  • I rememeber using alldata when i was talking my highschool autoshop class. It is a very useful program indeed.

  • Im an ALLDATA Automotive Information Specialist. I can use this whenever i want ;).

FYI: Vehicle scanners dont tell u whats wrong with the car, they just give u a place where u can start from.

Example: If you pull a code that means bad O2 sensor. IT DOES NOT MEAN THE O2 SENSOR IS BAD!

  • MILEAGE CORRECTION SERVICE

    MILEAGE LOWERING / CHANGE MILEAGE

    EMAIL ME AT BUSINEZ@HOTMAIL.CO.UK

  • lol i wish there was a way to connect the car to a laptop so the laptop can check the problems on a car. Most of my problems are electrical and sometimes not even the electro-mechanics know whats the problem on my car. it keeps ruining my alternators.

  • you have to pay for every vehicle model you fix

  • @ELDURODE100PRE yes, but you're saving money fixing each car. Me, I have a subscription for the whole data system, but I am a professional mechanic and if you haven't noticed, nothing is free for businesses. After all , you paid for the car too, it wasn't free either.

  • U HAVE TO PAY,?????

  • @landykid60 yes, just like everything else in our capitalist society.

  • how to fix The ECU computer 1997 Saturn

  • @TheJceo if it's broken you must replace it. a 97 can not be reprogrammed, it does not have that capability

  • U GOTTA BUY THE PROGRAM,,, GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

  • @bobthebuilder6938 what do you think, car repair is free? Are groceries at the store free? are houses free?. Get real baby.

  • Can't say what's wrong with it but I have an astro that is always low on fuel pressure. However just a spray of starter fluid does the trick for me. I may have a weak fuel pump. I was told the fuel pressure regulator may be bad but if that's so, why can't I smell the extra gas. The van runs great! It just needs starter fluid on cold starts. I can live with that! lol Hey Scotty, I do enjoy your lighthearted look at life! Good show man!

  • Haha. That is laptop in this video is what i have. lol.

  • Yep. I used my computer to fix my car, sold the thing for $200 and bought a new gasket. Fixed. Thanks Scotty.

  • @pugs1951 har de har har. Scotty

  • Hey Scotty , I'm getting into the DIY mechanic scene, as I want to really care for my evo7. Before paying for this site

    1. have I found the right one just being called alldata.com or was it something else

    2. Will it have all I need for my evo7

    3. Does it go into ecu's and how to flash them and all that sort of stuff

    4. Does it have in depth explanations as to how and why things work? As I'm new to mechanical work and would really like to be able to learn this without trawling for hours

  • hey i have a 1987 ford falcon xf ute and it blows oil out the exhaust can you tell me whats wrong

  • @MrGunrilla old age, worn piston rings and valve seals. Live with it and keep putting oil in it, or rebuild the engine. Scotty

  • @Toyota4Runner4Ever YAH HOW HE DID IT!!!

  • @Toyota4Runner4Ever How do you think? I pay for it, that kind of information for that small amount of money is quite a deal. scotty

  • I will try to find this site. Thanks for sharing. A link would have been better though.

  • I have a buick lesabre 88 and i was driving it one day and it just shutoff it acted like it needed gas we went to several mechanics and replaced the entire fuel tank new fuel pump and fuel filter we replaced the fuel fuse we did some unnecessary stufff like new battery and fuel module we dont know what the problem is any ideas we know that gas isnt getting to the engine??

  • @cashout4lyfe measure the fuel pump pressure near the fuel injectors on the engine top. If you have pressure there, then odds are the injectors are not pulsing fuel as the engine cranks. that's a computer or comptuer sensor problem, such as a bad crank sensor or bad computer. scotty

  • Have a 1998 Crown Victoria LX and suddenly overnight, I started the engine, it is knocking very loudly when it starts and also I see oil draining out from under engine. I added more oil and it all come out. What is the problem. Yet when I last drove into driveway, it was fine and no red oil on.

