  • 2:38 "Maybe he went down on her that night" ... WTF?!?! LMAO.

  • "maybe he wen't down on her that night"

  • Haha Jonathan Ross loves magic! :D

  • This video actually is kinda sexist towards women. DB knows they are so limited that she could only choose one card :P

  • There is a reason why DB didn't ask the guy to choose a card, because it would be much harder to predict. If she said any other card this video wouldn't exist and we wouldn't be discussing this trick, it had to be the 7 of hearts.

Let me just add that I tried to get my gf to choose the 7h. I tried to phrase everything just as DB did, and sure enough she chose it. When I showed her the paper with my prediction she was pretty confused. When you eliminate the queen and the 3, 7 is all that's left

  • No people - notice what he shows you and what he doesn't. It is an improvement of the rough smooth principle. A duplicate 7h is already face down in both decks- notice cards are already spread. Any card they actually pick and turn upside down is specially made to adhere to the card on top of it- thereby making it invisible in the deck. When the cards are spread the original 7h is shown. You all owe JohnnyBrutal 5 bucks.

  • Red Hair (her favorite color) / Hearts (a female choice) / 7 (typical lucky number and not 3). That, and some accentuation in his voice (e.g. red or Blaaccckk [negative sounding pronounciation]) Etc. Clever guy!

  • @dimacodreanu lol, you should check your common sense. Darren did NOT persuade to choose the 7 of Hearts. That is your assumption. It does not mean that it would take 2500 attempts, EVERY ONE OF THOSE ATTEMPTS is 1 in 2500. And it is called creating a "coincidence", not a magic trick. The whole idea is that, millions of people dreaming, one of those dreams might resemble what will happen tomorrow. Same case here with the deck of cards. Again, get familiar with Derren brown and you'll understand.

  • Now let's turn the strawberry gal over and ass-fuck her.

  • When you ask someone to pick a number between 1 and 10, 7 is the most frequently picked. 3 is probably picked a lot too, thats why he said dont pick 3.

She picked hearts because she's a woman and feminine. Shes also in a typical romantic setting, and sitting across from her lover. Pay attention to his phrasing too, "Diamonds or Hearts, WHICH DO YOU PREFER?" Her hair is dyed red so she obviously likes the color, which is probably why he asked that first

    What now bitches?

  • @StealthParadox "red, which is eh, diamonds and hearts, any preferred suit out of those two?" was his exact wording... what about his way of phrasing? and also, how does 7 being the most frequently picked apart from 3 help when they weren't looking when they picked the card to flip over?

  • I really hate to say it but Darren's accent make it easier for him to use conversational hypnosis :(

  • Darren didn't do it, he primed there minds to create it.

  • and that night, he went down on her.....

  • This video can be found on derrenbrown.co.uk/blog/2010/06/video-coincidence youtube.com/watch?v=98OTsYfTt-c , this explains how the poor understand of probabilities on the part of a lot of people help create this sense of magic when coincidences occur.

  • @Rudy4President Are you blind or are we watching different videos, because when it scans the cards at 1:01 it's clear they are all correct.

  • @symphonia321 How hard would it be to hide an extra seven of hearts in the deck?

I didn't see Daren tell the couple to flip a card in the deck. I am pretty sure he only said there was now one turned around.

  • @Rudy4President creating a "coincidence" wouldn't mean anything if Derren performed a magic trick, then it would mean creating a "magic" trick. If you think it is TV magic, then you are mistakenly wrong, your absurdness of 7hearts was preflipped @ 1:12 wouldn't be necessary because during a scene cut, they could just flip the card. so your assumption is plain dumb. Derren does this in another show (The System) and he explains it at the end:

    watch?v=uQrOrBZdJig

  • @Rudy4President you really don't understand the type of magic that Derren likes to perform. If the 7 of hearts was pre-flipped @ 1:12 and the couple flipped another card, then in the beginning you should have seen the 7 of hearts flipped when the cards were fanned out, and at the end there should have been 2 flipped cards which there weren't so your logic doesn't make sense at all. @ 1:12 what you can see is a corner of the back of the card.

