You do have good taste in men hun.... lol. He does look witty and charming indeed. Wow... Love the background music you choose too... Lady, you are classy!! :)
@WhisperCrystal awww thanks so much. I grew up watching Errol. I havent had time to pay much attention to my page but I plan to change that soon. I absolutely love your channel :o)
Bettie Davis was discusted by having to act with one she thought was just an unskilled upstart rascal n not a real actor. That slap she gave him - when you see the film you'll see the look of shock on EF's face - that SLAP was real. She dissspized him. But she came to appreciate him as an actor. But... did he appreciate having to do love scenes with her?
@salinagrrrl69 I'm almost finishing reading Errol flynn's autobiography and according to Errol she did hit him full force - but only in rehearsal - he was so furious at this assault that he warned her if she did it for the actual movie take she would regret it,
He goes on to narrate that she held back in the finished movie take and skillfully missed him while making it look like she did.
Best book I ever read was the Charles Higham biography...Errol Flynn: The Untold Story.......I think I ended up buying 3 copies...I kept loaning them out & eventually I'd have to replace them. It was such an exciting read. Every man wanted to be him & every woman wanted him........The guy packed 10 lifetimes into 50 years.
Higham is a Bastard of the highest order and he was the one who they were trying to sue. About the only true thing in his book is the name "Errol Flynn".
If you want a decent biography, read one by Thomas McNulty or Earl Conrad (the latter was Errol's ghost writer for "My Wicked, Wicked Ways").
Back in th Summer of 1980 I took my Daughter to NYC's Delacourt Theatre in Central Park to see Gilbert & Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance" and just as th play opened - swinging down through th air from a mast high aloft came th 'Pirate King' in all his pencil moustachioed panache as played by a young Kevin Kline...I would have sworn it was my childhoodn fave ~ Errol Flynn! At that point & time in his career Kline may well have given a worthy representation of th swashbuckling Flynn but alas...
He was a known spy for the nazi party and took many pictures of naval installations around america and britain, the roosevelts gave him safe passage, even though his passport was terminated. he was questioned for espoinage several times. considering this, he was still a great guy with an awesome life
@sd1v8 there are two certain authors who make these allegations, which have since been proved to be untrue. Errol's daughters have tried to sue the first one but there is no law against defamation of the deceased, which is why they get away with writing lies about dead people to sell books :(
Errol Flynn does not need lies written about him, his life was interesting enough as it is.
@sd1v8 This is B.S.- he was never any kind of spy. This theory comes from the trashy Charles Higham book of 1980 about Flynn. It has been proven false many times since then. Flynn's political views were actually rather liberal. He was a friend and admirer of Franklin Roosevelt, and did his best to enlist in the U.S. military during WWII (he had become a U.S. citizen). He gave generously of his time to the USO, and had many parties for visiting servicemen. Don't believe all this Higham garbage.
Great five minute retrospective. As a sidenote, I am looking forward to the next Robin Hood movie with great trepidation. Another Aussie, without the looks, charm, humour and even, tights, of Errol Flynn. Lots of re-makes, but only one Flynn and Warner's of the 30's-40's.
When my uncle introduced me to Errol Flynn movies, I was a big fan of Gilligan's Island. Then my uncle said he couldn't believe Allen Hale's son was such a goof ball. Does anybody get that? I bet I can guess your age by your response.
Inolvidable actor, cuántas veces habré pasado en mi adolescencia viendo sus películas de piratas junto a mis amigos, no me cansaré nunca de ver sus películas, que te transportan a los tiempos de los piratas, reinas y reinos.
@tasmaniac60 - I hear ya! Errol Flynn was a man among men and a movie star among movie stars. I love ALL of his movies (Edge of Darkness), and especially like reading about him as his real life was as exciting as his movies - leaving England for the US because some angry husbands wanted to kill him, etc. There will probably NEVER even be an actor who can do a biographical movie of him because he was so cool. The REAL "Tasmanian Devil," Errol Flynn! :)
If he hadn't drank, he would be beyond Hollywood Legend, but unfortunately he fell into the addict trap. Still, one of the all time great adventure Stars ever.
@theflorgeormix Yes he ruined his looks thru booze! ..but he knew it . He used to say "I know what they say about me behind my back How I've aged"] He wanted to enjoy as much life as he could !! Forget the consequences or the time spent here!~
I'll always remember what David Niven said about ER - "One thing you could count on with Errol- he would always, always let you down." That being said he goes on to tell tales of his charm and energy
I am sorry but I do not believe it is possible to remake a Flynn film (if you expect it to be better). Remake it to be different, fine, but it's not possible otherwise!
A remake of Captain Blood would be a re-imagination of the book.
Surely they wouldn't intentionally remake the film, when there is so much fabulous Sabatini to work with, and from which to adapt a different screen play.
it's not in that stage yet i guess. Philip Noyce (The Bone Collector) will lead the project and might be the director. i wouldnt know who could play Blood. ewan mcgregor? bruckheimer called orlando bloom 'the next flynn', but i strongly dissagree.
Eeek ghads!!! Orlando Bloom?? Dear God NO! Hugh Jackman would be great in that role but what do I know. I just love looking at Hugh Jackman. But since both are from down under...who knows
As I heard - and I quite agree -- he has sex-appeal like a snail. I don't want to make offense, it's not a personal attack, but, pleeease, don't ask him to play once again as a romantic hero (Australia...). Although O.Bloom wouldn't suit to Blood as well ;)
i hope they'll do it justice cuz i don't think anyone can do Captain Blood like Errol Flynn can! i'll have my fingers crossed and hope that it will be a more than decent movie.
Bardzo ładny montaż. Errol Flynn był znakomitym aktorem, który potrafił zagrać perfekcyjnie grane przez siebie role. Szczególnie lubię filmy kostiumowe z jego udziałem: "Captain Blood", "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" czy "The Sea Hawk". Wielu jeszcze nie widziałem ale z pewnością nadrobię zaległości. Stare dobre amerykańskie kino.

Errol was certainly one of a kind, and as the famous song goes " oh Errol, i would give anything just to be like him" truer words were never spoken.
Errol was a real man, dignified and classy and he had that marvelous aussie trait of being a bit of a rat bag and scoundrel now and then.
