By the way, this is the "Regimentsgruß", a pretty common German march. The melody was also used for the song of the Fallschirmjäger (paratroopers), where I served. I love this tune. :-)

I've got two cousins in Afghanistan, one in the Rifles (as in the British army) the other in the Bundeswehr (as in the German army) both get shot at, both see little kids getting blown up by IEDs meant for their convoys, both do search and clears of mortar positions hidden in mud hamlets, both risk their lives.

German soldiers have bled and died in Afghanistan just as Danish, Canadian, Estonian, Dutch, French, American and British soldiers have. For as long as they are asked they will do so.
