  • Well to get to the root of the problem, the main issue are not the banks and companies who are getting involved into that dirty business. There's nobody else to blame but ourselves. We use cars to do shopping, we travel around by plane, we keep our homes warm with oil heating.

These institutions are only satisfying a public demand to supply our comforts. So in my opinion, we basically need to get rid of our lazyness and these outdated oil-fuelled technologies.

  • Beaver, you had a chance to talk, and everything you said was: "Stop the starspspsptands!"

    But I still love you.

  • they won't stop that now China is now lining up to get their oil form there so expect to see Alberta covered end to end in oil tar.

  • Alberta is the new appalachia .

  • JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP

    "STOP THE OIL INDUSTRY "

IT'S TIME PEOPLE WAKE UP TO THIS REALITY WE CALL THE SYSTEM

  • So are the ppl in this retarated, shouldnt we be fighting things ppl actually care about i mean wtf

does anyone care? other then losers with no lives and has to blame other people for polution polution problems or something?

most oif this wasnt even based on facts? i mean come on!

  • @PhatBob777 i agree, these are pretty much made up facts...why doesn't someone in this "band" do their research

  • @PhatBob777 spell check, buddy.

  • i was there

    propagandhi kicked ass

i put those stickers around my neighborhood

  • fuck yeah Propagandhi!

  • Think of this as pollution recovery, which in fact it is.

What you seem to have difficulty coming to grips with is that this pollutant is worth a lot of money, so those who are spending monet to recover it will be doing their utmost to recover every little bit of it.

They do not deliberately allow money to escape their plants. That is contrary to their interests.

In short you are an idiot, convinced that these people deliberately throw away profits just to pollute the earth.

    Duuhhhh.....

  • @ozzirt "Pollution recovery, which in fact it is" - I am assuming since you won't quote a source you are parroting unfounded garbage. But say you are right (which you're not) but say you were (which you aren't) - Why are hundreds of Waterfoul dying from landing in these 1% polluted tailing ponds? Why can't fish live in them if they are so clean??? Will you drink a glass of this "water" to prove your point? No. Because you are a spineless parrot for the right wing conservatives. That's why.

  • They are removing the the tar, which is the major pollutant here.

Yeah, I know, you don't know what tar or tar sands are.

I never said the ponds were clean, but fish can't swim in tar either, so relatively it has gone from 100% pollutant to maybe less than 1%.

That is a reduction in the amount of available pollutant you clot.

I have voted Labor for 45 years , so how am I a right winger?

More facts, less emotive guesswork. Idiot.

  • @ozzirt Also, I agree the pollutant is worth money. But is THAT worth the environmental cost and burden created by it? Where is a responsible line here? It's not black or white dude. There is a middle ground that lies between. It is unconstructive for both sides to bicker about who's right and who's wrong. Something needs to be done to ensure the sustainability of our future.

  • Of course the answer is a resounding YES!, because it is win, win situation. You lower the pollutant burden in the ground and employ hundreds probably thousands of people whilst at the same time making a profit and producing a product that is much needed.

  • How can you stop them you moron. They are already there. You just want people not to get any advantage out of them and let them just sit there, slowly polluting the water table and surrounding land.

    Duh,.....

  • @ozzirt You know, you right wing tools are actually right. We should all prosper off the destruction of our own ecosystem. Slap on the sunscreen and enjoy the global warming. Ignoring the truth makes it go away right?

  • Consumerism finances the oil sands. Your idiotic show fuel that consumerism. Enjoy driving around from useless show to useless show. As an environmentalist, I am offended by hypocrites like you.

  • @bangkoksuzy Environmentalist??? Are you one of those really dumb environmentalists who believe a worth-while cause will advertise and spread information itself?? While I agree a bunch of angry teens in a mosh-pit may not be the most sensible thing in the world, neither is doing SFA for fear of it impacting the environment even slightly. That's just delusional.

  • Yeah that's right. scream and kick and achieve nothing, allowing the tar sands to polute the water table and air further.

All people like you want, is top stop someone else from making a profit out of getting rid of a natural pollutant.

It's already polluting the earth, using it is not going to cause any worse pollution and it might just keep a few hundred persons in employment for 20 years or so.

  • @ozzirt Between 2 to 4.5 volume units of water are used to produce each volume unit of synthetic crude oil (SCO) in an ex-situ mining operation. Despite recycling, almost all of it ends up in tailing ponds, which, as of 2007, covered an area of approximately 50 km2 (19 sq mi). So how are we "getting rid of a natural pollutant" as you stated??? Or was that another ignorant right wing knee jerk response?

  • They are still only the same pollutants that were in the sands to begin with, plus, 99% of them have been separated off as bitumen. The amount of pollutant in the ground is therefore being REDUCED you prat.

  • @ozzirt So we strip the scrub and topsoil to mine the stuff, reclaim a token amount to keep the government happy, create toxic sludge ponds to store the waste and claim we are heroes for contributing more pollutants to the earth? The jobs you speak of could just as easily be created in the renewable energy sector. The point here is that we are destroying land for an un-sustainable resource for the profit of a few. The RBC and mining companies could give a shit about that. Do you?

  • Creating pollutants,... how so.

The ponds you keep waffling about contain a minuscule percentage of the original pollutant that was already leaching into the water table. The major part of the "pollutant" having been recovered.

One day a single brain cell will fire in your brain and you will think that you are Einstein.

Tell me how the renewable energy sector is going to make bitumen with wind turbines and Hydro electric power you clot.

  • climate change advocates with a band named 'propagandhi'?

    that's not transparent or anything...

  • Their amps are powered by Jord's farts... didn't you know that?

  • yeah

    i was there :)