  • @SunGlo49 time for a new engine or car. Knocking is piston slap, and there's a hole somewhere in the engine where the oil is coming out. Have a mechanic look at it to see if the whole engine is shot with a cracked block or thrown rod though. It may be less than that. Scotty

  • how many cars do you own?

  • @BLAKESTONED most of these cars are customer cars I'm working on. I have 3 toyotas myself. Scotty

  • hello..what program that you use for automotive?

  • HI SCOTTY THANKS FOR SHARE ALL YOUR EXPERIENCE ;DO YOU HAVE A VIDEO HOW TO REPLACE BUSHINGS I HAVE A NISSAN 240SX DO I NEED SPECIAL TOOLS MY EMAIL IS ivanespii@yahoo.com thanks IVAN

  • @Sarita26iv not bushing per se, but I have one showing how to replace a lower control arm as the bushing don't come off on a lexus so you change the whole arm. just go to the scottykilmer channel and type in the search "replacing a lower control arm." Scotty

  • Scotty, thanks for your sharing. You're a good friend of youtube DIYers who will always appreciate what you have done.

  • How do I fix a check engine light on a 1997 Suzuki Sidekick?

  • @KLuce6 you hook up a scan computer and see what the code is, then fix that problem. Or you remove the dash and take the bulb out of the light. Scotty

  • ive got a e36 (auto :( ) and when its in park sometimes it idles high and revs itself.. it does so very occaisionaly in drive. how do i stop it? is it an idle control valve?

  • @N0sPr4Yu watch my other video "Fixing a car that idles poorly". Scotty

  • @scottykilmer i just saw it! thanks a million, your vids are so helpful

  • damn scotty's like a dude! btw, is it true that if my car's in neutral and it vibrates, the problem is the spark plugs?

  • @Ahya728 It could be, start there and pray it's not something more complex. like weak fuel injectors. Scotty

  • @Ahya728 it can be a Couple of things 1 spark plugs 2 Engine mounts 3 Ignition distributor Not working well 4 Low Turns of the engine in neutral And that is just tightening a screw in the car.

  • twenty some odd dollars isnt much for a site that could save thousands. which would you choose, twenty dollars for all you need A YEAR or thousands of dollars for one thing

  • @13FravelJ Yes, I can see you get the point. Scotty

  • What would a good field to study in college if I am good with computers and cars? I am certified in hardware and software and above average with mechanics.

  • @honchoryanc couldn't say, I learned in the school of hard knocks to fix cars from my grandfather the mechanic. But any electronic field would be fine, as everything is going electronic these days. Scotty

  • Scotty you should be upfront telling people that is fee based service.

  • @RudeMcNasty Ah, your name says it all. Gee, if you can fix your car using information that costs twenty bucks, you should be happy. Scotty

  • @RudeMcNasty Scotty first and foremost I like to say

thank you for all the useful information you post on cars!

Saying you should be up front is not unreasonable request

$20 doesn't seem like a lot until you reach into your pocket and come up empty.

  • @RudeMcNasty Autozone provides a basic version of Alldata free of charge. If you want more, you gotta pay. Those companies have to pay manufacturers for info and pay tech people to put the programs together. You really expect it to be free? Those of us who do it professionally pay hundreds for subscriptions to Alldata, Mitchell, Shopkey and others.

  • man, you buy me, I love engines since I was a baby...4 strokers or 2 st, V-twin, parallel, inline, boxers, 45°´s, wankel but my all time fav the yzr500 owe0 bigbang power stroker

  • you're genius man thank you

  • Does alldata.com cost anything?

  • @kilagon10 it's a subscription service, twenty something bucks a year for a car. Scotty

  • @kilagon10

yes a arm and a leg.

  • scotty how do you take off a camshaft on a chevy 350 small block

  • @mizzlazy209 You have to pull the engine out of the vehicle and tear it all down, pulling the heads and everything else off. Scotty

  • scotty how do you take off a camshaft on a chevy 350 small block

  • Scotty, I'm curious.. Have you ever fixed a Lambo or a Ferrari?