  • people trying to make explain how the trick is done are just fooling themselves & anyone that pays attention to them. The magic that Derren performs in the video wouldn't be seen in the video, is actual REAL magic. The people did actually choose the 7 of hearts & they did actually flip the 7 of hearts themselves. Derren however, did give them a restriction of what cards to pick. The magic is based on probability, this couple(out of many) just happened to hit the coincidence and create magic.

  • @0xirix False. The seven of hearts was already flipped in both cases. If you can't clearly see that with your eyes by looking at the seven of hearts pre-flipped, then there's really no way to convince you otherwise. The truth is there is no magic, and the closest thing to coincidence was Derren doing his best to ensure the selection of the seven of hearts (not a difficult thing to do).

  • @0xirix You should check your math. Even if Darren persuaded every such couple to choose the 7 of hearts, it would still make it one in 2500 chance for the couple to flip those cards. Darren implanting the idea of choosing the 7 of hearts does not improve the probability. So, unless you really think Darren tried this with 2500 couples, this is not the way it was done. The card was flipped, dude!

  • Wow. You really can see the seven of hearts at 1:12. I'm seriously bummed out that Derren isn't what I thought he was. What an asshole.

  • @kybarx3 Derren is not about doing magic. The video is called "how to create a coincidence". He's convincing these people that he's done the magic. Derren Brown potently believes there is no such thing, and this is just him showing us that even the most "meaningful" of coincidences can have a rational explanation.

  • @kybarx3 What did you expect him to be? A wizard? He is an 'illusionist' and is quite up-front about the deception used in all his tricks. And they are tricks. The problem with finding out how the tricks work is that the 'magic' is removed. As a psychologist I am fascinated by how the magician can by-pass our 'common sense', exploit our cognitive deficiencies, and make a cheap trick look like 'magic'. Most of that is performance and Derren does that extremely well.

  • Cool. I google the course in the comments and see "fraud/scam" everywhere. Don't use the venerable Derren Brown to prop up something that is clearly inferior. Good clip of him though.

  • either nothing is a coincidence or everything is.

  • Pause at 1:02. You can see that the seven of hearts is NOT already turned over.

  • @overman926 TV magic my friend. No cards were flipped under the table.

  • I want that redhead!!!

    fap fap fap

  • holy shit...that first story he told actually did happen to me...i was with a girl in greece, we were talking and she said she never saw a shooting star, i said look up and we'l see one (i know, corny, but i wanted to bump uglies with her), and when we looked up we saw one...didn't bump uglies but i did go down on her..Coincidence?????

  • @muthafookerable "bump uglies"? really?.... thats probably THEE WORST slang term ive ever heard for anything in my life ever.

  • @Murder0redruM pretty sure he got that from American Dad, its a animated show

  • @Murder0redruM really??? how about...feltching? alabama hot pocket? or perhaps...roiding the gee of your one!!!??? they worse then that princess?

  • Also he mentioned 1-10 before she chose and not to choose 3 (7-10=3) and 3, 5, and 7 show up a lot in mythology. So much so that nintendo uses 3's and 7's to coreograph their boss battles. Usually 3 as in mario when he has to stomp bowser 3 times and zelda usually has to hit the boss 3 or 7 times along with many other titles. By mentioning 3 and 10 he puts it in her head to choose 7 and she probably likes the color red since her hair is dyed red. not sure how he made them choose the cards thogh

  • @Nastybeanlady Nice theory, but magicians don't use probables. They are certain.

  • For those who don't know, it's Jonathan Ross and his wife. If he'd done this with 2704 couples it would be a damn fine coincidence that it happened to work for one of Britain's most famous TV figures! :D

  • 72 / 7 isn't 18... :S

  • If I would do this, I would have had all cards in the decks having faces on both sides, except the seven of hearts.

Then it is just a matter of making the lady say seven of hearts, which should be easy really.. :)

  • @edocsil222 implying it's not all staged.. fucking idiots.

