  • does any one know how to get the 3M Fibrlok II ?

  • Are not good these splice

  • @rdwanasd Why not good? Daily use in many fiber-optic networks in the world to me strengthens the opposite view. Using most GPON networks speaks for itself. ;-)

  • Whats the measurements from a OTDR after a great splice?

  • @James1toknow Average Insertion loss is less than 0.1 db

  • That is a very good number and you achieved this after a mechanical splice,,, I have a fusion splicing class I'm signing up for. This should be fun.

  • Yes they are good, mechanical spilicings are used for example in GPON networks for terminating fiber end customer. Price, quantity and quality fibrloku is a strong reason for the deployment of GPON. This is a good place to use.

  • Yes I know I have done fiber splicing but this was back in 1993-94 we used 3M. It was the Detroit Edison Telecom division. Nice stuff that fiber,,, someday it will be the only thing people install.

  • Yes I agree. That time is coming. In countries where the move from old technology usually choose a solution based on optical fibers. I'm from the Czech Republic and me and our company managed to deploy 3M Fibrloks in GPON networks Orange Slovak Republic which is the largest GPON solutions in Central Europe. ;-)

  • do you know how to get the mechanical fiber splice like the one you talked about?

  • Awesome! I just started using this system and its good to have a training video out there for it!
