  • Incredible routine!

  • hmm wow thats scary. she executed that routine perfectly !

  • I teach 13 yr old girls that look 18 and 18 yr old girls that look like 13. They are all different and it's hard to tell when you get into upper level competition. Most gymnasts are small and look 3-5 years younger than their actual age.

  • well how old is she?

  • This is my favorite routine from Kexin <3

I truly believe that Kexin was of competition age in Beijing. The Beijing Olympics meant A LOT to Chinese team. They have been scouting and planning since before Athens. There's no way they would jeopardize their position by cheating the gymnast's ages this time around.

  • jesus christ!!!!!!!! wtf. a release with a half twist followed by a release?? those chinese are insane! lol amazing stuff

  • No one is lying about Kexin's age. She is sixteen. Most female gymnasts weigh basically nothing and are usually about 5 feet tall or below because of their training. Look at Shawn Johnson and Jordyn Weiber for example.

  • she is

    so amazing.

  • Oh man! What a amazing routine. Sorry don't take this affencive though but chinese gymnasts kips are different then what the americans do. Just sayin'. She is truly amazing!

  • haha wow her vocab. the chinese are known for their ... impecable work. WOOA HO HO HO HOOOOO!!

  • Tasha Schwikert only has one word in her vocabulary: HUGE!

  • I dont think there should be an age limit for the gymnasts I think you should be able to go in based on your score, not your age

  • @danasuperstar Sorry but she was 16 there.. yes, she seems young but it doesn't mean that she's underage..

  • @danasuperstar And whose better on UB than her at any age?

  • yes, it's true they do look younger. my math teacher looks 30 buts she's like 45

  • Asians look younger than europeans/americans as it is. i spoke to a japanese woman the other day and i persumed she was 24, turns out she was 32! they are small built, tiny ladies in general. American girls tend to look 19 by the time they reach 14. FACT. so this whole age issue is just a waste of time.

Americans need to learn that when they win they wn, when they lose they LOSE. ENOUGH with the pointing of fingers/ excuses. jeez

  • @maysoon24 I understand where you're coming from but there was confirmation from China that several of their gymnasts had been underage at the time of the olympics. The reason that this was such a huge deal to us was because we understood how younger gymnasts are trained so fearlessly in the sport and conditioned to perform better. Their smaller stature makes them complete flips and twists sooner and added quite an unfair advantage to Team China.

  • she miss one hand in the beginning

  • wtf on the beginning sooo cool!

  • i LOVE this routine !!

  • the only deduction i saw was that her feet came apart on her jaeger layout but other than that it was amazing haha!

  • Release sequence at :18 was AMAZING!

  • es una geniaa!!

  • i guess its fair that she won the gold in bejing but im just a nastia fan so i wish she won it sooo bad

  • he kexin has alot of awesome tricks on the bars and yang linlin is graceful on the bars this is great

  • jairgend jemand lust und laune af bissl cam chat mir ist so öde :(

  • Not "people keep saying", but ONLY some Americans keep bashing Chinese girls! Please don't rape world's public opinions. That's why some Chinese gymnasts bashing messages got thumbed down by fans from all over the world.

  • @russiangymfan

thats a weird way to describe world's public opinions.......

    :)

  • Ok, someone explain this to me. Was the Chinese team really underaged? cuz people keep saying that were and theyre getting thumbed down so I dont know what to believe

  • To be honest, the only answer anyone outside the Chinese government can give you is we don't know for sure. There are problems with both theories. The official answer from to the FIG and IOC is no. There is no proof to back up the claim that they were underage.

The reason so many people get thumbed down is that many feel that the age of the gymnasts isn't relevant on youtube. It isn't as though they had a choice, and it doesn't make their gymnastics and less entertaining or beautiful to watch.

  • Was this before or after the oympic games?

  • BEFORE

  • okayy thankss! :D

  • Who is that woman commentator

  • tasha schwikert

  • its no pain no gain

  • i hate that woman commentor

  • i love watching her on this event!

  • everytime i see her routine i go like that :O

    her routine is soooooo Amazing

  • she so...flippy:)

  • you don't know what her childhood was like. she could truly love gymnastics and had loved he coaches and friends. let's not be presumptuous or judgemental

  • @missjpace No gain no pain. She surely doesn't have a childhood that normal people have. But think what she has achieved, winning TF and UB gold medals in Olympics which is something most of the people will never think of in their lives. That is what takes to be great.

  • You're absolutely right; she is great and she has achieved a lot. I'm just saying it doesn't hurt to sit back and question what she may have been through. Especially in a country where children are not well protected from extreme measures. Alexandra Marinescu was also great....she was locked in a room for several days without food. No pain, no gain I guess though.

