  • It means 400 Riders.

  • well the r143 is not alone now

  • are the R160 the top of the line cars & it derails

  • Derailments are most often caused by the rails themselves, not on-board equipment, as advanced as the R160 is. In fact, the on-board computers probably immediately identified the fault and stopped the train before there was further damage to the train, the tunnel infrastructure, and passengers. It looked like the train had just cleared a junction, so chances are a switch failed or switched before the train had completely cleared the junction.

  • I see

  • immediately following this derailment, I believe that whole section of track, and the surrounding areas of it, was replaced...

  • Do you know where the track section was, because I was thinking it was south of Columbus Circle station, even though only the A had R160's on that line for a while, but not now. But, it looks like it was near Columbus Circle station since that is the only type of diverge I know of in Manhattan.

  • the control center might not have been certified for r160 at that station.

  • Which station do you think it was?

  • i cant watch it wont load -.-

  • What's the location of the track split at the beginning?

  • wow. the R160 crashes. whats more amazing is that it was the NYC subway.

  • It's a wonder that all the aging underground rail infastructure on the NYC subway system is holding up as well as it has.
