Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
I saw these guys at a club in northern Michigan called the Ponytail back in the 60s and they were pretty amazing for back then. I also saw Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels there and a good unknown band called the City Limits.
@ProudKansan08 Yes, both versions are great. They are different enough that one doesn't need to try to rate them against each other. Both stand alone quite well.
I was in high school when this song came out. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area when you're a teenager is something else. I haven't lived there in year's, but I stayed near enough where I can go there for a few day's and go to some of my old haunt's. I'm pretty close to Gordan Waller's age and I'm hopeing I can hold on a bit longer than he did. I wonder if they would have done as well if Peter's sister Jane Asher hadn't been going with Paul McCartney.
These guy's were great. One thing that really helped them was Peter's sister Jane Asher was going with Paul McCartney who wrote a couple of their songs. Ferry across the Mercy also brings back a whole bunch of memories. I didn't know that Gordon waller had passed away.
@Klaaaan1 I agree! This was some great music for a lot of us. I'm even a AC/DC fan along with a lot of other hard rock groups but I have another side to my musical heart.
John1948Ten, Thanks for the extensive research on Peter & Gordon. I knew a lot about them & even saw them in Cleveland, OH in April 1966, but you have even stumped me with your comments. Good job!
A very grand cover on a great classic

While I do like P&G they did not do this song very well compared to Bobby Vee and Buddy Holly.

So beautiful!! Usually I don't like remakes of the already perfect one that came out before, but this is just as beautiful as Buddy Holly's version.

@John1948Ten - there was a Buddy Holly tribute on PBS the other night. A gentleman named Raul Malo sung this song and did a beautiful job of it.

I was crazy about them and loved their music. Paul McCartney dated Peter's sister, Jane Asher, in the very early Beatle days.