  • @lamiasubs Yes, they are GIANT pain in the asses and the parts will bankrupt you. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer I can only imagine. :(

Nevertheless, I drive a Lancer ES as it is. Lambo LP670-4 SV is the dream car

Thanks for the videos btw :)

  • Love AllData, used it for a while now.

  • NICE!!!

    TNX FOR THE TIP!

  • Comment removed

  • @PsychoFreke Well, you are one fool if you think cars aren't that complex (or you're driving a model I Ford.) If you're that cheap, walk. Scotty

  • Scotty, I have been watching youtube videos all day, everyday, for the last 2 weeks. I have found 2 mechanics on here that I enjoy and you are one of them. Your short response time coupled with your real world attitude and humor makes you a respectable man. Thanks for all your efforts! Keep it up!

    -Tim

  • Scotty, I have a 1996 Ford F150 that won't pass inspection because my check engine light is on and the code P0118 appears when i plug in a scanner. I replaced the sending unit for my temperature gauge along with the housing and the code is still there. Any suggestions?

  • @BIoodThirst55 then you either have a wiring problem in that system, OR a bad main computer. Normally it's the wiring. Scotty

  • @BIoodThirst55 Bust your check engine light out.

  • @BIoodThirst55 yeah, unscrew dash and pull that lamp out an toss it in the garbage and prolem solved

  • @BIoodThirst55 I have one suggestion, after the repair, did you reset the engine codes? The old days it took unhooking the battery but the newer II models require a reset signal sent from the code reader. We had the emissions board go out 3000 miles within the end of the warranty (whew) but thats where I learnt about that annoying engine light. You may have already tried it but sometimes the obvious isnt so obvious.

  • god this reminds me of a infomercial

  • @KarstonLikesMustangs It's information, if you want to fix your car and save money, use this system. And if you complain about 29 bucks a year, you're so cheap you shouldn't be driving a car in the first place. scotty

  • @scottykilmer haha i was just joking around, it's great information.

  • Sir Scotty, I badly need your help. I have a 2003 civic Honda that’s already 15 days in the car shop. Its cranking and all other parts are in good condition.

Is it maybe because I have change the original alarm of my car to a new alarm? Do I need reprogram my car?

Your good advice is highly appreciated

  • @karlorojo It could be an alarm problem, and if so, I'd disconnect your add on alarm and see if it starts then. NEVER put one alarm system over another. Scotty

  • Hey scotty is cool so i dont want to hear you guys say anything bad about him. Learn from him and shut the h*() up !

  • haha lmao too! its funny how scotty burns thats one guy and at the end he says..scotty XD

  • ahhh alldata, gotta love it. It's definitely worth getting. Comes in handy

  • Hahaha @ intro and outro.

It's funny in a sad way.

  • if you're a backyard mechanic/do it yourself individual go to e-bay and pick up a CD-ROM usually cheap depending on make and model you'll get detail info on your vehicle.

I own a Honda accord and a prelude and my gf has a corolla I got repair manuals on CD-ROM for 8.99 with thousand of pages of info. they are called Helms manuals. anyway folks of the net just search the web you can download these manuals for free if you know where to look or spend the 8.99

    just sharing my knowledge.

  • thank you very much for your videos, I learn a lot by watching them

  • Hey scotty thanks for the info!!

    GO BEARS!!!

  • You have great videos. This one is a pearl. Love the Lauren Bacall/Bogart clip. Keep up the great work!!!

  • My mechanic teacher at my school has All Data. Its the best program I ever used, ever since I started using that thing, I wanted to fix more cars!!! I used it to repair numerous things on my car the 97 Oldsmobile 88, and other teacher & students cars. Its super easy.

  • Constructive Crit here.. The intro and the outro of all your vids makes me and possibly many others think ":S what was the point of that ?'. It gives off the impression that your just trying to show off with your vehicles

  • @pojnx Get a sense of humour. They're not even my vehicles, they are vehicles I'm testing out for manufacturers. They are fun, and if you don't like em. don't watch em. It's a free world and you are a boring turd. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer You just totally OWNED that scrub. You rock buddy!

