Some Europeans were driven to the New World by a hope for gold, and in our day we are pushed to look under every rock for petroleum. Is the drive to Lake Baikal for exploiting the water and the opening of a musical about a new group of "uncivilized" people? Perhaps not, because we humans have matured, and we love our enemies...yes? An engineer of the Golden Gate Bridge, and many others have proposed the connecting of Siberai to Alaska - we can do it without selfish intent. Will we?
I still say that this would have been a humorous question to ask of the candidates. Gravel might have an advantage over the other candidates since this issue involves his state, but the look on some of their faces when confronted by this question would be priceless!
