One day I will visit here for an extended trip (Summer of 2011) . I got to get away from the city (Los Angeles). Such beautiful scenery there. "The Last Great Place."
@evxdaddy Check their website at nps.gov. The folks at Glacier do a very good job of posting updates to openings/closings of sections of the park and the roads. In early summer there's a chance of the Going to the Sun Road not being open. Our first year there we started 6/18 & GTTSR wasn't open until the last 3 days of our 2 week trip. The following year we went about a month later and the west side of the park was closed due to a wildfire. I hope you're a hiker-Hidden Lake is gorgeous!
@AmbassadorVP target date is early june for being open, rarely has ever missed that although there have been avalanche that has closed the road and rare storms, wildfires are very uncommon and IM assuming you are talking about the 2000 season. Anyhow it is always a risk in Montana but usually not a problem until late august.
I am going to this place for the 4th of July weekend. Can someone tell me where we can find the Grizzly's! I have never seen one and would love to spot it in the wilderness
Naruto843, your best bet when visiting any national park is to stop at the visitor centers and talk to the rangers. they can tell you about recent animal sightings and their habits, places to see wildflowers, etc. Good luck and have a great time! We love the place!
@naruto843, I've seen them in a number of places, but have run into them consistently in the North West end of the park along the Kintla Lakes. They are spectacular but make sure you keep your distance!
Oh man, GNP is one of my greatest favorite NPs. Was there last early summer and it was exactly as beautiful as portrayed in the clip. Thanks for sharing!!!
Of course it looks a lot better on the DVD than on YouTube! No stabilization was used but the wide angle lens from Canon was used on the boat trip. Can't wait to go back!
If you're camping try Many Glacier CG. For hiking try Avalanche Lake, Grinnell Lake, Redrock Falls, Iceberg Lake, Hidden Lake & Goat Lick Overlook (bring binoculars, zoom lens) at the southern tip of the park. You may run into trouble driving the Going-To-The-Sun Rd depending on weather and plowing conditions. Avoid August because of wildfire possibilities. Big horn sheep and mountain goats can be seen at Logan Pass. Glacier NP's website is great.

Pretty good for the XL1. Did you use any adaptions? How did you steady the shot in the boat?