  • I see your point, but things are getting different now. One may pity those kids when they do tough moves that they aren't capable of. But He Kexin is certainly not that type. She is capable, and can still go above and beyond. I don't think the Chinese coaches are so harsh that they will ever do those kinds of brutal things to her. If ppl find out, esp the US, they will certainly make a loud noise abt that.

you are definitely right about no pain no gain, she was once injured, but now she is ok:)

  • @missjpace WoW, what a great coincidence ? That is what I am thinking when I look at your comment.

  • I love He's routine, but her Li-Ya salto combination looks a bit flat compared to how Li Ya did it. Also Li Ya had the double pike half in dismount (I think the same as the one Ksenia Semenova uses?) which was also very difficult and original.

  • The girl talking sounds like alecia sacramone.

  • @BrennanPatrick14 - I think it's Tasha Schweikert, but I may be wrong.

  • I absolutely LOVE 0:17!!! It's one of the hardest to master, I've heard (I don't know anything about gymnastics. Sadly. I love this sport!)

  • shes amazing but i wish she could keep her momentum it would be even better

  • Comment removed

  • Does He Kexin ever compete on any other apparatus?

  • she has a solid DTY on VT

  • now she's trying for all around, and shes pretty good. Therefore, she's trying for floor vault and also beam. In the 2012 olympics, I think that they're only allowing 5 gymnasts to compete, so they each need to be able to cover more.

  • beautiful giants

  • This kid is a f*cking superstar on the bars...!

  • Amazing routine!!!

  • Damn, she was born on exactly the same day as i were... 01-01-1992, so she was 16 in the vid and she's 17 now. She looks really young there though...

  • I love Nastia Liukin (she's my favorite gymnast), but Kexin's routine is AMAZING to watch!

  • i think that this is the second time that she used the li-ya in a competition, i forget where the first time was... but back them no one knew her name, and then here, they watched out for her and she won

  • @happystuff12345:

This wasnt her second time doing the Li Ya release in a competition. She had already competed it in 2007 Intercity Games and Nationals before^^

  • sorry, i meant at an international competition

  • h, sorry, I missunderstood you^^

  • it's ok =)

  • OMG, i would like to be like her in gymnastic ! That's very great ... Sorry for not good english : i am french ^^'

  • who cares....! OUTSTANDING ability

  • Wow. She is really good.

  • She's 16, not 14, AND I HAVE PROOF TO BACK IT UP.

  • omg i can't believe people are STILL arguing over the Olympics! BOTH the Chinese and American gymnasts are awesome! they were both so many points ahead of everyone else! every single medal that was won was deserved! competition shouldn't be this hostile. i agree with gymislife96- lets pretend all gymnasts are the same nationality- human. then we can really appreciate ALL of their hard work!

  • Sorry, but I'm afriad a true-hearted Chinese man would never even pretend to be equal to the blind and ignorant white man. They never had, never are, and never will be.

  • well, Romeoblackwater, i'm sure you are very "true-hearted," but that comment itself is quite ignorant. you are correct, there are many ignorant Americans. there are also many Americans who aren't ignorant. I'm sorry that you have apparently only come across ignorant ones, but tell me- if this is the only judgment of whites you can make, then how ignorant are you? I am American, and my attempt at solving an ignorant argument was replied to with another ignorant and prejudice comment.

  • That was a very ignorant comment. Scientists have proven that there is no difference between the races. There are ignorant people amongst whites, as there are in the asian population.

    Don't confuse racism with true-heartedness.

  • It was u.s. media, american coaches and some american fans who have been bashing Chinese gymnasts for months! Chinese even honor Shawn Johnson in their gymnastics Hall of Fame. Please type "Shawn Johnson hall of fame" to see video clip. Everyone can tell who are more civilized.

  • I cant wait till 2012 when everyone will die.. then finally, there will be peace on earth. Alleluia!

  • uhm.. you okay?

  • ur wierd, and that probably WON'T happen

  • c always starting arguments . I was talking 2 everyone. Why do u hate americans so much. I don't hate the chinese. In fact Yang Yilin and Cheng Fei r some of my favorite gymnasts but all other people do is bash on other gymnasts. Lets just pretend all the gymnasts r the same nationality. Human

  • i thought the judging at the olympics was fairly ridiculous on both sides and i don't see the point of arguing on youtube. What's it going to solve. All you're doing is getting yourself angry. Plus you're getting other people angry, and that is exactly how war starts. Be the bigger person. Come on, people have been arguing about this forever. Chinese, you got your gold k? now stop complaining about nothing. The olympics were a year ago.

