Journalists come in two flavors: those who seek facts to find the truth, and those who seek facts to fit their idea of what the truth is. The distinction is critical.

How dangerous is the ideologue who poses as a journalist? How dangerous is the journalist who does not believe he has a powerful ideology? How honest is the journalist who both knows she has, and embraces, her agenda? Where is the person who feels no pain when the truth is found? Shouldn't the journalist be that person?

Spend some time on their website. Watch and listen. They hold themselves to be above the corrupting influences of the gov, corps, special interest, et al. Excellent. And what do they do with it? Dispense their version of the truth. They seem so earnest and optimistic that I feel a pang of pity for their one-dimensionality. These people might be the most deluded I've yet seen: unaware of their own dishonesty, and the LAST people you should believe when they say they are telling the truth.

I have felt this way for a long time and having been personally involved in the "alternative media" i have always had a crushing impression of high hipocracy and arroagance when in these circles. this dissonace lead me to do some research of my own into how these medias are funded and all of them recieve large grants and seed money from the biggest corporate foundations

Thx. Visiting their website, I was quickly slapped across the face with how UnReal their version of the news really is. It's simple and sad: they gauge the truth of something solely on how much they agree with it. You're right, there is a profound and insidious arrogance there. There is plenty of good news coming from Iraq (new schools, etc). There is plenty of evidence refuting global warming. Does anyone think they'll hear such things from them? True understanding is not their goal.

Just one comment about people defending their real interests....as far as I understand it voting is the way the ordinary citizen communicates his or her desires to the politicians. Since the last major election made it clear withdrawal from Iraq was the over-riding wish and this has not been pushed through by congress how can they (no matter how well informed) affect policies of decision makers if they are so blaantly ignored?
