  • The old V8!!!^^

  • Sweet

  • Two words: FUCK YEAH

    Thats my dream car.

  • what a beautiful car yous americans have some lovely muscle cars

  • its just too beautiful.... i jus cant w8 to get my own 70 charger... i think im in love....

  • respect man...

  • Great looking car and it sounds great as well. You can't beat the thunder produced by American muscle cars. Thanks. Cheers..

    Wayne..

  • God of thunder

  • i have a simular set up, what jet size are you running.

  • very very nice mopar. my dad had a superstock b class 69 amx that he drove back in the seventies, and hopefully i can get the money put another one together for him and get it running around 10.80's like his did. i see what you mean about cars bringing people together in a personal way. i bet the people behind the first production cars never thought they could be such an important part of people's lives

  • 12:1 sounds like good odds to me!

  • the best song of my dream car!!! thumb up!!

  • Just never wanted the video to stop. That's heaven to my ears. My father, who is now passed away owned a 69' Orange Road Runner that he paid around $3,500 new for off the show room floor. He said his monthly car payment was $63 a month. He blew the rear end out 3 times and they said no more at the dealership. Sadly, at 42, I am disabled and will never be able to own the Hemi I've always dreamed of. My dream car is a 70 Superbee, Plum Crazy 4 speed pistol grip 426 Hemi. Beautiful beautiful car

  • @rthefley Thanks for sharing this wonderful story about your Dad and his Road Runner. The best thing about owning a car like this is it has a way of connecting people beyond car stories and bench racing...it connects people in a more personal level.

I hope and pray you'll someday achieve your dream of getting that Plum Crazy Hemi Bee,,,,never say never my friend!! A;; the best and thanks again for the kind words...it's people like you that make it all worthwhile

  • best license plate ever! :D

  • WOW, Now that is nice, such a beautiful work of American muscle. All I can do is dream about these beauties, maybe when I hit the Powerball I can enjoy one of these. Thanks for the vid. bro, you have a beautiful Charger, which is one of my favorite Mopars.

  • damn a mopar shit i really want 2 get a charger

  • Thanks guys, yeah I get a lot of props on the plate too!! Thanks again!!!

  • WOW nice car man..i envy u

    thats my dream car haha

  • LMFAO! U wont win! fucking WIN on the tag, Sir! Sick ride!

  • why do some 1970 chargers have different tail lights?

  • Sounds and looks like a beast.I love Mopars!!

  • i want that baby!

  • looks so powerful..... and just soo sexy....the car of course...

  • Thanks!!!

  • Wow, i really love your car !!!

  • love the plate

  • I would make some bad jobs for a car like this!!!! =)

Super Car!!! I know i will never own a car like this but when i see this i just smile

  • Excellent!!

  • dragester car amazing

  • Gorgeous car . I used to own a 70 RT 440 six pack car . She was nice same colors too . But she was all stock. My 71 Duster on the other hand was a blown 340 and a monster. MOPAR lover 4 ever !

  • nice

  • love the way it sounds

  • bad ass!!!!...nice!!

  • UWONTWIN, haha

  • Good looking color and the engine detail looks great

  • mopar or no car!!!!!!!!

  • YES A CARB!THANK YOU GOD.

  • lol nice sound, nice plates, nice car.

    love it mate, good work!

  • awesome mopar bud, sounds awesome. love the plate haha, too bad nobody gets close enough to read the warning :)

  • 20 initial and limited to 14 centrifugal works best in this motor.

  • wizerulz- Nice car! You obviously got it tuned damn good. What's your total timing set at? And what's the initial timing set at?

  • I love chrysler big blocks and their torque. Every time you rev it up, it trys to flip the car over!

  • Mopar or no car!

  • Thank you, my friend!!

  • gratula!!!

  • Too bad Dodge can't make the new chargers look this awesome.

  • If i were to pick any paint scheme for a charger i would pick this one!!! Nice ride man!!!

  • sweet license plate cover

  • Thanks, guys!!

  • that motor is a beast. 1000 rpm to 6000 rpm in 1/2 a second

  • hfackk that things got fast throtle response

  • licenceplate UWONTWIN;)

  • Thanks! I've had the car for 30 years so there's no way to guess what I have in it but I can't see myself ever selling it so I guess it doesn't matter ;-). Gas mileage? Maybe 10 on the highway :-0 But the fun per mile is WAY UP THERE!!

