fool. It's aimed toward people who have lost limbs or the ability to use their limbs. Just watch, when this tech becomes more than science fiction, amputees and other physically disabled people would beat you senseless with their new limbs for saying things like that. Besides, Reed's team was working on a project that would completely abolish the need to constantly inject yourself with neuropozyne. Tell me how they're doing anything wrong?
@StarxDefuZe No. It's advertisement for a video game called "Deus Ex: Human Revolution". Sarif Industries is one of the main parts of the game's story. The character you play as works for David Sarif.
Great , my friends and I went to Sarif and both an augmentation ... Now we will all die because we don't have drugs to suport our augmentations, and it's expensive ....
I have recently been upgraded with the serif industries penis model: PX-Z04, it contains automatic girth and length calibration relative to the female, default ejaculation timer set at 25 mins (can be changed) which can be changed to orgasm sync with female (providing she has the VX series vagina model or above) so you both cum at the same time. I would never want bionic eyes. Think about hackers and shit, if they wanted too, they could make you see whatever. Fucking creepy, I'll stick with my shitty normal eyes insead.
@Mouse979 True. But if you lost your arm or leg then you would definitely think about getting a "bionic" arm/leg or whatever those things are called...wouldn't you?
Wow, this is a pretty interesting Marketing campaign. It actually kept my interest through the extremely long YouTube ad, despite the fact I could skip it. I'm not sure what this is advertising (I think it's a game or something), but I'm pretty sure I'm buying it as soon as I find out.

@Aphradonis Not everyone would want to wear videoglasses, either. What is so wrong with the idea of a non-portable screen? Just because some people wouldn't use them doesn't mean other people wouldn't want to. I personally wouldn't want to use a fixed screen in that situation, but I can't just assume everyone else has the exact same opinion as I do and would also dislike fixed screens, such as you are doing.
@N4zara You're rationalizing a glaring inconsistency. By the time bionic eyes are available, no one will use iPhones and the like. This is not a matter of opinion. I guess that's the music he made for the website which doesn't exist, right? Haha, aw man. I can't imagine how embarrassed you are right now.
My Grandad is a veteran, he lost his foot during the war and has never been happy with his prosthetic replacement. It sure felt bad explaining to him that these 'augmentations' didn't exist.

@superotakufan Oh hey, I just realised that one of the links in the "Suggestions" column to the right of this very video is titled "Michael McCann - Sarif Industries Website Theme". I guess that's the music he made for the website which doesn't exist, right? Haha, aw man. I can't imagine how embarrassed you are right now.

I already knew this was related to Deus Ex when I saw it and I still got chills, I can only imagine what non-gamers were thinking when they saw this.

My Grandad is a veteran, he lost his foot during the war and has never been happy with his prosthetic replacement. It sure felt bad explaining to him that these 'augmentations' didn't exist.

It's interesting how this really doesn't seem that far into the future when you look at the prosthetics that are available today or in devolpment.
Btw the day those bionic eyes are available, thats the day I will have an "accident" with a screwdriver :D