  • they should have filmed under the table as well, too see how the fuck that happened.

  • I don't know how it's done, but I'm just guessing it's a trick deck, like maybe the seven of hearts is the only card that has a back, and all the others are two-sided?

  • @ShawnRavenfire No, when the guy goes to put the deck under table and when he brings it out it's obvious the deck (wrong card included on bottom) has a back.

  • beautiful

  • Punching above your weight Jonno.

  • That chick is hot.

  • how it is done: there's a midget under the table switching the cards :)

  • I would totally put that dude under hypnosis and eat his wifes ass out right in front of him! lol

  • @TonyInTopeka If you would eat her ass out as a first option, sounds a bit gay.

  • @edocsil222

You have 36 thumbs up and i just nutted 36 times... Coincidence.

  • ok i see how obligated her to chose the seven, thats no hard, by the shuffle thing was kind of strange or maybe they are actors....

  • Someone is under the table switching the decks. Cheers

    D.B.

  • @mosdreable thats absurd

bedides, if was going to be fake, why not just have the couple do it themselves?

  • My limited magic knowledge diagnosis is: It was a gaffed deck fo'sure.

  • @Zalo10 perhaps. my vote goes for smart redirection and phenomenally quick hands.

  • @edocsil222 That can't be it since it seems like Derren asks them to choose a card right at the start before asking them about how long they knew each other.

  • Ooohh....isn't that the guy who hosts Penn & Teller's 'fool us' :D?

  • Magician's deck

  • @edocsil222 (And the love)

  • @edocsil222 He already implanted the seven.

  • You guys are good.

It was pretty ovious she was gonna pick hearts. When she couldn't pick 3, and with derren mentioning the actual number, most people will link to 7 for several reasons. The heart of seven is indeed in the deck, but there is also a preturned card (probably lied aligned upside down, beneath another card), as some dude spotted @1:12

However, what happened to the card they flipped themselves, I have no idea. Please, someone get back to me if you have any theories.

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz

There are card decks where every card will show as a certain number when it faces one direction. All Derren would have to do in that case is ensure that they chose the correct card and, being the master of implanting ideas that he is, I'm sure that was not very difficult.

If we had been given a chance to see the rest of the cards afterwards we probably would've seen another seven of hearts.

  • @scottydamion That's somewhat what I thought... but what if they'd spread out the card deck a bit more and it would've been revealed... he ran one hell of a risk there...

  • Did he say " Maybe he went down on her that night" 2:37

  • @AdamR702 yup

  • I had a coincidence very similar to the phone one Derren talks about. A series of very unlikely events occurred whereby my Nephew who was only about five at the time rang a random number and it just so happened that I was passing that phone box at that time. What makes it more incredible was that I never, and I mean NEVER went out for walks but for some reason that day, at that time I decided to go out for a random walk for no apparent reason. Life is weird sometimes.

  • I can see something in his jacket at 1:12 too, and it's red and white but it doesn't really look like a card to me. I looked at it a couple of times, the pattern is wrong. There's too much red, and the red is too close together.

  • I can also see the turned over seven of harts at 1:12, (well spotted btw), but what about them turning a card over after the first story. Wouldn't that show as well as the "pre-flipped" card?

  • Can't quite find the part where he says HOW to create a "coincidence"

  • He made her pick the number 7. He said there were 10 cards, and not to pick 3 since there were 3 of them. The mind automatically picked 7.

  • tim3njin: Totally right about 1:12. What I don't get is why. I mean, if the couple was in on it, it would have been very easy to hide it from the viewers. So, why?

  • how on earth did you spot that???? it's a split second but yeah it's there!

  • Pause at 1:12. You can see the seven of hearts is already turned over in the deck. This is also why they shuffle the cards under the table.

  • @tim3nijn you're like rainman. well spotted.

  • @tim3nijn Which means that the deck was switched during the camera cut, since the 7 of hearts was clearly visible in the fanned out deck.

    QED

I can't believe Wossy would fool me like that!