  • The Chinese were NOT the ones complaining. Americans were being lying and sore losers.

  • FUCK YOU!!!!! Accept it, sore loser.

  • innocent until proven guilty

    quit complaining

  • The best bars worker in the world! Kexin has all: innovative moves, difficulty, excitement, and near perfect form.

  • he kexin is amazing, I made a listening class with one of her routines. lol

  • At least Chinese don't take drugs or smoke weeds!

  • i like her bar routine, it's cool

  • was this the 1 were Nastia was bitching because she thought she was more graceful which she was but the Chinese had more difficulty?

  • probably is

  • Yes it is, but it was in the olympics

  • lol...and you think i don't know this? lol

  • she is very inconsistent on sticking her landings...and btw, Beth Tweedle had a higher diffictuly value (7.8) in the routine that she presented in Beijing 2008...

  • Ya I agree, hope she works this out soon! even in her show events after Olympic 08...still inconsistent.

  • how the fuck is underage cheating?

if you want to be an olympic champion, you should be expected to be a supposedly 14 year old girl

if you can't even beat a kid, dont expect to be olympic champion

  • yes, but having less years of training doesn't. and one can be tiny even if is over 14. i never understood that stupid age rule. if you're that good, you should be aloud to compete. i'm not saying that cheating is ok, i just wish they take this rule out. if they would have it in the 70's, we would never see nadia at her best. and i/m glad they didn't have it back then.

  • people keep saying "oh you should be proud of these girls for competeing against older girls" when you should actually be proud of girls like nastia who are older and have the same start value. peak time for a gymnast is between 14 and 16 so it shows true talent if you are still an amazing competitor years later. also yes being younger means less training but being older means more injuries which is way worse.

know what you are talking about before you speak.

  • The age limit is there to protect athletes from exploitation by their countries. Look up Fu Mingxia (diver)- it was scary, how mercilessly the Chinese government pushed her. It's because of her that we have the rules now... And you mention Nadia. Yes, it would have been a shame for the world if she hadn't been allowed to compete at Montreal. But given that she tried to kill herself just a year later, I think the need for protecting young teens from all that pressure sticks...

  • I agree with you Kalibasa -- the age rule is there to help prevent douche-bag coaches from being able to exploit these young girls.

  • definitely

  • To Lightninglazer96: Could you please ask any American gymnast to do Kexin's hard skills and smile through her routine? Some people just don't have any common sense.

  • only an aisian could do that

  • Wow! Her form is amazing!

  • Nastia's mount is a long hang kip...

  • Your probably more into gymnastics than I am....what is your opinion then (based on your comment) to the mounts used on the beam today?? I mean a simple leap onto the beam as supposed to a front somersault or layout as performed yesteryear? i'd like to see more of the gymnasts take a risk on the mount....unless of course it doesnt pay them anymore in terms of points since the restructering of the system.......

  • there are actually many hard mounts on bars and beam. i guess most gymnasts just wait to do the hard stuff when they are actually on the apparatus or when dismounting.

  • simply amazing

  • No, He Kexin does not train 24/7! All Chinese gymnasts take classes (language, math, science, history, art, etc.) during the week. Their meals are very good, too.

  • haha! so accomplished.

  • I think the Jaeger half is the Li Ya. Combinations don't usually have names.

  • Thats what I said: the Jaeger into immediate Jaegar half is called a Li Ya! Named after the lovely Li Ya who performed it first.

  • No. The combination is not the skill that is named. The Jaeger half without the second jaeger is the Li Ya.

  • as ppl can see she is so good at this. i believe she trains 7 days a week and 12 hours a day. she has talent and paid the time and hard work,so she deserves the gold. then y there still are sum jerk bullshit about her age!

  • seriously. 12 hours a day! When does school come in? These must be some dedicated children

  • that's right!

    but all athlete does sacrifices.

    how about Nadia Comaneci!

she was 14 when she got first gold!

    and trained even harder!

  • They don't train 12 hours a day. They train 8 hours a day and 6 days a week.

  • Amazing

  • Nastia Liukin had leg separations on every single giant. She also had big mistakes.

  • Nastia does what most taller gymnasts do, she does a straddled giant or an accelerated giant that are usually used for dismounts because they give you more power and momentum. The straddle giants are an easier way for taller gymnasts to get into a handstand position and avoid hitting the low bar. Nastia, Marie Sophie Hindermann and even Svetlana Khorkina all do/did the straddled giants.

  • Are they in the FIG Code of Points?

  • The difference between Kexin's straddled giants is that nastias feet are around three inches apart, so they don't look straddled. It looks more like a mistake.

