I have added the bluetooth module, but it won't automatically connect when I start the vehicle. I think this is because it can only "register" one cell phone. I think maybe the installers registered their phone to it and I can't figure out how to delete theirs so I can add mine. Any help???

This can be trick as I had teh same issue when upgrading phones. I believe you can unreg(ister) a current phone by press the line w/scissor icon. Once you do that, pair your phone so it works through HU, then Reg(ister) it by pressing the REG icon on HU phone menu.

The harness I used was the Metra 70-5520 but depending on your original vechicle options this may vary. Best to remove your factory equipment and then record and photograph the connectors you have. They can then match it.

Basically all standard. Only mods were bypass to watch video while car is in motion and special wiring to support Rear Seat Entertainment system. You do need to buy the additional cable to connect your I-device though.
Had to customer wire myself using Aux output from HU and Aux inputs from RSE. Did it internally so you cannot see wires on RSE. Also had to wire a separate switch power wire to RSE.
No harness available and most websites said it wasn't possble. I was able to achieve it by providing a switched power connection to pin 2 of the RSE unit and wiring video and audio aux RSE unit.
RSE can source video and sound from HU and play over wireless heaset while HU is playing from another source with sound over speakers. Cannot have sound from DVD (playing on RSE) and video from IPhone on HU screen.

Pioneer offers a accessory Navigation add-on if you do not wish to use the iphone.
They also offer a bluetooth adaptor that will support a BT enabled phone. If your phone supports BT Audio streaming, you can play music via BT sourced from your phone.
The native IPOD and Pandora HU screens would not work on a non-Apple phone.
Can you still use your steering wheel to control the volumes? Can you control the rear dvd audio out put from the front unit or do you have to play a dvd in the back without hearing the volume tgrough all the speakers?
Yes - All steering wheel controls are still operational through the use of an adaptor for Ford to Sony (PAC SWI-PSv1).
Rear Seat Entertainment video and sound can be driven with either the head unit or the RSE itself. When driven from teh HU, the sound can be heard over the car sound system or only over wireless headphones. Essentually the same functionality as before excepted sourced from the HU.
You can also play a DVD from the RSE system but in this case the video is only in teh rear and the sound is over via the wireless headphones. I prefer using the HU as the compatability of the RSE is very limited (no R-DVD support).

@princessponi I think he has an iPhone 4... look right next to the ear piece, it has the facetime camera... I think he has a case around it that's why it looks like a 3GS
have done any kind of bypass mod for the video to play thru APP MODE i have the same issue of sound and no video on my headunit. i do have a bypass on my dvd player should i get rid of it
If you want to BYPASS the PARKING BRAKE to watch DVD while your driving... whoops, I mean when your "testing" the radio on your retail display ;) you will need one of these PARKING BRAKE BYPASS INTERFACES:
@seyfarth Hi seyfarth - What apps are you trying? Youtube, GPS Drive, and CineXPlayer are just a few that I use. Remember you need to switch your HU to IPOD and select "App Mode" for it it work. Also make sure that your 3GS has the latest version of software.
@AAADiver I go to IPOD, then APP mode. I can hear the audio from the apps, but I get no video. For example, on MotonX GPS I can hear sounds, but I get no map on the HU.
I emailed Motion X and they told me that an iPod 3GS won't work. They claim I need to get a 4G, but I see others using a 3GS. I reset the head unit and the iPod, but nothing changed.
I turned off the background on the HU in both iPod and App mode.

