Surpluses during the Clinton years are false. First look at the National Debt... from 1992 - 2000 the National Debt rose 139%. I don't know what economics school our congress went to but when the debt rises that means you spent more money than you took in.

If it weren't for the Social Security Funds being placed into the General Fund the National Debt would be even higher!

Ron Pauls plan is to also eliminate the illegal income tax and IRS and replace it with a combination of tarrifs on imported goods, which will streanthen US production and competition of goods and American buisnesses. This will decrease our imports from Chinia and other foriegn countries. Buy American!!

In combination we end the war which is a huge cost, and bring our thousands of troops home from all the other 160 countries in the world like Korea. I am vetern of the Army myself so I know that overseas pay is an extra 200$ dollars a month, that I would have gladly let go if I was back on US soil.

This only creates enemies because the money solidifies the power of rulers who are not for their people, but for the money. We cannot afford this extravagant foriegn policy anyway, we are broke.

Read his book "A Foriegn Policy of Freedom" it is a compulation of speeches scince 1976 he gave to the House of Representatives. Mike Gravel has a good tax system. I'm pretty sure its a start. Fair tax. Tax what you spend on items. The government pays you back the essentials (food, water, transportation, etc.).

Also the health care you get is what you pay into it.