  • yangyilin is better than liukin

    liukin i s a great gymnast

but liukin is not the best in beijing

  • She is the best!

  • .... I cant say that Nastia is not good, but they are both super :)

  • You know a major problem with some Americans? They believe what they want to believe, not what a real world is really like! Media only enforces these people's wishful thinking, media is also fooling itself and is often in complete delusion. This is not good for u.s. People need to know a real China and a real world to be able to compete with others, not bury their stupid heads in sands and feel good. Could we call this phenomena "American psyche"?

  • I believe this competition was in 2007. no one can smile or giggle when she does such a difficult routine unless she is completely insane. When nbc shows Chinese gymnasts, they always match it with sad and funeral like music. they use all brain-washing tactics to give American public an imagine: lives of these gymnasts are miserable and they desparately need us to save them. Some idiots then have delusion that they're world's savers though they cannot pay their own bills.

  • Just let them to believe that we are experiencing plight. It would make them feel better, particularly in current economic situation. ^_^

  • She's phenomenal! Congrats to all of the Chinese team :)

  • Are you saying that Chinese are abused? as your media has been lying to you and brain-washed you since you started to watch TV? Chinese team is like a big family, and Chinese gymnasts are some of the happiest people in gymnastics community! They all grow up as well-around and well educated human beings. They respect their parents and coaches; they don't do drugs or smoke weeds like that "role model" Phelps has done! Liukin almost never smiles, are you saying that she has been badly abused?

  • im not saying they are abused, ive never heard that, its just im surprised she didnt smile...and i agree, liukin is also very serious

  • They are definitely not serious, I have been watching so many video clips about them both in the arena and outside the arena. Apart from being gold medalist, they are not that different from other people who are at their age and all of them are very cute.

  • The chinese train them to be so serious about it....scores 16.850 and doesn't flash a smile?

  • Actually, there were TWO investigations and all the gymnasts were CLEARED.

  • don't they have to be like, 16? You know, 2 be in the Olympics? They used to let anyone despite their age go, but now they have 2 be 16, right?

  • yesss. that's correct.

  • No, they didn't let anyone go, no matter what age. You had to be 14. Nadia was 14... The age rule is stupid. But this girl was the correct age... If you see interviews with her, she is very mature. And asians look younger and Nastia Liukin even said that gymnasts usually look younger than they really are.

  • He Kexin just has a baby face, she is actually taller than Jiang Yuyuan. Jiang just celebrated her 17th birthday on Nov. 1, 2008! If you ask most Asians how old Sacramoni and Liukin look like they'll say they look like 30 years old.

  • Thats mean, seriously get your ass up there and do it.

  • lady commentator said she never saw that move on womens ub before.. its liya's move liya did it before.. hmm.. = /

  • It truly is an awesome routine. It's unfortunate that her great talent at the Olympics has been overshadowed by the age controversy-but here at the World Cup-truly spectacular.

  • omg i hate these announcers!

  • Too bad that Deng Linlin is not a hamburg eater. Deng is lucky to look young. Another Chinese girl that some Americans think she looks underage is Jiang Yuyuan. Jiang is actually 17 now! She just celebrated her 17th birthday on November 1, 2008.

  • ok heres the deal: if u want to be an Olympic Champion, u should be able to beat a 12/13/14 year old girl

if u cant, too bad. guess the gold medal doesnt belong to u

who the fuck cares if shes underage? if ur olympic champion u should be able to beat any1

  • here is the deal: if you are a loser, face the reality. harsh, isn't it?

  • Here's the deal-if you cheat even if you're not caught-you're a loser. There's is no proof He Kexin was too young for the Olympics-but you seem to imply that it's okay to cheat-and win.

  • Ugh this female commentator is reeallly annoying....

  • I personally like this routine much better than Nastia's. It has so much more interesting elements in it and it just flows

  • Yeah, Nastia seems to just spin around and do mainly swings and stuff, she doesn't have many releases.

  • I think He's routine looks much more spectacular-much more dynamic than Nastia's. But all those 'spins' and 'swings' and stuff is very difficult too.

  • Oh, yes the pirouettes are extremely hard, that's how she gets her difficulty..

  • That' pretty much it. Her dad designed Nastia's routine-he knows how to work the code for sure.

  • Yeah.. She was the first to have a 7.7 value, and then once the Chinese met that, I think they should have looked for a way to make it even higher, like connecting he pak to her tkatchev. then it'd be 7.8 and match Beth Tweddle.. Or her geinger is extremely high, she could probably work a full into that and then she'd be up to an 8.0 I think.
