  • beautiful

  • when i saw you play this i thought i have to learn that. I'm okay upto first page then it gets really hard. Especially that left hand twiddly bit!

  • I liked the tuturiol you did well :D. I also loved the story of peter because I never heard of that story lol

  • thanks A LOT :D

  • please someone tell me that pigs can fly when i someone tells me that i will be able to play this xD

  • ive got the same copy of music but it is akinor then changes to e major?

when i saw the video to this, it was a mouse trying to stop his home flooding

  • @TheCoastermann - is that mouse/flooding video on YT? I'd like to see it ... I say that as I live in Bangkok and I'm trying to stop my home from flooding right now too :)

  • Amazing!

  • how long have you played the piano?

  • me again, how do you trill with the left hand at the end so fast? do you do any exercises to make it easier?

  • @0MindSwept0 ... the tremolo? I did a short tremolo tutorial actually, it's in the Q&A playlist if you're interested.

  • @PaulBartonPiano ok, ill look

  • can u gimme that sonnata?

  • I'm learning this for my recital- your video on Rachmaninov and this were both sooo helpful. Thank you Paul.

  • I must ask,how long have you played the piano?

  • have you done a cover of Beethoven moonlight sonata mvt 3 Because i heard you do a bit of it and was very fluent ?

  • Hi, where did you get the music for this, i notice that in the begining the clefts are in Bass...

  • @MajorKandMinorK -- if you mean you'd like the score (?) you can download it free from a link in the info. Yes, both hands play right at the bottom of the piano, so the right hand gets a bass clef for a while. Sometimes we're told the treble clef is for the right, the bass for the left, but clefs are really more for convenience of notation, i.e. so the minimum of ledger (also leger) lines need to be added below or above the stave, the more there are, they harder it is to read the notes.

  • do YOU use a pedal when you play this song?

  • @0MindSwept0 -- yes.

  • Hey Paul,

You really impressed me with this tutorial! So far the best seen on YouTube! And there are lots of tutorials out there! Especially I totally adore the "story background", you provide! Really interesting!

A little improvement:explain something about the counter rhythm (2 vs. 3). That can be really confusing! For others: look up the counter rhythm on wikipedia and get it going with your hands, really helped me!

I am working since a few days on this and totaally love it!

    greetings!:)

  • @TheYoungprodigy21 -- good luck!!!

  • Thanks for the tutorial and for the score :D

I've learned the first section XD

It's cool to see that people from all over the world knows this song, and not just us Norwegians :D

  • @SebbyChampion -- yes, you're right, it is cool, Grieg would be have been so happy if he'd known. Well done for the first section. It's not so difficult as it repeats so much, once you get the pattern you'll soon get to the end. Good luck with it and let me know how you get on.

  • thank you so much :)

    it was really helpful!

  • Hi! I wrote a comment of your other video of this piece. I have no piano experience but would love to play this! I've made it through sections 1 and 2. I can't read music so I listen and watch your hands. Currently, I'm trying to perfect section 2 because I still make a lot of mistakes with my right hand. If you had the time, I would LOOOOVE it if you could make a video of the sections in slow motion! That would be amazing!

  • this has been VERY informative, and enjoyed the whole thing.

  • You can play Beethoven's Moonigt Sonata 3rd Mv????? I never knew that! You should post it on You Tube! Will you?? PLEASE?? :)

  • @MusicClassical1 ah yes! sounds fantastic!!!!! please a video would be wonderful!

Then again before Christmas, but I stopped it cause I had to focus on my Impromptu. But this piece will be in my report-ore before the year Is out :) .. hopefully!, hehe! :)

  • Man Wonderful !!!

  • Amazing performances !!!

  • Amazing !!!

  • very under rated piece, atleat in my opinion. many musicians, do not know this piece of griegs. And i think its a shame, very very emoitonal and charming piece, well done. i love it

  • Wonderful !!! I loved your videos !!!

  • Hey Paul, I noticed you played a little of the moonlight sonata. Are you going to post a video on this piece?

  • As always, a pure joy! True, Grieg has been branded a minor composer, but the melodies he came up with, and indeed searched for, are quite catchy and brimming with pride for his country. Is his work more popular with "Pop" Orchestras?

  • Very nice work :)

  • really interesting! you did a great job Paul, as usual! 5*

    hugs

    marzia

  • You're really nice to take time to post tutorials.

Are there any tutorials on pieces like fur elise?

  • Can't get enough of this very informative tutorials! :)

  • thanks for sharing, Paul. You played so well.

  • Grieg's piano solo music is heard relatively rarely in the concert hall. I think this is a pity. Thanks for your tutorial on and performance of "In the Hall of the Mountain King".

  • Paul....I like it....Thank you for share