  • @kidigus Not necessarily, it could have lied the wrong way up, but beneath another card in the deck. I don't they counted the deck, but it might have come out 51.

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz I really didn't mean that my guess as to how this illusion was accomplished was in any way necessary. I just like the simple answer that makes the fewest assumptions and being in no way gifted or even knowledgeable about card tricks, that is the way I would do it.

  • @kidigus I went back and saw the seven, but there might be a second seven, already turned. But what happened to the card they ACTUALLY turned themselves still baffles me.

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz The easy answer is that the Mr. Ross was in on the trick and the deck was simply switched during the camera cut . I say this because I never saw Jonathan actually turn anything since the deck was supposedly under the table. We did however see a post-camera-cut deck with the card already turned.

  • @tim3nijn Very well spotted!

  • @tim3nijn He also wanted them to take a look at the cards on the table before shuffling them.. But I can't explain.^^"

  • @tim3nijn i can't see it at all.... even when i pause. i see the corner of two cards who seem to be the right way, but might look like it's the wrong way in a flash. also if they turned a card under the table there would be two cards turned in the deck or, highly unlikely, no cards turned as he tells them to turn a card.

  • @tim3nijn If 1 one would already be turned over, why aren't there 2 turned over when they look for the card at the end? And she got to choose which card she wanted so how could he predict that she would choose this card?

  • @tim3nijn I think we are meant to see the card at 1:12 to put us off the scent of how the trick is really done. Brown is extremely sneaky and fastidious about details.

  • She is well hot

  • I don't care what happened. I don't care if it was real or a scam.

It was cute! It made me smile. That's all the matters in the world of Magic. Smiles. xx

  • Hey, what a coincidence, I would bang your red haired wife as well!

  • Idk I think Darren Brown is a fucking alien... I don't think any Human born on this planet, can do this shit... I'm not saying he's psychic, but somehow he has a higher way of influencing others on an unconscious level. I'm going to believe he's an alien. Yup.

  • The fuck? I chose the 7 of hearts at the beginning too.

    It must be a coincidence.

We must be in love. XD

  • @ausieemu the weird thing is... i chose it too. no joke

  • @mellovesgreen29 Clearly, us four were made for eachother. :P

  • @ausieemu Oh yes, clearly, we can foursome :P

  • @mellovesgreen29 make it a fifthsome, I chose the seven of hearts, too.

  • It's funny that they say "I don't know how he did it."

He didn't do anything except put the image in their minds.

They viewed all of the cards before they began, and even though consciously they might not remember where the 7 of hearts was in the deck when face up, they seeked it out and chose it because their mind had already seen it.

  • @ciaobellakate ....but they shuffled the deck.....

  • This is another Chris Angel type scam. The couple is in on it. While the cards were under the table, prior to being shuffled the couple went card by card as they were in order, found the 7 of hearts in each deck, turned it over then shuffled the deck afterward. This trick would not have worked had the cards been pre-shuffled. The purpose of the stories was a distraction so they would have time to count through the cards until they got to the 7 of hearts.

  • @Eric5923 clever

  • @Eric5923 haha. no. people do this stuff all the time and its 100% real. ive personally seen two people shuffle a deck spread them 2 show the mix, then shuffle again and somehow deal the same cards thru the ENTIRE deck. its beyond me my friend.

  • @Eric5923 before you put someone down, actually fucking think about this first. what you said is true, but that's exactly derren's point. he's trying to say we give meanings to things that seem to be a coincidence, but are actually not.

  • @fernandotorres99mess

I never put anyone down. It's a scam, a trick, smoke and mirrors. He uses actors, people who are in on the trick, cuts the sequences, re-dos, different camera angles, doubles, whatever it takes to pull off the trick. Darren is very good at it. There was no coincidence in this trick, there was no meaning to it. A simple parlor trick, and the stories he told were complete fabrications to enhance the deceit. Verbal slight of hand. He is good at it, not a put down.

  • @Eric5923 and you know that for a fact?

  • What's nicholas cage doing here?!