  • @scottykilmer Scotty you're awesome!

  • haha scotty your epic you know!

  • hey wht if u don't have All Data Access how u going to fix u r car ?

  • @shuan44 Modern cars are VERY complex, and often serious information is needed to fix them, hence I use All Data. Stuff like brake jobs, fan belts, spark plugs, you don't need such info. But you need it for complex stuff, that's for sure. Scotty

  • 20 bucks is a rip off what a load shit want 3secs of my life back please...

  • @stigmatic79 Twenty dollars for great car repair information is a deal if you plan on fixing your own car and saving money. Mechanics pay 2500 dollars a year for such information. You live in some fantasy land. Scotty

  • @stigmatic79 20 bucks costs just as much as one of the books for one car, and this has EVERY car. You are a moron. Scotty is god.

  • @stigmatic79 Have you been at any auto parts store lately? They want 24.99 for ONE book. $20 sounds like a pretty good deal to me. You never waste time looking for that one page you JUST SAW with what you are looking for, the pages never get all full of oil and if they do, you just print out another. I don't get it, how can you lose?

  • @stigmatic79 alldata is the shit, son. if you work on all kinds of cars everyday, there is no substitute.

  • thanks scotty ur kick ass

  • U have to pay?

  • @iiNaRcOtIkZz Yes,but twenty something bucks to learn how to fix your car correctly is a bargain to be sure. Scotty

  • Keep up the good work Scotty, don't change your style it makes these videos so

    much more watchable...

  • I love this guys energy. Thanks for the vids Scotty

  • I have a question for my pickip truck it has a problem that i dont what is. when i shift down to D and peddla the gas it dos not go like normal it would go mmmmmmmmmmmm bum stars to go fast because i accelerate all the way bottom because it gont go it just goes mmmmmmmmmmmmmm pum. what do you think.

  • @Fmiguelify Many things can cause an engine not to take off correctly, but weak fuel pumps or clogged fuel filters are number one on the list. so check that first. Scotty

  • @Fmiguelify blown gasket

  • Hey Scotty, I want to try the hard launch in that mustang....hehe

  • GIVE ME A THUMBS UP IF YOU DON'T NEED A MANUAL TO FIX THAT LADY!!! xD LOL!

Look, 5 people that watched this video drive a Lamborguini!

  • Everything I've learned how to fix on Audi, Alfa Romeo, BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, etc... have been found free online (never used ALLDATA). I've owned and repaired many cars and others.

  • I can get All Data access for free at the public library.

  • @bigDbigDbigD Really? How?

  • I use ALLDATA for my 2003 Volvo S60. In4 years it has saved me hundreds, if not more.

  • hey scotty ur an awesome guy and hell very useful , the info u give us is priceless

    thanks scotty

  • What is the URL of this website?

  • Hi Scott,

this website is not free right?

  • @chironasty It is a pay web site. If you plan on saving thousands repairing your own car, paying twenty something bucks for this information is quite a deal. Scotty

  • THIS GUY SOUNDS SO RATTY...

  • @saidpour676 What the heck does "ratty" mean? the guy below says I'm friendly, and you say ratty. guess you can't please everyone. Scotty

  • @saidpour676 I think he's just hyper... but you should hear me! :D eeer, no disrespect intended. You probably drive a Lamborguini anyways.

  • I really like this guy! Friendly as the Stooges....

  • what is the link please?

  • I have an old vw scirocco and it breaks down a lot, how can i save money and keep it running?

  • @moe354sa You can save money by selling it and getting a Toyota that is better made. If you want to keep it running though, change the oil a lot and don't overheat the engine on the temperature gauge. And don't drive it like a maniac. Scotty Kilmer

  • Hmm. The only thing, and I mean only thing, I find odd about this.. is this doesn't explain how the AC I've ever had operates. It's always been a system I just turn on to whatever fan speed I want, with a temp setting seemingly changing the temp of the incoming air. But it's just a dumb on/off system.. it never auto-shuts off or anything like that.

