I have just finished reading "Shantaram", an outstanding product of sensitivity and art, and Gregory David Roberts is finally the person who embraced the universe!
I disagree with his opinion on Madonna. I think she seems full of herself, which leads me to believe that she is out of touch with reality. She doesn't appear to be as humble and kind as he says, but I have never met her. The book was great. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to everyone. I to did not want it to end. I'm surprised that there will be a part two.
This is the most beautifully written book I've ever read. I'm such a critical reader, and I could not fault this book... not for grammar, vocabulary, plot, pace, drama, characters - it's perfect. I lament that I read it so early on in my life, because now what? Where to from Shantaram?... nobody knows! Gregory David Roberts, your writing is like music to my soul. Thank you for this piece of literary genius. Please keep writing so I can finally find another book that measures up! LOVE YOUR WORK!

Amazing guy. Not only is the book and his life fascinating but he writes beautifully. He deserves every bit of attention hes getting... finally someone who actually earned it

When people read a large book, if it isn't good they sometimes pretend that it is good. They need to justify spending that amount of time on a large book; the psychological term for this called 'cognitive dissonance'. There is absolutely no need for that though when you read "Shantaram", it is one of the best books I've ever read. It is so engaging on many different levels; a very rich work. Every bit of time you invest in it is worth it.