  • @wizerulz don't sell it you got a goldmine there

  • @wizerulz Yeah, the smiles per gallon is what really matters =D

    Awesome car btw

  • how much this car cost you? and howmuch gas it drinks ? thx

  • shes purty

  • A beast, I wish you lived next door to me.

  • I love that engine soo much, the throttle responce, the thorque.... my 4-spd screams to get an engine like that! CB

  • JjAJajajajajajaja you won't win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sweet car man, let me drive it for 1 block pleeeeeeease

  • Brings tears to my eyes everytime :-),,,,just awewsome!!!

  • I wrecked my GTX in 71 I am so jeellyy ous.

  • im a bit jealous

great car great sound = oure awesomeness

  • New cars sux i always like old cars mustang charger challenger

  • Thanks! The motor was designed for a drag car to make just over 750hp but when I decided to use it fir the street I went with a milder street roller cam and a dual plane max wedge intake, so that cost it about 40 or so peak hp and maybe 4-500 rpm. The torque is still awesome, over 650 lb/ft.... Not too bad for all motor and excellent drive-anywhere steet manners. I was going to spray it with a 200 shot of N2O but I decided it's really quick enough as it is! Thanks again!

  • SEXY WHATS THE NUMBERS HP/TQ?

  • omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg seriously when i hear the roar from the charger it makes me jizz it is such a beautiful sound

  • Thanks, buddy! Glad you like it !!

  • I'm gonna think that I'm gonna buy one :D

end that is a great car you have:D

  • Thanks! Yeah it's a lot of fun having a 517 inch motor that wants to wind quick like a sport bike!

Balancing and light weight race components and good flowing heads make a Big difference in how a motor revs and pulls!

  • DAMM that must be a balanced engine for sure baby revs quick!!! nothin better in this world than a mopar!

  • nice

  • 2 thumbs up !!

  • Sounds awesome, car looks good, get rid of those valve covers.Thinking hard about putting a stroker in my 70 RT.Love it.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

i love the charger...i love youre car...i love the sound xD

I TOTAL LOVE EVERYTHING ON IT :D

  • @xXCREEKSTARXx Thanks for the props, bro!! Very Much Appreciated!!!

  • I heard that :-),I completely agree, thats the whole point of a mopar.

  • Oh man!! That is my favorite year Charger and my favorite color. I would like a black vinyl top on mine though. That motor is truely awsome. THAT RUMBLE MAKES ME STUMBLE---- RIGHT ON BRO!!!

  • MOPAR OR NOCAR!!!

  • THOSE WHEELS RUIN THAT CAR DUDE

  • @ffmak124x

Well i guess "opinions vary" ;-)

Weld wheel Ultralights weigh about 8 pounds a piece and are "Old School" Mopar. I've thought about looking at something else to change it up but Seriously these days who doesn't have better things to do with their Hard Earned cash?

  • Nothing wrong with these rims. Putting new ones on, like the one you put on a import tuner, that would ruin the car. In fact, there should be a law against shit like that.

  • Those wheels are awsome!! Time to quit drinkin' dude.

  • now thats the sound i like

  • Low deck strokers are the hot ticket for Mopar engines...Just listen to the snap of this engine compared to a 440 with tons of piston weight. Something like 6-7 pounds in rotating mass to be saved by going with a 383/400 in the first place!

    No subframe connectors, btw?

  • @UFO29 Oh yeah, with this kind of torque subframe connectors were a must!! They're under there for sure!!

I agree on the crank mass comment, not to mention that really strong cylinder heads and the right cam help the response too!

Wildpoly318....I hate a big Lumbering slow revving motor...it's gotta feel like a 'Stallion Kickin' the stall' up under there for sure!!

  • @UFO29 The low deck has 400 block has a bigger bore than the 440 does...so your piston weight theory is wrong. The rods in the 440 the heavier because of their length but give a better rod stroke ratio and less side load on the cylinder walls although the shorter rod is better on the street because it makes a bad cam slection seem not so bad due to the piston speed coming off TDC...where the long rod comes off TDC slower.

