Thank you for posting the original white openings. I remember seeing this one the 1st time, and thought the tornado killed half the cast! I said "oh, no where's Janet?" Great memories!

It's actually always been one of the forerunners for Black characters and families nearly all of its run... I don't remember the 70s, but during "my time" there were the Baxters, then the Fryes, and now the Baxter-Hubbards along with other characters that weren't necessarily related to the core African-American family. Y&R has always done this well too... ONE LIFE isn't too shabby either.

Yes, it was. On January 3, 1995 a new opening debuted in the pearls format for the 25th Anniv. week. On January 4 the B format, Locket, debuted. In 1996 the locket version became opening A.