Does that just mean I've always had non-computer driven AC systems? Newest car I've owned was a 2006 Pontiac G6, it was like that too. Thanks!

  • @MonolithTyriss Oh, even those babies are computer operated. Those switches don't go directly to the Ac system, they go to a computer that decides what to do. EVEN an 81 toyota corolla had computer assisted AC. Scotty

  • I like your videos your the man Scotty thx so much :)

  • thnx scotty!

  • Website is not FREE! It is 24.95 for each car and add extra 16.95 for additional cars. You have to pay it every year to access. Basicly you are buying owners manual of your car.

  • @jujutube123 Hey, what a cheapskate you are. Yes, in life, many things are NOT free. But the information you get from this site is going to save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars performing your own repairs. and it is a LOT better than an owner's manual as it has updated technical service bulletins and full wiring diagrams. And if you don't think that's worth money, you don't know much about repairing at all. Scotty Kilmer

  • @jujutube123 I agreed !!

What car you own and what manaul you need pm me i will help you out on this for you... $8 under 1990 cars $12 1990 + 2000 + $20

  • Whats the site again? It didnt work for me.....

  • @elitecssplayer All data pro dot com but you have to buy membership or something like that

  • Scotty you are great !!!!! thank you for your all helpful info.... God bless.

    Frank... Niagara falls ON .

  • @farzini2 Why, I was just there last week visiting my parents on the American side and the falls on the Canadian side. I graduated from York University in 1975, so I know a bit about Canada. Scotty Kilmer

  • thank you so much

  • Can't find the website

  • i wished i have the same grandpa?

  • all check it out

  • Has anyone come across a website like this for europe? Or Bmw in specific?

    Good info though scotty.

  • @kcatto Then you have to use your own computer to fix it (your brain.) Scotty Kilmer

  • love the site use it at school all the time. alldata rocks but you didnt mention that it is rather expensive unless you pay for only one car. my teacher told us it cost 2000 with school discount for all of the cars. one kid did buy a subscription for his lancer and said it was only 50. is this right?

  • @needzpower2 Yes, subscriptions are even less than 50 bucks for one car for one year. A LOT of information. Scotty Kilmer

  • @scottykilmer ya its really nice and user friendly. thanks.

  • Gotta love that damn Scotty Kilmer!

  • scotty i need help

well i have a 94 honda civic ex 1.6 engine and when i took it to firestone they charged me alot of money for a sensor i needed and at then end the problem was still there, they told me it was because i needed a new computer since the previous owners got a new engine for the car. im guessing the person who worked on the engine didnt install a new computer so it has different kinds of problems like speedometer wont work and check engine light is always on, abs light pops out

  • @amxgamer and it kind of rumbles and has a hard time warming up in the mornings or any time, for instance if i leave my car for an hour or two i have to warm it up again.

  • If they put in an engine from a different year civic, Good luck trying to get it running right. Computers, sensors, and wiring changes every year. Trying to make the wrong engine work in a different car can be impossible in some cases. It will just be an endless money pit trying to figure out what's wrong, and there is no book that will tell you how to do it. NEVER swap parts from different year cars. Your only hope is to find someone who did that and found out all the things to change. Scotty

  • i see what you mean and thank you but the thing is it is the right engine but it came from a different car, what i mean is the engine is probably from a different 94 civic, and even if it is a different engine but same year and everything it wont work at all?

  • It would have to be the same exact engine, same displacement and same cams to work right. Civics use many different engines and even a small difference will mess with the computer electronics, I see it all the time in botched attempts to get them going. scotty Kilmer

  • Scotty.. please please help..