  • @DebraMuffinHead True, the bore is bigger (slightly 4.342" vs 4.32") in the 400 but when you do a stroker the piston typically winds up being shorter & ligher. In a typical 511" the low deck typically winds up ~150-200 g lighter than the Tall deck. Side loading is reduced in the tall (10.72") deck due to the longer rod (if built for the maximum allowable length) but the low deck (9.98") has a few advantages (thicker main webs & the the 3/4" shorter bores are stronger) that offset that. (more)

  • @wizerulzPiston speed alone is really a seperate issue (regardless of rod length the piston travels up and down the same distance when the stroke is the same) but piston 'dwell' at TDC and BDC IS effected by both rod length and stroke, the trick is to optimize your combo for the head flow, compression and cam lift and duration, that's really a huge part of the "Magic" of getting the most bang for your buck ;-)

  • Ive commented before, but man I just cant get over how crisp that throttle response is,great job love the your car!!!

  • My absolute dream is a 1970 dodge Charger a 440 that is... but now i've heard this 517... i almost wet my pants... what's the bhp? and torque?

  • Thanks!

This motor was originally intended to go in a Drag car, the deal on that car fell through so I de-tuned the cam a bit to make it streetable in the charger (which had a 600hp 508 already) and now it makes right at 700 lb/ft and 700hp....It revs to 7200 but I shift it at 6800.

I've been resisting temptaion ot put a 250 N20 shot on it...maybe I'm getting old 'cause it seems plenty quick enough as it is, especially for the street!

    Thanks again!!

  • well you could here just from the sound that the hp was huge... but you're right with those results, it is goddamn streetable... are you planning to do some drags with it? and no prob.

P.S. about the N20... it is quick enough so i doubt you'll need it...

  • Thanks,

if I ever do drag race it again I'll have to run it without Slicks...that will hurt it's ET but I can't risk hurting the body with that much power if it really hooks up. Mopars tend to buckle the 1/4 panel/roof seam weld if they don't have a reinforcing roll cage and this car being an original R/T tat doesn't make a lot of sense to do.....I built my Rocky as a drag car but I can't rule out taking the Charger to the track for a couple ease-out-of-the-hole type passes.

  • well,that's somethin' i didn't know yet..

but yeah then it's best you don't dragrace with it... anyway... it's one of the best lookin' charger's i've ever seen... goodluck with it,and if you ever would drag with it on street tires... post it on youtube! greetzzz..

  • very very nice. 12 to 1 comp on pump gas, 93 octane? how? Lots of cam o-lap?

  • It's a combination of things, proper quench, combustion chamber mods and custom 'D' dish piston, rod length and of course the cam timing and especially the intake closing event. Of course you need excellent cooling and optimized jetting and ignition curve to make it all work as well. This motor is the result of all the tricks I've learned over about 30 years of playing with Mopars. THANKS!!

  • Ahh ha, that makes sense. Over your 30 years of playing with them have you ever tried an HEI distributor in a bigblock? I have one in my 440 and I havnt seen many other people running it. I love the thing, check it out in my "Crazy Burnouts" video. Thanks

  • Never ran the GM HEI Dizzy but I HAVE adapted the GM 4 pin HEI ignition module as an alternative to the Mopar ECU BOX...the GM unit works great and is a dead simple conversion on any mopar....2 pin to the coil and 2 to the Dizzy reluctor and you're all-set. The ACCEL GM HEI is only about $38 bucks and it's small and easy to mount anywhere in the engine compartment.

  • Nice to know. You don't have to answer this, but I didn't know that you can buy new engins (reconditioned?). Anyway, forget your neighbours. I'm convinced that some of them also like the sound of a real V8.

  • Hey There! I actually specialize in building High Performance Dodge 340/440 and especially 500+ cubic inch Stroker engines (like this one), but I'll build just about any engine a customer wants to have in his car. Thanks!

  • Awesome!

Is this the car from Bullit?

    Mustang and ?

  • Yes, Bullitt was a mustang and a Charger...68-70 are essentially the same body, The one in the Bullitt movie is a '68 model (round taillights) and different bumper/grille. The 69 was used in the Dukes of Hazzard and the 70 was used in "Fast & Furious'

  • and in each film/program they destroyed multiple chargers :( what a waste of such beautiful machines.

  • The F&F car was actually both, they stuck the front of a 70 on the back of a 69 :)

  • Very nice car but 68 is nicer.

