  • Hello, i'm going to start fly fishing for bass next year at my local estuary, i really have ni idea what flies to use, as the fry they chase are virtually sea through, and i cant find any crab imitation that are very dark (i think the brackish water makes them turn almost black) just wondering if you know any good flies to use, or websites i should check out, thanks.

Hi Adam, there is some information about saltwater fly fishing on my blog at mrkingfisher3.blogspot.com and i will be updating it soon with flies for bass, pollack, mackerel and seatrout in saltwater. There are also safety tips about fishing in saltwater on the blog.

  • what county was that caught was it wexford..that is some bass t get on a fly well done

  • @atraue7

the bass were caught on the south east coast, we had five in that session weighing from 9 lbs to 11 lbs and have caught bigger. The bigger bass can be taken on the fly because they are closer to the shoreline, check out mrkingfisher.blogspot.com for more tips on bass fly fishing and spinning.