I have a daewoo matiz , very small car but gets me round. Recently the thing stoped charging so i replaced the alternator and away i went. I checked for oil leaks to make sure no oil was getting onto the alternator and all has been fine for 3 weeks The alternator is brand new. Now all of a sudden its doing it again.. Is it the alternator again or could it be something else? pleaseeee someone help :S

  • Many times rebuilt alternators are crap, so have it tested and replace it if it's gone bad. And of course check all the wires going to the alternator to ensure there are no shorts or cracking insulation on the wires. AND, also load test the battery, because a weak battery can destroy an alternator quickly. Scotty Kilmer

  • Scotty your a real pro. Today before reading this is took it all off again.. what a pain on a car like this. It was corrosion between the positive connections.. such a simple problem but i just wanted it on there.. sanded the connections and all is working.. thanks a million. i guess it takes some patients and attention to detail.

  • I enjoy this. I use alldatadiyDOTcom

    -Robert

  • what the website cant find it

  • Hi scotty how can I set the timing did i need to disconect a sersor o a wire .also how to check for codes on my 93 Mercury villager minni van 3.0 engine.production date July 1993 Thank you so much

  • No sensors to disconnect, just do this:IGNITION TIMING

Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.

Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.

Race the engine 2 or 3 times then idle .

Check the ignition timing. Yellow mark is TDC and all other marks are 5°increments

Timing should be 15°±2°BTDC. If not proceed to step 5.

Adjust the ignition timing by turning the distributor. Scotty Kilmer

  • I have just looked on the website must be USA only as my Ford Fiesta is not on there

  • Yes, it is a US based data software company, you would need a European one, and as I don't live there, or work on cars there, I couldn't suggest one. Scotty Kilmer

  • you may have many contacts here and there, could you do an effort to suggest one website for European cars?? nice website by the wway

  • sorry i wanted to write engine temperatur ..water

  • hey scotty, i couldnt find my 1998 fiat bravo. onb the website. my car temperatur gage is not illuminated and i wanted to fix it.:D

  • There's a bulb in there that's probably burned out. remove the dash and check for a burned out bulb, then hope the circuit feeding the bulb is OK as they do go out. They don't sell fiats in that states, so no American data system will include them. Scotty Kilmer

  • I aint paying for that sh!t.

  • Well, the money you'd pay a mechanic is astronomical compared to the small less than thirty bucks a year for this information. I personally us all data many times a day in my business and here giving out free information to viewers. Scotty Kilmer

  • but the page isnt free right?

  • It's almost free. Twenty something bucks for such information for a year is a pretty good deal. Mechanics pay over two thousand dollars a year to access all the cars on the site (instead of just one.) And it is WAY better than the printed ones. Scotty Kilmer

  • wow tyvm for the link on that site! : D

  • hahaha alldata is free for me.... I know the BOCES password and username so I'm set.

  • email them to me and ill email you a 100 bucks.

  • gotta pay for that stupid alldata shit. sucks. at least autozone is free....

  • Well, one must consider what you would pay a mechanic to do your repairs. You are saving a ton doing it yourself, and the small fee they charge isn't much. Considering that professional mechanics use the same data base, but pay thousands a year for it, this small fee for a do it yourselfer is one heck of a bargain. Scotty Kilmer

  • my car wen crazy on the dashboard as i was driving it start smoking and died at me the mecanic said i was the computer so i bought a used one i didint work and it was a no money return thing ill tryit again the mecaninc said is not pasing gas is he just riping me off after all im a single mom and have no idea what he is telling me !!!!

  • If your dashboard did start smoking, electrical problems exist in the dash, and possibly a lot of other places. Electricity follows wires all through a vehicle, so a problem in one area can quickly spread just about anywhere in the car. Once you actually see smoke, things have gone pretty far already. It may be a true money pit trying to find all the electrical problems that exist. AND, as I've seen it many times, don't just throw in another computer, it may just burn out from other problems.

  • this webside is not useful for australia we have defrent make and modells of cars

  • OH yea. Gee, I've answered a bunch of questions for Australians over the years. Cars are cars, they all work the same, the names may change but their operations are pretty much the same. Scotty Kilmer

  • Comment removed

  • thnks for sharing nice information....

  • Thank God for the net. We can exercise our free speech rights here. So far! :D

  • hi mate, guess this is like the autodata collection. is this site free and is it compatible with european cars?