  • @edocsil222 ye but 18 x 7 = 126 years. LOL. WR0NG.

  • Im gonna get laid with these stories.

  • The redhead is sooooooo hot!!!

  • any one know the music title?

  • Think that's Jonathon Ross

  • @quegg It is

  • Obviously, Derren just did this with ~2700 couples. :P

  • Did he just say that the guy in the first story went down on that girl?

So he looks at the guy in the first one, and then ends it on a crude note.

Looks at the woman during the second one.

But I can't see a fisable way that he could have made that happen.

  • He kept saying he didn't know how he did it.Derren didn't really do anything did he?

  • Lol at the emotional music when Derren is telling the story

  • You can tell dude with the long hair is a complete MACK. That's how you pulled carrot top

  • It's Jane Goldman, screenwriter/television presenter/model (and wife of Jonathan Ross, the other participant).

  • whos the red head?

  • @thekingsora wife

  • bullshit.

  • I think he knew she was going to pick the 7 of hearts. How it got flipped over in I'm not sure, could be a variety of methods.

you can impress a chick by asking her to pick a number between 1 and 10, and then say 7, because it's almost always 7.

red? her hair, maybe her personality too, would give that away.

hearts? trickier but i think predictable

if i had to look at her and randomly a what card (between 1-10) and suit, in that order, i would have guessed the 7 of hearts

  • Aww that was sweet hahaha but i do find the second story a bit creepy

  • what's the music?

  • The secret to this trick isn't hypnosis. Just employ two actors, mark the 7 of hearts so it can be distinguished by touch, and your naive audience will think you have magic powers.

  • @FUCKyourGODmyth sceptics go to hell so have fun there

  • @marckami - Hell? Really? Hell is just an imaginary place written about in fairytales. Hell is the imaginary home of the imaginary adversary of your imaginary friend. Are you fucking stupid?

  • @FUCKyourGODmyth and how is it that you KNOW that?

  • @FUCKyourGODmyth fail dipshit, i have done this before you put slight emphasis ont he color-suit- and number like red or BLACK? i know ur simple mind may not understand, seeing u dont believe in god-----how did the big bang happen? nothing created something? it was just always ther? we cant understand gods way, just cuz u cant comprehend something doesnt mean u can believe it, like rocket science.

  • @cantwealjustgetabong No no no, there is a difference between rocket science and religion. Rocket sience and science in general are base upon FACTS. There is no evidence that one or more gods exists. I bet your typical view of an islamic person is a terrorist with a bomb hidden under his belt and an AK-47 in his hand (if it isn't, I'm happy for you and I'll be happy to take that back, no offense ment). Also, you might want to check your sources. The bigbang is not that nothing created something.

  • @Isteinier there was singularity

  • @cantwealjustgetabong And also, why are you critisizing FUCKyourGODmyth for believing in the big bang? You believe in something you don't understand (God) and so does he (the big bang).

@FUCKyourGODmyth If you do understand how the big bang happened, no offense ment.

  • @Isteinier funny part is that a priest proposed the theory and the big bang theory is not so accepted from some people in science BUT what most people think is that science is the one that has to make or find a proof of god but it would be metafisic's job to do so.

  • @HellMuTx Indeed, although it would absolutely rock if someone (scientist, metafysic, or any other person) would have good proof a god. It would be insanely awesome, but it's looking like there isn't...

Also, thank you for saying is that a priest proposed the big bang theory, I did not know that. Always glad to learn new things, as long as they are interesting!

  • @FUCKyourGODmyth They aren't actors - they are English celebrities -talkshow host Jonathon Ross and his wife Jane. And if you read Derren Brown's books he explains how he does most of his tricks. Watch the Derren Brown Simon Pegg thing on youtube where he explains his powers of suggestion.

  • I so wonder how he does this trick. I can approximate it but it's still not as clean and nice as Derren's.

I love the whole premise of anchoring wonderful things and that linking into their relation by the prestige of this trick.

  • i heard the story what derren told on readers digest
