  • Thank you so much for posting this! What a blast from my past! My sisters and I had these records as kids growing up in the 60's. We also had 'I Wand a Hippopotamus for Christmas' and 'Are My Ears on Straight?.

  • @Cherbo3 You are welcome, and thank fostopping by... :)

  • Was this considered cute back then? It's just creepy now.

  • @Sheldonwh I think that it would be classified as a Novelty song today, but it is just a fun one to me.

  • I wish someone would put "Too Young To Have a Broken Heart," which Gayla recorded at about age 13 or 14.

  • Working on it.You should be notified as soon as I get it up.I'm still trying to tract down the month of recording date, which should shed some lite on her age at the time.

  • Thank you for the reply. I remember during the summer of 1957, Gayla appeared at the Oklahoma Semi-Centennial celebration, and "Too Young To Have a Broken Heart" was her newest record so she was probably 14.

  • The song that you requested my friend is now up.Please enjoy.Roy

  • oh how well I remember, such a long time ago... great -- thanks!

  • Your welcome, and it sounds like wonderful memories.I was able to purchace a better copy of this record and now have a much improved recording. Thanks for stopping by...

  • I sure wish I had known about all these songs she sang. I would have loved to have played them for my granddaughter when she was little. I certainly will play them for my great-granddaughter when she arrives in this world in Feb. 2010.

Thank you again mezskr4 for these wonderful songs. :)

  • Congralustions on the upcomming new addition to your family. That sounds like a excellent idea.Drop in anytime.

  • Fabulous! I loved this!

  • Gayla Peevey have so cute christmas song i not joking

  • Thank you and I agree.

  • Lana Zavaroni and Gayla Peevey would be at the top of the, "Children's Singers' Hall Of Fame. Both also were very good singers as adults.

  • Well I know who Lena is and heard her songs, but I don't think Lena compairs to Gayla as far as the childrens songs. There style's were too different...

  • I'm going to have to agree... I didn't like Lena at all, she mostly just yelled/talk sang, and I like pure beautiful voices. Gayla Peevey was an amazing singer as a child.

  • hehe! i like it! achoo!!!

  • Glad to hear that.

  • thanks for the post

  • Your welcome. These are favorites childrens songs of mine.I'll post some more of her songs later.Hope you enjoyed it.

  • Maybe the needle is bad.I'm glad that it brought you pleasure and good memories.Since the released some of Jimmy Boyds songs on Cd they will someday release her columbia recordings.

  • Oops, I said Gloria... I meant Gayla Peevey (I have always had a problem saying "Gloria"... "Gayla" is an odd name to me).

  • Thank you for posting this. I have all my mother's old "unbreakable" Jimmy Boyd and Gloria Peevey records and I used to listen to them all the time when I was little. Now my record player just "skims" everything without playing anything. Thanks to you I can share this with my child.
