Religion can effect people like drugs, in such a way that it can seperate people from their family and friends. It can also put people in a time warp state, by forgetting to take care their responsibility or it can making them unaware of time. Also, it can destroy one's potential of susses.
i use to believe in religion i suffer from depression so i turn to religion hoping that god and jesus would help me, ended up suffering with paranoia & anxiety, not much help considering i prayed my ass of for 3 whole years, i had to go to therapy, i no longer suffer any more but i actually use to see demons chase me around my house, entities that look like ghostly blurs in which i tried to cast out in jesus name, it didn't work, the only thing that got rid of them was to not believe in them.
@messiiironaldo Religion does make a person paranoid and overly anxious. You give power to the lie (demons) by not believing in them. From my experience, once I became an apostate, the sense of fear when it came to demons and Satan vanished; the idea that I might get overtaken by a ghoul no longer haunts my mind. As far as the depression-you have the choice of being happy or dismal. You have power and control over the way you feel. Think positive and you will get positivity.
@RebelAllianceMedia i was told my depression was from a chemical imbalance in the brain, but even through depression, if its a result of illness or losing a loved one its hard to think positive, some people turn to drugs to release endorphins which levels the imbalance, personally music therapy worked for me. overall point, my religious mindset made me hallucinate things that were not there, my therapist was also treating victims of religious brainwashing with cognitive therapy.
@messiiironaldo I do agree that it is a timely thing to think positive when losing a love one. It's not an over-night process; it comes with learning and experience. All I can say this-do/think things that make you feel better or make you happy. For some, it's music; others-excercise; tv, video games, youtube, etc. Find an outlet that will put a smile on your face.
@RebelAllianceMedia & i was also in contact with one of the GMS guys here in the UK, in which he himself was on medication for mental health problems, he still part of GMS, in which i almost joined, but it goes to show you the people that follow these hebrew israelite groups do suffer from mental problems, but by turning to this religion they are making it so much worse but don't realize as they are delusional, they dont think for themselves, they have to think according gods thoughts Isaiah 55:8.

Religion causes brain damage. The AA community is the most religious community in America. Religion makes people easier to oppress, and less likely to use their reason to change their situation.
@SamWiseGingy "Religion makes people easier to oppress . . . "-this is one of the main reasons why it was so easy to keep Blacks oppressed during slavery and the Civil Rights movement-religion kept them docile and complacent; they were pacified. ". . . use their reason to change their situation"-true indeed.
