Great sound but why only two tubas? Saxophones and clarinets make it too light at the top. Why the drab grey coats? Don't tell me the poms feel the cold.
This is not the Grenadiers! This is my regiment the QRL (QUEENS ROYAL LANCERS)! They have done me proud again. Our motto is Death or Glory and hence that is the tune being played.
Robert Browne Hall (30 June 1858 8 June 1907)... He is particularly popular in the United Kingdom, so much so that many lovers of brass band music there mistakenly imagine that "R.B. Hall" is an English composer. His celebrated march "Death or Glory", written in 1895 and dedicated to the Tenth Regiment Band in Albany, New York, is a well-known staple of brass band concerts and competitions all over the UK.
are UK militants taughtt to swing their arm own breast-pocket height or what cause some of those guys in the squads behind the band where going as high as their own heads
My 9th grade highschool band in florida is playing this for and my music says Tenth Regiment march.. so i dont no where Death or Glory fits into there!! ...
Thank you all for your posts. Judging by the replies, I think its safe to say that the official title is Tenth Regiment march, and it's alter ego if you will, Death and Glory.
The March was named 'Death or Glory' by R.B. Hall its composer. It was dedicated to the US Tenth Regiment which is why it has become known as 'Tenth Regiment' in the USA.
The march is called 'Death or Glory' and is a good choice because the troops going on guard are from the 'Queens Royal Lancers' whose nickname is the 'Death or Glory Boys' because of the regimental motto, 'Death or Glory'. They are one of only two regiments to have the motto on the cap badge.
The band are wearing the bearskins, the follwing troops are not. This is beacuse the only units allowed to wear regimental bearskins are those of the Guards Regiments, namely in rank order - the Granadiers, the Coldstreams, the Scots, the Irish, the Welsh. Each of these 5 has its own band, who along the 2 divisons of the Household Cavalry - The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals perform the vast majority of the band duties for Changing of the Guards

Our guards bands are fantastic "second to none" but standards have slipped a bit.we will soon see the introduction of wide grinning picaninnes wanting to play the trumpet thats when its all over

@saferfood ..I think the point was "this is the Grenadier Guards Band playing". It is of course the QRL forming the new Guard.
