using the fide rating system as a measure Fischer's best rating was 2785 and Judith Polgar's is about 2680. There is no way that players with a rating difference of about 100 can spot the other a knight and win. I agree that Fischer's play was exceptional but there are realistic limits to what he could be expected to accomplish.

Polgar also finished last at the one world championshp she participated in. All seven male counterparts finished ahead of her. Fischer's comments were completely accurate then, and the fundamental concept of what he said, regarding women being significantly weaker than men in chess, is still true today. Fischer had no trainers,no chess playing programs to study with, no internet databases, etc. And in 1972 there were only 88 GMs with 33 representing the USSR. Fischer achieved the Grandmaster title back in 1958 when there were even less that..
Today there are well over 1200 grandmasters. The title does not mean the same thing anymore.

It's as silly as saying that since there has never been a brilliant or greatly intellectual slave, slavery should not be abolished and slaves should continue to be servants for their masters. using the fide rating system as a measure Fischer's best rating was 2785 and Judith Polgar's is about 2680. There is no way that players with a rating difference of about 100 can spot the other a knight and win. I agree that Fischer's play was exceptional but there are realistic limits to what he could be expected to accomplish.

How would he fared against Karpov? We're left in speculation, but I think he'd accomplished his dream, and gave up on chess, so it's pointless to call it.

Polgar also finished last at the one world championshp she participated in. All seven male counterparts finished ahead of her. Women around the world have been free to participate in competitive chess for decades; but their participation numbers prove they remain largely uninterested.

And aside from her there isn't another woman even close to being in the top 100. And in today's chess world, there are lot's of women who are professional chess players who put in the same amount of hours studying and training as the men do. Personally, I love having women playing chess, but the advent of watered down women's titles and women's only tournaments is dumb.

Just as is the case in chess, poker requires no physical strength, yet women are collectively much weaker than men at that as well. Women, historically, have never been very good at things which demand meticulous decisiveness and sophisticated strategic thought. Their strengths like in other areas, such as emotional manipulation, empathy, domestic chores, etc.

Fischer's comments were completely accurate then, and the fundamental concept of what he said, regarding women being significantly weaker than men in chess, is still true today. Judit, at #32 in the world rating list is the exception that proves the rule. No other woman is even close to the top 100 list. But even Judit is not even close to being in contention for the world title.

If you recall after WW2 everyone started to realize the capabilities of women after they took over jobs vacated by men who fought in the war. Fischer had no trainers,no chess playing programs to study with, no internet databases, etc. And in 1972 there were only 88 GMs with 33 representing the USSR. Fischer achieved the Grandmaster title back in 1958 when there were even less that..
Today there are well over 1200 grandmasters. The title does not mean the same thing anymore.

Kasparov's exact words are that Fischer has made enormous contributions to the game, both in terms of theory as well as popularity. Kasparov also said that Fischer should be credited with being the founder of professional chess, as it was his actions that led to respectable prize funds for tournaments and championship matches.
