Sony and Microsoft NEED to be making improvments on their systems, otherwise there isn't any competition. I'm actualy kind of glad that Microsoft and Bungie are trying to get Halo Reach to look really good, because it will get Sony to get more game developers to develop more exclusives that will look even better. This sort of competition will benefit both 360 and PS3 fans. As long as Mircrosoft and Sony are competing against each other in the game industry, the fans will still have this "war"

And you failed you realize some key factors such as some of the heavy technical differences between the original 60gb PS3s and new slims ones. Such as about a %40 difference in power usage between the two, which results in less heat build up and is quieter. Sony removed a heck of a lot more than the Other OS feature.

For example at one point the PS3 was the only media device that could output a DSD signal through an optical output.

From the start if you looked at all consoles side by side and compare what you got for the money you spent then you'd realize it was never very far off. When the ps3 came out you had backwards compatability, wireless built in, BD-player, and easily upgradeable hard drive. 600 bucks wouldnt have looked so bad thinking of the bigger picture. 300$ cheaper and all we've lost is backwards compatability. Sucks but not too bad.
