I would LOVE to put my daughter in a school for the deaf. My husband and I are both fluent in sign, and love deaf culture. I think it's a way better idea.
Your experience was one of many. I am from NY but I live in GA, and while there are many Christian Homeschoolers around, there are just as many,if not more regular-people-type homeschoolers!
LOL! "I'm Christian and I thought they tried to convert me to Christianity." Perfectly said. Too many atheists and agnostics don't realize there are different levels to religion and evangelists you see on TV might not be like your Christian neighbor. Great analogy.
I have some experience with signing... it isn't simply a language but also very much related to culture and religion. For instance a man is up here and a woman is down there; a child is down here and an authority figure is up there... talking about positions of hands and facial expressions during signing. It is a good and decent language to help one adapt. Spelling words is seldom used plus they can cuss like a sailor using every term you have ever heard.
When I first started scuba diving I was thinking how convenient signing would be. But unless your buddy knows it too it would be of no use underwater.
I appreciate so much your input on this subject and how wonderful of an idea to build social acceptance and skills between kids that can hear and kids that cant
You're welcome|| I don't have a comfort level in my videos yet, especially when I think I may be presenting something that others may take the wrong way||

Watch AMERICA'S GREATEST THREAT- the federal reserve. This is why I homeschool my kids. We have truly been lied to.

I lived in Brooklyn for awhile and I'm glad I didn't carry that accent with me. I am living in Manhattan for a lifetime already - 30 years.
