Jackie O was iconic: Smart, pretty, elegant and always impeccably dressed.
No wonder she married twice to extraordinary men: Husband #1.) The president of the US and most powerful man on earth Husband #2) The richest man on earth at that time
Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis was a smart , quiet, behind the scenes, classy, elegant woman that once graced our White House from Jan 61 to Nov 63. She was quite stunning and in such a very short time there she made such a significant impact on the world. She was unique and brought style, appreciation of the arts and culture as well as a subtle class to the forefront during her lifetime. Gone now but she will never be forgotten.
Actually, her Spanish was pretty bad. Mostly, I just don't get the idea she ever really DID anything. Except fret about the White House furnishings and matching silverware.
What did you expect or want her to do. Re-write the American Constitution? She was in there for 2 and half years not 8 years. She restored the historic Whitehouse and encouraged Americans to take pride in their artistic, as well as their political, heritage. Lost a son and then a husband inside a couple of months. Held everyone together. I know this and I'm not even American.
@capetown99 Of all the first ladies to find fault with they pick Jackie Kennedy? She was a sharp lady. I'd put her up against any of the other first ladies since her, intelligence wise. Style goes with out saying.
@ra86226 - Well, I am enamored of JFK politically. It is very possible that JFK saved the whole world when he refused to let the Joint Chiefs bully him into invading Cuba. I voted for HIM...not for his wife. Why the press and bored housewives try to elevate the wife of a president to these lofty heights is beyond me. You can argue that it wasn't Jackie's fault but in fact...she played right into it. Apparently, that bizarre, high-pitched breathy voice of hers was Jackie doing Marylyn Monroe!
@FrlghtWolf I too have heard that was not her regular speaking pitch, but something that came and went when she felt like using it. At least in Jackie's defense, she was something different than what came before, so she was something of a sensation. I wont delve into recent first ladies, but I think if you had to pick one to fawn over, Jackie Kennedy would have to be the only one from 1961 to the present.
@ra86226 - Yes, she projected eloquence...but I grimace when I see the public overly "fawn" over appearances. What might have been a small, harmless diversion in the beginning has turned into a 24/7 media sensation. A first-lady's dress can make or break the presidency. I do not care about First Ladies, White House furniture or hairstyles. Frankly, I think grace and charm come from something completely different. Something quiet. Something different than Marilyn Monroe impersonations.
@ra86226 - Well, I invite you to imagine what might become of your opinion of Michelle Obama if she suddenly started doing impressions of Hollywood celebrities. One can imagine the damage done to her husband and the White House if for some inexplicable reason she started doing Oprah. Between Fox News and Saturday Night Live, the Obamas would be literally LAUGHED out of the White House! Of COURSE I don't like Jackie!!!
@ra86226 - I think Michelle is very intelligent. Certainly far more intelligent than Jackie. At the very least she does not have a husband who uses women like toilet paper. Nevertheless, I think ALL wives should shut up and stay quiet. Nobody voted for them.
@FrlghtWolf - do you have any idea how stupid you sound? I think YOU should shut up and stay quiet. You obviously do no know THING ONE about Jackie. Just go away.
@HeartInThe60s - Well, the thing about teens or uneducated people is that they just vomit anger or rage, never bothering to explain WHY or WHAT. "You have any idea how stupid you sound" is just intellectually lazy. Tell me WHY you think this. Organize your thoughts and express yourself eloquently. Otherwise, until you do, it is YOU who should "go away".
Beautiful woman who was born into high society. She went through so many things. Whoever hates her you try having your husbands brains splattered on you. I know that I as a woman could never survive that.
LOL My god, what is all this myth-making? Did she write a symphony? Did she cure cancer? Did she save children from a burning bus? All these slow, nostalgic photo montages are accompanied by really bad, overly sentimental music as if we lost someone valuable. Let's be honest here: Jackie's only talent seems to be her ability to marry powerful and wealthy men and then, ignore their womanizing. Much like Lady Di, Jackie looked good but SHE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! Why elevate mediocrities to the top?
@FrlghtWolf OH BETTER SHUT UP SHE COULD PLAY THE PIANO SHE COULD SPEaK SPANISH AND FRENCH DO YOU COULD DO ALL THAT DO YOU HAVE A NICE VOICE. CAN U MAKE UR FAMILY LAUGH IN JUST ONE SENTANCE BITCH AND PIECE OF SHIT

What an angry, silly, ridiculous and laughable person you are. And "thanks" for the respect you showed. You are the typical sheople(people controlled like sheeps)... that loves to blame it on all Bush. He wasn't the only one who did what he did. He & Obama aren't so different. Of course your blind self wouldn't know that. Your stuck in that sad little world of yours & you suck up all that is fed to you. So much you don't know about. And talk about getting a life. I actually have one unlike you.
what was jackie after at the back of the limo? she seems to be trying to grab something before the agent does also: why was therenothing said from her after john was shot? nobody interviewed her l find that strange, does anyone know????
According to her SS agent, Clint Hill, she was going after a piece of the President's skull that had detached and drifted onto the trunk. They later found a large fragment of skull in the street. She was interviewed by the Warren Commission and author William Manchester for his book "The Death of a President.". If you know of her desire for privacy and her disdain for reporters, you would not find a lack of interviews very strange.
Thank you. I'm not a fan of them either like I'm not of the McCains, Gores, Clintons, for example. We were made to sickly love Obama & hate Bush during the pres. "election" campaign. And it worked. That whole "campaign"/"election" was a show just like the one before that & before that one among many more. This whole left/right thing is b.s. The Obamas, Bushes et. al. will never be like John F. & Jacqueline L. Kennedy.
So? She was trying to find her "Prince". All Princesses must have a Prince...unfortunately, all she found were FROGS. (Except in her last years...she finally found a prince, as did Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn, etc.) Yes, we must have a prince, don't all women seek one?

without money, her whole world would collapse

@capetown99 - Well, most people around the world know more than
Americans do about almost everything. What's the old joke?
..."Americans start wars to learn geography"? Still, I don't know that I
would be terribly proud of knowing exotic information about Jackie O.
This is a subject that has always puzzled me; why is the WIFE (or
husband) of a great person given such attention? What did Jackie
ever do? I mean, other than go shopping and pretending that her
husband wasn't a man-whore?