@wahyu79 really easy to bypass just cut the earth wire and the parking break wire and solder together, then resolder the earth. This will make it work all the time
Download Crackle, VEVO, Netflix, Adult Swim, and HBO Go (if you have hbo) apps on your iPhone. All of these have streaming media. VEVO is streaming music videos, works great. Crackle is free movies from Sony. My dad and I were having a good time cruising around yesterday. He's pretty blown away by this head unit. He has an iPhone 4 while I am still on a 3G. Waiting for new phone in September. Hope the HU works with the new iPhone.
@AAADiver I couldn't get Adult Swim or Crackle to output video. HBO Go I go the HBO logo on the screen but haven't registered with the service to test it further than that. Everything else output video. I am using the cd-iu200v cable.
I just put the 4300 in my '99 Cadillac Seville STS. I couldn't get the Metra Axxess steering wheel interface to work. Data Bus Cables are a pita. I even called Metra before hand and they told me to essentially bridge the bus cables. I have the factory radio in the trunk so the car doesn't go into "sleep mode". Anyway, didn't work and took the interface out. I was using a Pioneer deh-p9300. My old radio was very nice but out dated. I will miss it but welcome the features of this radio.
Hi Spiceman - Honestly not sure because I don't have the app but if you own it you can test it yourself using a standard iphone video cable. If you get signal out, it should work with this HU. Let us know....
Hi Mike - A free kit came with the unit from the store but honestly it was crap. Ended up going to platics store and making my own. Worked well as I bought an extra piece that I cut to insert over the unit when parked. Looks as if there is no radio....
You can use any app that support an external video signal. Not all apps do....i.e, GoogleMaps and Safari do not as far as I know. YouTube, Yahoo Maps, GPS Drive do...Good luck
@TheDOOKIEonYOU teh 4300 is the newer model which has a better screen, Pandora support which is great, and the GUI is improved. Haven't played with the 4200 but loving the 4300.
@efektsk I've actually been extremely impressed. If you haven't seen the unit in person, go to your local shop and check it out. Extremely nice unit for the money.
There is a USB port on the back of the receiver. That coupled with the poineer ipod/iphone cable provides charging power to your device and all the interface capabilities I showed in video (Pandora, Video, IPOD, etc). USB port on teh back of the device could be used fro a memo stick but not practical in my opinion. Better to you idevice with large storage, DVD-R with music, or large SD card.
You demo using the phone interface using voice calling. Does this H/U work with the iphone to listen to calls through the car's speakers? If so I don't need bluetooth model because it drains my iphone's battery. Also anyone know if the H/U allow a usb hub and still have the cable work with the iphone using it in App Mode? Hi - It has to be thePioneer CD-IU200V. GPS drive works great with this head unit. Like to run GPS Drive and Pandora simultaneously for music and directions ;-)
Hi Simon - Hadn't seen IGO but looks like a cool Nav package. As to whether or not it's supported on the Pioneer, it's actually dependent on IGO. I didn't see any specs from IGO that states that their app supports video out however there may be other utilities that might do it for you. If you have IGO app and associated iphone video out cable, mine is the CD-IU200V, you can test it on any monitor. If it works there, it will work on pioneer.
Quick question, I know the parking brake bypass lets you play DVD's when the car isn't in park but the unit doesn't stop you from playing videos off of an iPod or the SD card while the car is in motion right?
I've heard similar response time complaints about other units but I have to tell you that I'm extremely pleased with the responsiveness of this unit. The unit itself boots quickly on power up and moves through screens and options without delay. Only unsatisfactory response time issue I experienced was with a 32G SD card with 3,000+ songs load. This took way too long but my bad as mentioned in video. I think you'll be very happy with the unit and it's responsiveness. I sure am.
Hey what is your opinion on the responsiveness of the touch screen? I have found on lower budget decks that it seems when you navigate through the menus it is slow and takes a second to load each menu. The video makes it look fairly responsive but a video is not the same as doing it yourself. I like quickly searching and playing a song and off to other menus and changes so I really notice it.
I don't beleive so because I don't beleive it has an "External video" mode like a DIVx player, MotionX GPS Drive, youtube, etc. If you can get it to project on your TV, it will work. I'll test and will let you know if I am wrong.
What mount are you using for that iphone?

