They seem great for powering cities but what about transportation? Planes can't run off electricity, electric cars aren't efficent, and who knows if they can connect these to a boat and make them work. I do agree though this looks great for cities!
@dixonman1000 Your right but we could use other sources for transportation and use this for appropriate ways and then atleast cut a portion of our dependency on current energy sources.

Ephedra and Ephedrine diet pills are scientifically proven to melt fat and raise metabolism without diet or exercise.
Xenadrine RFA-1, Metabolife 356, Hydroxycut, Metabolift, and more.
HEAT SCA Stack will give you the strong stimulant effect of pharmaceutical grade diets. Contains also Cayenne Pepper, the secret ingredient Beyonce used for her role in "Dreamgirls." It is all natural and will not give you the side effects of the pharmaceutical ones. Click on my name above.
I believe they would have to hard-line them to the surface, which could really cause some logistical nightmares for these things.
The mechanical energy is converted into electricity through those coils you see in the vid. I think they are wrapped around a magnet, and as they move, they generate a current by moving through the magnetic field. Like how a solenoid works, but just opposite kind of haha.
i was actually thinking about adding that but i didnt want to sound stupid if the rights of this invention didnt belong to the u.s government. ya know?

This is proof that Congress knows about zero-point energy. They've been briefed by the experts in this field, but Bush/Cheney was running the show then. If this subject gets ignored NOW with Obama & the Dems "in charge" then the ones really in charge (the NWO) will continue their stranglehold on us all.
Please visit the Orion Project (dot) org & Fax Obama a message today about clean energy jobs!!
forget about the fish what about a skier or the tow line or anchor geting caught in it,?
would you want to fish around them?
or swim?
its a great idea but maybe put a screen around them if possibe,
or mass produce them on a smaller scale so that you can put then in all streams that are too small for dams, and string them together like christmas lights,
i hope i get paid for my ideas on how to improve them,
Only potential problem I see at this moment is it's lifespan... it's clearly using springs in there, which have a limit to how long they can be used. The amount of power it gets over the energy it took to make it, plus the rate at which it gathers energy, will be the factors that determine whether this will be worthwhile or not. I just hope it works out; we need new power sources like fish need water.
How's that? It's potential is equivalent to the power it can produce in it's lifetime minus the power it took to produce it (with some other factors such as cost to produce, power produced per space used, watts per hour, ect). And anything with moving parts is going to have a set lifespan; IOW, there are limits it will have to overcome. Just because it produces power that we're not collecting doesn't mean it's productive. Otherwise, yeah I did do a shitty job of explaining it the first time =P
listen it would never have gotten this far if it wasnt efficient enough to pay for itself, especially with all the different types of alternative energy around. Lets cut the shit, and both agree that you were dumb for questioning if it would be over the "margin". Solar energy is used because it IS over the "margin". you are crazy for even thinking that.
get a life and stop posting pointless comments like your smarter than the dude that invented this technology. I mean really, if you thought about it what makes you think he didnt. Are you smarter than him and do you no more about this than him. No. People like you should all get in a room together and make shit up about how smart they are it would be a bunch of headcases making shit up to make themselves feel better about how smart they are. its not what you said.........its you.
But yeah I gotcha. I will never question anything ever again. And I'll always assume that any new invention will always work. Also, I guess I should take your advice to never have a dissenting opinion contrary to that of a jackass...
the proffesor that invented the concept wouldn't have made such a big deal about the invention if it cost more to run it than what you save from running it. it doesn't make sense and it wouldnt get any attention if there was that possibility.
Yup, just like solar power. It's surely going to take off just as well, too. Once again I'll never question anything that came from a college, because colleges never lie and the professor would clearly have said something. What was I thinking expressing an original thought?
colleges never lie? have u been to one lately? political correctness comes to mind along with only marxist thought allowed. but this device could be promising but moving and armature up and down doesn't mean a thing. what matters is the amount of work and/or force it can produce. my guess is the government will spend millions to find out it can only power a few hundred iPods make college students feel they r saving the world! lmao! PS....i got a bridge to sell you ;)
LOL, you'll have to go back and read to get the full story (which is long, sad, and pathetic for everyone involved), but I was being sarcastic. I know it doesn't translate well, but you should just realize that nobody would seriously say "What was I thinking expressing an original thought?".
The problem started because I questioned this things capabilities, and then a troll jumped in and said I was stupid for thinking it could have a problem.
the saving is probably more than the cost, but so are wind farms, solar panels, and other renewable energy sources. the real question is can it be cheap than fossil fuel.
Yeah I would have to imagine that the coils are wrapped around a magnet, and as they move through the magnetic field, they generate an alternating current. Pretty cool!
@Truthiness231, I have to say, you must be pretty dumb. I mean, this technology exists, so it MUST work, and it's irresponsible and completely illogical to point out potential "flaws." Just like ethanol production as a viable alternative to our oil consumption...it is prevalent, so it must work!
Why didn't he say that the increase in the amplitude of motion is due to resonance? That the vortexes push the cylinders just like a playground swing??
I could be wrong, but I don't think it has anything to do with resonance. The upstream flow is uniform. The frequency depends on the vortices formation.
I'm confused. It sounds like he's using University of Michigan resources and yet he's personally profiting by having his own company take it commercially.
No matter; the main thing is that it has lots of potential to make this a cleaner world. Let's hope it really, really works!
i am in raptures with this concept. Government should fund this project.

I thought those are spring too, but after thinking about it a little bit, it's probably just some coil to generate electricity.
@ Shadapaga, universities are not product driven. Sometimes they invent stuff just because it's cool.
blueboar1986 2 years ago
They probably are coils much like wind turbines use to generate electricity except as the elements go up and down instead of spinning.