  • Well I've had all three (68-69-70) snd all I can say is "opinions vary".....there's things I like best about all of them, for the 70 it's the R/T door scoop, the "real" bucket seats and the Pistol Grip.

  • lol,... "geil" driectly translated means "horny",... in this case it´ll say something like "wow","awesome","holy shit", and so on,... greetings from germany

  • Thanks! I've been to Germany twice and I loved every minute I was there, I would love to play with the Charger on the Autobahn someday!!

  • very geil!

  • Thanks...At least I think thanks!!....what does "geil" mean?? It's a GOOD thing, right? :-)

  • Christ is this nice!

  • Ok, so when did you say you gonna build me a copy of this awesome motor? :)Anyway then I need new pants evertime I would take my 4spd Charger out!

  • I'd love to build you one!

  • Great sounding motor... so smooth. My buddy just bought a 1972 Charger. He found it in Texas and had it shipped up here to Newfoundland. Its has Dark Green Metallic-GF7 paint with a white vinyl top. I was surprised how stuff there is on ebay for it.

  • I'm a big fan of the 71-72's too!

  • Doesnt sounds manly enough... it sounds like a hybrid of a ferrari engine and a v8

  • Well as for "manly sounding"....., all I can say is "Opinions Vary !!"

I'd just ask you to consider what it takes to get a 517" (8.5 Litre) American V8 to rev with anything close to Ferrari quickness. I would take that comparison as a compliment! Never heard a ferrari that rattles the windows and shakes the gound at idle like this one though.... :-)

I also have a 427 Shelby Cobra and most people that know both cars would tell you the Charger is a bit more "Intimidating"....and FAST!!

  • you also have a 427 Shelby cobra...... well.... i.... yeah i hate you now lol

  • is the car for sale ?

  • No it's not, but thank you for asking! :-)

I've had her for 28 years....10 years longer than I've had my wife!! :-O

  • very nice i luv the plate

  • if u were my neighbor ide pay you a monthly fee to rev ur engine in the mornings so i can wake up with a big ass smile!

  • indeed haha xD

  • I really do appreciate all the great comments guys!! Nice to know there's still some old school muscle fans out there!!

To me a vintage muscle car ought to Sound the part....but it's gotta be REAL power....Mufflers alone can make a nice rumble.....but only Horsepower and Torque can make it shake the ground and THUMP, and most importantly, make it MOVE.

  • @elsollao

    so would i

  • very nice charger I have a 68 we are just in the middle of putting a 572 hemi in it.

  • if i had that car and you had a feather up your ass wed both be tickled

  • beautiful

  • AWESOME TORQUE MONSTER!!!

  • If I were your neighbor I'd love you more if you GAVE me your charger

Beautiful Charger take care of her

  • if you were my neighbor i'd love you

  • In the end I'll go with the best practical solution for what i want to achieve, both the B and RB are excellent Hi performance foundations. Thanks a lot for the props, I'm glad so many people like these cars the way I do and the way I put the motors together, it's a lot of fun!

  • Very interesting. What kind of pump gas, exactly? Not 87 octane from el Cheapo Gas, I assume.

  • No I only wish I could run 87 but I have to run 93, BP/Amoco seems to run the best of the pump gases but shell also seems to do pretty well. again keeping the coolant temps down below 180 degrees with a very good radiator helps a lot.

  • Holy cats, what a sound.

Geometry says you get more torque with an RB block, but I see a lot of stroker Bs. Is this because there are so many more B blocks around than RBs, or do you actually prefer a B to an RB?

  • That's been debated for quite a while, at 9.98" a Low deck "B" block is still taller than standard BB Chevy, lower deck means less mass so a lighter rotating assembly. Also the 400 B block most definately has a thicker main web than an RB 440 block too.

  • Add the bigger bore and a smaller main and BBC size rod journal adds up to still adequate strength and higher rev potential....one the trade-off is a lower rod ratio for a given stroke above 3.75" which can have a detrimental effect of side loading and eventually ring seal.

  • In the end for this project the Low deck just fits in there better and lowers the overall weight on the nose of the car, with all the Aluminum (heads, intake, water pump and radiator) combined with the lighter bobweight and the low deck block itself, the motor is about 100 pounds lighter than the Factory Iron head 440, so here's 517 cubes that weighs-in not much more than a factory 340 smallblock.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :))))))))

  • wow love the color !!! awesome ride !!