What format is your video in on the SD card? It has to be in MP3 or DIVX. If you brn teh same video to a CD, does it play? It should.
Also if you have LOTS of files on teh SD card, it can take some time to load, see my original feedback below.
Have not loaded background image but I will give this a try this weekend.
Nav was easy. Need the right cable listed below, the nav app "MotionX GPS Drive", and the HU in IPOD "APP Mode". Bought from Sonic Electronics

How do you get video from apps (GPS) to work?
My Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD only plays video from itunes, and the manual states that as well:
"This unit can play back “Movies”, “Music vi-
deos”, “Video Podcast” and “TV show” which are downloaded from the iTunes store."
No mention of any app video.

I can only play video from Itunes, Pandora and DVD.
The Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD manual actually does not mention video capability from any apps, only iTunes.

Hi Spiceman - Honestly not sure because I don't have the app but if you own it you can test it yourself using a standard iphone video cable. If you get signal out, it should work with this HU. Let us know....

Hi Mike - A free kit came with the unit from the store but honestly it was crap. Ended up going to platics store and making my own. Worked well as I bought an extra piece that I cut to insert over the unit when parked. Looks as if there is no radio....

You can use any app that support an external video signal. Not all apps do....i.e, GoogleMaps and Safari do not as far as I know. YouTube, Yahoo Maps, GPS Drive do...Good luck

@AAADiver Hey man i have a question for you. Do you have to buy the CD-IU200V ipod cable
in order for the netflix feed and gps video feed to display on the headunit, or are you just using
a regular ipod cable and plugging that in via the USB cable that came in the box with the head
unit? i cant get mine to feed the video and i tried using motion x gps drive. HELP PLZ! its frustrating.

@TheDOOKIEonYOU teh 4300 is the newer model which has a better screen, Pandora support which is great, and the GUI is improved. Haven't played with the 4200 but loving the 4300.

There is a USB port on the back of the receiver. That coupled with the poineer ipod/iphone cable provides charging power to your device and all the interface capabilities I showed in video (Pandora, Video, IPOD, etc). USB port on teh back of the device could be used fro a memo stick but not practical in my opinion. Better to you idevice with large storage, DVD-R with music, or large SD card.

You demo using the phone interface using voice calling. Does this H/U work with the iphone to listen to calls through the car's speakers? If so I don't need bluetooth model because it drains my iphone's battery. Also anyone know if the H/U allow a usb hub and still have the cable work with the iphone using it in App Mode? Hi - It has to be thePioneer CD-IU200V. GPS drive works great with this head unit. Like to run GPS Drive and Pandora simultaneously for music and directions ;-)

1) Make sure you are using the right interface cable. Does the ipod mode work properly?
2) Note that that the Apple App needs to support video out. Make sure that the app itself is setup to send video to an external source.

Hi Simon - Hadn't seen IGO but looks like a cool Nav package. As to whether or not it's supported on the Pioneer, it's actually dependent on IGO. I didn't see any specs from IGO that states that their app supports video out however there may be other utilities that might do it for you. If you have IGO app and associated iphone video out cable, mine is the CD-IU200V, you can test it on any monitor. If it works there, it will work on pioneer.

I believe the parking break lock is for any video source (DVD,sd, IPod app, or aux input) but haven't tested since bypass is so simple.

Quick question, I know the parking brake bypass lets you play DVD's when the car isn't in park but the unit doesn't stop you from playing videos off of an iPod or the SD card while the car is in motion right?

I've heard similar response time complaints about other units but I have to tell you that I'm extremely pleased with the responsiveness of this unit. The unit itself boots quickly on power up and moves through screens and options without delay. Only unsatisfactory response time issue I experienced was with a 32G SD card with 3,000+ songs load. This took way too long but my bad as mentioned in video. I think you'll be very happy with the unit and it's responsiveness. I sure am.

Hey what is your opinion on the responsiveness of the touch screen? I have found on lower budget decks that it seems when you navigate through the menus it is slow and takes a second to load each menu. The video makes it look fairly responsive but a video is not the same as doing it yourself. I like quickly searching and playing a song and off to other menus and changes so I really notice it.

I don't beleive so because I don't beleive it has an "External video" mode like a DIVx player, MotionX GPS Drive, youtube, etc. If you can get it to project on your TV, it will work. I'll test and will let you know if I am wrong.
