Saw them open up for Tom Petty at the end of the Damn the Torpedoes tour (summer 1980) they were AMAZING !! Saw Tommy Heath at a small gig in Chattanooga years later he said .." I never opened for Tom Petty..." must have been an awesome summer !
My favorite Tommy Tutone song! Thanks for posting this incredible video. These guys are very underrated. Loved them when they first came out and still love them to this day. I still play their record on a regular basis.
@HengistTheGreat Good call- I would not be suprised in the least if they ever admitted it. The middle part has that Andy Summers/Police guitar sound as well. New wave era, for sure.
@hk459 Just google Tommy Tutone and you`ll find his website and the track is there to download when you click songs and then click the first album pic. -daz in oz
It also pains me that they are a "One Hit Wonder" because their best music wasn't played on mainstream radio back in the day! The songs still linger in our collective memories and music collections, however!!!
I liked 867-5309, but not nearly as good as the other Tommy Tutone songs, this was my favorite. Unfortunately 867-5309 Jenny destroyed Tommy Tutone, like Gilligan's Island destroyed those actors. :-)
I have loved this song since it came out, my brother bought the lp so I never had to, but now it's gone... It's funny how nobody remembers this one, it's so much better than 867-5309...
He did an acoustic solo version I saw on VH1 sometime ago....somebody please post that version, it rocked! so does this one! thanks for posting it!
This song played as a single briefly on my local rock station in Wyoming, and I never forgot. When the 22-track CD with both of the first two albums came out, I was one of the first to buy it and rave about it.

Loved this album, always thought this song should've been as big a hit as "Jenny"...Graham Parker, Elvis, Joe Jackson, etc...we were so spoiled!

There other songs are not bad. I love when people say they are one hit. I go how many hits you have zero (0) ? lol.

I think this remarkable band was ruined by one monster hit, the first album was awesome.

Good call sir. We had this album at the radio station and I'd always play this song. It was my fav although "Angel Say No" was a close second.
Awesome vid- thank you StRose!