  • nice but you are use ing an ever start battery from walmart why not an optima battery or something better

  • Ha ha, yeah I do have an Optima in it now, it starts pretty easy though using a late model high-torque starter.

  • well thats good to hear cuz any thing that a person has is is only as strong as their weakest link and everstarts are good but not as good as an optima. so what else have you upgraded on it

  • man thats a sweeeeet sounding machine, I'm planning on stroking my 383 to either a 438,or a 496, which do you recommend for a daily driven automatic,B-body set up?, my brother use to have a 70 500 as well but not even close to being such a tough ride like this one, very very nice!!!!

  • Thanks for the props, buddy!!

Both are good motors, but I like BIG CUBES, especially in a B or E body...so I guess the 496 would get my vote. Think of it this way, it's like a 438 with a whole extra Cylinder 's worth of cubes!!

  • woah id rather give my left nut than working 5 years or something to afford one like this seriously, but that aint going to happen so im gonna have to work for it and itll be worth it. sweet charger it sounds ready to tear up the streets.

i drive a 1969 impala myself i purchased it when i was 18 two years ago so im all about musclecars.

greetings from a motorhead in sweden

  • Thank you!

I have many Mopar customers in Sweeden and all over Europe, It's always great to hear from those of you "accross the pond" who are into Classic American Iron!!

  • what a nice car! its rare to see one here in the states!

  • :O bad ass!

    Cam specs?

How bout what kinda mufflers your runnin haha.

Wooo hopefully I can replicate that sound in my little project ^_^

  • 3" dynomax Hemi Turbos through a 3 1/2" Dr Gas X pipe and 3" TTI Tailpipes.

The cam is a custom roller I spec'ed to match the head flow and 12:1 compression. This was filmed not long after the motor was built (only the second start)...it's broken in nicely and she's loosened up a bit so today it's even more responsive!

  • Do you think the position of the inlinets/outlets of the mufflers make a big difference?

  • Depends how far back they are from the exhaust valve, gases expand, slow and cool as they move down the pipe, I wouldn't run a reverse flow muffs right off of a Header but several feet down the pipe (assuming the size volume is correct for the power of the motor) it's generally not an issue.

  • 12 to 1 ? .....for the street ....with all those cubes ..race gas only or what?

  • 12:1 is very doable on pump gas with a carefully designed combination of Quench area, piston shape, cooling system capacity and flow, Ignition curve and particularly cam timing. There can be quite a bit of tuning leeway between your Static (mechanical) compression ratio and your dynamic compression. for the past several years I've built all my street motors to run between 11 and 12:1 to run on pump gas.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • THIS CAR is my dream! This motor is one of the best i' ever heard running! Compliments! You must be proud of it! Greetings from Italy!

  • Grazie!! Grazie, my friend!!

  • Beautyfull car.

  • Thanks dude, glad you like it!!

  • The license plate pretty much say's it all!!

I know a lot of you are going to replay it now to see what it say's. lmao

Nice to see Mopar muscle at it's finest nice ride!!

  • god dman that thing shakes the earth

  • ah...ah damn.....my keyboard is all sticky.....

  • love the back end on these cars, there so fkin mean

  • Absolutely AWESOME!

And I thought my modded 440 sounded good. lol

  • i would love that even if my neighbor had one. i would get up early just to hear him go to work

  • Now THAT's a COMPLIMENT!!!!

    Thanks!!

  • hell that's so real! thought of that! that baby looks amazing! and the engine is just a beauty!

  • Sweet! Wish they made the same intake for my low deck 500 EFI E-85 MegaSquirt stroker I'm currently building! I'm gonna use a 383 Victor. Fast revs! Nice engineering. MoPar rules! Eddie

  • that picks up revs like a small block

  • My thoughts exactly.

  • I'd love to have an engine like that in my 69 ;)

    CB

  • mmm yes it runs like freshly rebuilt engine by the sounds of it...

  • Mopar is the best!

  • If i ever get a charger, ill pay u to build an engine like that for me lol. Keep up the good work, that charger kicks some major ass

  • Thanks! I specialize in building Big Mopar Stroker motors...check my othe vid where I go into more detail on this 'little thumper'

  • That sounds like candy to my ears man! Very Very sweet! Awesome! Did you do the engine work yourself? Check out my Power Wagon with my tweaked BB 400.
