I absolutely loved this movie as a child and still have a strong affection for it today. In fact, this scene of Chitty flying over the castle gives me goose bumps because I remember seeing this film every year around the holidays! Dick Van Dyke was great in this film too!

I'm on holiday in germany right now and I went to the castle earlier today and well I didn't feel the ghost of the child catchers hook but I think it may of breathed down my neck though. Because noone was behind me and the breath was ice cold.

:) Truly!! :) I just learned recently that the castle, Neuschwanstein, built by Mad King Ludwig and used as the model for Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland, was where the Nazi stored billions of dollars worth of artwork plundered from Europe before and during World War II

Speaking of Nazis, Baron Bomburst was played by Gert Fröbe who was a Nazi himself.  However, he was a hero as he hid Jews during WW II to keep them from being sent to concentration camps. A Nazi hero, two words you don't often see together!

These are great aerial shots. I thought this was the greatest movie when I was a kid. Its fun to revisit and acquire some understanding of what made it magical. The music is quite catchy too.

I Have Chitty Chitty Bang Bang On VHS. When I Watched The MGM Opening Logos, It Looks Like The VHS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Was Released In 1990.
